  1. This particular farmer, its been nearly 4 months. Well I went to the farm yesterday, unannounced, he was in, his first words were "You have come for some money"!! Yes I said in a stern but polite way. It apparently was his Dad that signs the cheques, could be true several farmers I go to, I have to write the cheque and they sign. His Dad, who lives at another farm, was not there when I called, so left a polite note (really) He phoned me today, arranged to meet and gave me a cheque for the full amount. Personal contact, I think is the key, letters and phone calls can go unanswe
  2. Your not spoiling the thread. More comments the merrier
  3. Thanks mr muddy, So do you cut out the size with a knife? For tunnels I use a 6" border spade, and if too big a hole, can always fill in the edges, but thats not the same for these is it, need to be tight so mr mole does not "spook" Any other suggestions
  4. Do you pack the soil in tight, to ensure trap is snug and will not move?? or a loose fit??
  5. First time I have trapped moles for this farmer, he found me, and wanted me to catch his moles 53 moles caught, happy as larry, over the moon, I even gave him a couple of traps. Have spoken, he acknowledges he has the bill, maybe his paper work leaves a lot to be desired? I will be visiting over the next 2 days, maybe a visit and standing on his doorstep will rectify the situation. Will let you know
  6. How do you place your traps? Do you totally back fill the traps with soil? cover with vegetation and leave empty or a little soil in the middle? Cant say I really use them, but keep see them being mentioned, so better ask
  7. Yes thats true, checked a garden today, all 5 traps in front garden full of soil. Trapped 2 moles in back garden on very short run just under the surface, thought the mole may have gone from here already. "WE" think we understand moles, and then this happens
  8. Where are you trapping? Are you in their feeding area or are you near to where they could be living? If its in their feeding area, then I find the moles have hightened senses and will nearly always detect my traps, if however they are along where the mole lives, success happens more often. eg, moles tend to live along a fence line, under a tree, patch of nettles where the soil is damper, they then often have runs leading out to the feeding area, catch them between these 2 areas. Lots of traps!! put down 7-10 traps down so that every run has a trap, stick with good quality half barr
  9. First of all, you could report them, as companies like this should not be operating. Would have thought that if the bees were robbing then they would take the honey away, and not allow it it to simply run away. Had a similar call to this one, but it was the heat of the sun on the brick work that caused the honey to run inside down the walls and onto the mantlepiece
  10. Well I have now had my 1st non payer for Mole Control. I never take any payment up front, always do the jobs first and then ask for the agreed payment. This has always worked until now. Owed £480 have sent letters, phone calls, left answer phone messages, spoken to him on the phone, says he will be paying, I have now threatened to come round and collect the money ( I will be turning up next week, and keep going around, even though its 20 miles away) Its been over 3 months now, what else can I legally do?? I will not allow this farmer to get away with it, at least not if I can help
  11. Santandar seem really good, every thing has arrived, + get 1 years free banking, then its £7:50/month
  12. I asked a question recently about voles messing up lawns and had various answers as to if their protected or not, just for clarification (after consultation with Natural England) they are NOT protected other than general welfare of any wild animal, if trapping by traps then protect non target species. But remember these are the staple diet of many bird of prey species, so leave some for them - its control not eradication
  13. What are the Environment Agency trying to achieve with these new and very confusing waste transfer notes/consignment notes. Apart from an extra £40/year from us I could understand more, if domestic and commercial waste was taken into account, BUT its only commercial their interested in. Any Thoughts?
  14. Nod, What time of year? Hear its best to be an Autumn/Winter activity?? Correct me if wrong
  15. Yup, Santander look promising £7:50 month all in, much better than HSBC
  16. Yup, Santander look promising £7:50 month all in, much better than HSBC
  17. Who do you use for your business banking? Do you get a good deal? Currently with HSBC but get chrged per cheque in, everytime a pay a bil I get charged, all adds up over the month/year. Money which could be better spent. Do you use someone better? cheaper?? Thanks
  18. If your traps catch the mole perfectly 100% and death occurs instantly, then yes its humane If however like myself, occasionally a mole it caught by back legs, front claw and then suffers a lingering death, can this be classed as humane!! I can see both sides to this argument
  19. The lady told me they quoted £294 inc VAT I suspose that the price has to include Branch Managers salary, office staff, Rentokil research and development team as well
  20. Good pictures, think i will have a go
  21. I use the LITTLE ACORN camera, must say its pretty good. Certainly useful in showing customers activity. Use it in a variety of situations, lofts, kitchen, outdoors to see deer and foxes. Aldi sometimes sell them, otherwise there about £90. Cheers
  22. Got another wasp nest to do on Thursday, I`m charging £40 and will make a tidy profit on that even with a 14 mile round trip. Before they phoned me they called Rentokil. Before I tell you their quote, perhaps you can write down what you think they quoted. I was amazed!!! Think they were quoting per wasp
  23. Rat CP dont think its a pasta type, more a soft block, which is easily broken when putting the bait on wires to secure bait in burrows. Could do with it being a little bit more flexible. I tend to use it as my number one rat kill product, ans so far seems to do the trick, after all "time is money"
  24. Emailed Barratine and Killgerm yesterday to see if there are any plans to bring out other coumatetrayl products, since resistance seems to be a problem. Barratine said "will be announced in November about new products" and Bayer bring out a coumatetrayl foam soon
  25. Uncle, Thats a really good point regarding cats and bendiocarb, well done
