  1. Good luck when you get your new ferrets mate. Good to see someone putting a bit of thought and effort into it for once fair play to you.....
  2. My Grandad used to do it in the estuary at Blackrock in ireland, he caught flounder and occasional bass,
  3. plus they're already lathered up prior to the big shave
  4. I had a springer that was like that he was ran over sure he was dead, took him to the vets and he put him on the opposite side of the room and made me call him over, he pulled him self over to me the vet said he'll be fine, and he was. He fell down the cliff onto Barry Beach when we were fishing jumped straight up as if nothing had happened, jumped out of the back of the work van on the way home one night ( found him at the police station eventually). He was F***ing mental
  5. Think there should be a thl award for the first member to post a pic of a cat they have just shaved a cock on
  6. I love the way your obsessed with shaving a cock on a pussy lol
  7. It's the piss you gotta be wary of more than a bite, mate lost a terrier to weils , was'nt up to date with the jabs. If your bitch has had her jabs and boosters should be ok. As said keep an eye on the wound. My terrier got bit on the nose last time ratting cleaned it out and some anti septic and she was fine. all the best kev
  8. Was first taken out lamping/ferreting when i was 6 years old, 34 now so 28 years all told, had a long lay off though, could'nt give the dog the time it deserves but missed it like hell, started going out again a while back and got terrier, lurcher and ferrets plus my lad loves it he's only 5 would be out every day and night if his mother would let him
  9. really fancy a norway trip read a lot about it seems there's some great fishing to be had. Looks like you had a good trip great photo's and some nice fish
  10. Had 2 schoolies last week in the exe, any size to the ones out of the dart mate.
  11. Heard there's a few about mate, lost a gar when i was plugging for bass the other morn at exmouth, if there in the mackeral will be.
  12. Both my lurcher and terrier are in the house, and are pets as well as working dogs, but there are rules, they sleep in the back room, are not allowed on the furniture and never go upstairs, I would not allow them the run of the house.
  13. "I would not leave my young children alone with my dogs in a room no matter how much I think I could trust them it only takes one moment and you'll regret it the rest of your life." I totally agree with you're quote above mate - never ever leave them alone. Read a few months back about a greyhound suffocated a baby by lying on the sofa with it - f**k me, you'd never get over that eh? No chance mate I love my dogs but not even 1% as much as I love my kids.....they come first every time
  14. Hi mate paid 150 each for my current 2 dogs never paid more than that, bought them as pups and always have had pups, think i would struggle to bond with an older dog. atb
  15. Hi mate Are you getting this terrier just as a pet or do you plan to work it at all? From what I've seen most terriers like to work I think it makes them tick and they're happier, My mate keeps 4 terriers all inside 1 patt 1 jrt and a couple of bulls his kids learnt to walk holding on to the dogs they are rock solid around the kids and have done/do various types of work. I've got a jrt who's great with my little ones and is a good ratter and busher works with the ferrets and is happiest out working, they can still be house pets, good with kids and work. Likes been said though I would not
  16. some good photos there mate....... you hit photobucket hard
  17. Must be a nightmare out now with the ferrets mate, i know you gotta do it but must be a pain in the ass. lovely looking dogs though mate similar set up to mine Jack russel and 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy hopefully work well next year do a bit without the nets the jrt sat up in the cover and bolting for the lurcher. Also set gate nets out of the hedge terrier on top my lurcher one side and my brothers the other. I don't think I'd wanna go without the dogsthey make the day Can't wait for next season already
  18. I would'nt think any dog would be 90% wolf they've been dogs for thousands of years so not sure about any % of wolf to be honest. I think it's frustration I've seen dogs yap for the first couple of runs then once they've caught settle down and shut up. But I also think bad entering too early on hard runs won't help I've only let my pup have a couple of runs on the lamp on far out squatters and she's silent. She has opened up twice in the day when the terrier's put rabbits out ( with a load of yap) and she can't get to it, frustrated.
  19. Your probably right there mate, every night or day was like an adventure back then, maybe people forget the original feeling/buzz in their pursuit for the perfect dog, instead of still just enjoying being out there and doing it.................
  20. A greyhound/ collie x called susie that belonged to my oldest friend who sadly passed away recently, spent every weekend with him and susie ferreting and lamping from around 6 years old ( i too was chief rabbit carrier). She gave me the start and was a good dog she took everything but fox ( was'nt into anything we couldn't eat) I used to count the days down to fri night when he would pick me up with the dog in the van for a nights lamping, the next day out with the ferrets or fishing, and sunday the same, they were truly happy days
  21. The lad I go out with ( and get my ferrets from) has just had 2 litters. All his ferrets are worked and he has been breeding these for years. He's in North Devon I'm sure he'd come up the road a little bit if they were going to decent working homes. PM me if interested
  22. The pup and the stinkers in perfect harmony

  24. Thanks mate I'm pleased with her. I totaly agree with kittlerox breaking them to ferrets is the first thing you need to do, once thats done you can end up with a useful little companion for a days ferreting
