  1. Out a few days ago and came across a wide range of differing colours Gray Black Ginger
  2. You have told us of some offencees you commited in 2003 and 2007 and now a new lock-up in 2011. 8 year span of alcohol, violence, assault. Thankfully you will not get your hands on shotgun or firearms for a long time, and by then you may well have matured and calmed down and be thought of as a responsible adult, maybe.
  3. I was on the same permission last week and had 3, a black one that was clear of mixy, a ginger coloured kit also clear and a standard grey/brown colour adult that had a small tumour on its belly. Not many rabbits about now on this 100 acres, mixxy hit it hard last October and this years kits seem to still be carrying the effects.
  4. This guy is very confident! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZzoB6xBWOI&feature=player_embedded
  5. Now now theres no need for bad language or are you anghenion ar benig wah?
  6. So thats around 3/4" at 220yds! bloody well done Lew' If thats not a positive advert for home loading I dont know what is! I dont reload (havent got the time) so please could you send me 3 in the post mate, if they group like that in mine ,then Ill send you all my once fired remmy cases, you can load a 3rd for me and keep the rest for yourself???? A cheeky deal or what
  7. You say you cant get a decent group, what are you getting then and at what range? I use Remington 55gr accutip and Winchester 55gr silvertips in my remmy 700 and they group just fine, i have 1/9 twist and get easy 1/2" group at 100yds often with a couple of shots touching and 1 shot that lets the group out to 1/2 to 3/4". If your getting 1.5" to 2" etc at 100yds I wouldnt worry to much, it could just be your trigger technique and follow through letting you down. If your groups are bigger than 3-4" at 100yds then your shooting technique could need a little bit of work, Or there is somethin
  8. Another way of doing is to just make yourself some business cards up on your PC and put a nice countryside picture on it or something, plus the logo of which ever shooting organsiation your a member of as well as your membership number and contact details and just put the words free rabbit control as the heading. Then leave them at your local pet shop, gun shop, fishing shop, put them through farm post boxes if there is no-one there for you to ask face to face, just get them out everywhere you can think of, dont forget the farm shops and also building and plumbing shops In the end it will
  9. A great bit of work with a true mix of traditional methods and the pics just sum it up
  10. John, because what I used to do for a living did infact involve good use of a lot of different firearms and couldnt be arse to be drawn in to a cock measuring contest with Coldweld who listed his possession of so many different calibres as well as hand guns. And again I never spouted any bullshit about ex-forces sniper, you did I think, As for trying to bring in to play an 'emotive subject in to a missguided point''??? What missguided point? that 17HMR is a good versatile calibre? So I could have just said yea I have shot this this this oh and this blah blah blah arent i great, th
  11. With all due respect, ex-forces means diddly squat. The number of self proclaimed "ex-forces snipers" I have seen shoot, is testament. Who said anything about ex-forces snipers? certainly not me, never typed a word of it, so dont put that shit in there pal. Bottom line is that a .17HMR isn't suitable for fox control. The OP requested information regrading the most suited rounds for fox, rabbit and hare. As such, the basic line here is as already said .223 & .22rf. The .223 isn't the best round for fox, but it does a wonderful job. The .22rf is an all time great and is very suited t
  12. So I say my piece and all you can do is, what appears to be a sarcastic sideswipe at someone who served their country Grows some balls pal or dont talk bollocks if you cant stand someone saying your talking crap, simple as,, wind your neck in and jog on You say you have had all these guns, my guess is you never learned anything from shooting them and thats why your self proclaimed comments of not being and expert is quiet right.
  13. Coldwell, your right, just because you list lots of guns does not make you an expert and I respect its just your opinion. At the end of the day mate Im ex forces and have been about and done a bit, mostly with a varied amount of standard and specialist armaments, too many of which to list, and also had plenty of concealed carry 'chits' afforded to me at various times, but again it doesnt make me an expert. Your pedant was about what are you going to do if the fox is too far away for your HMR, well what about if its too far away for 223 or whatever calibre? That just annoyed me as it was a
  14. Completely dissagree, I shoot plenty of rabbits, Oh, was out this afternoon and had 2, one at 187yds and one 196 yds, both shot in the chest and went down like a lead ballon, you struggle to find the entry wound and there is no exit wound, and they are still perfectly edible. The same happens when you shoot a closer ranges, I know this as I have a 17HMR and shoot it a lot, and yes it is cheap to shoot as you should still only use one shot and not a plethora of quick shots Crows out of range?, depends on what ground your shooting over, I have found the crows on my permission are still with
  15. Someone said 17HMR is noisy! Its sounds quieter than my .223 CF! and supersonic noise is supersonic noise all the same. If you can get 17HMR conditoned on your license for Fox as some police forces do, then thats going to be cheap and effective for foxes at ranges up to 120yds as a maximum, but closer if they will come in. I have both 17HMR and 223CF and 22 air rifle, as of yet i have no need for 22 rimfire as what I have covers the type of ground that I shoot over nicely. As said get a moderator for each calibre on your application. £35 for 500 22 RF rounds £15 for 50 17HMR roun
  16. Scope choice is key and paralax adjustable are easier to focus. TBH if you cant get within reasonable stalking range in daytime then your not going to do it at nightime even with NV kit as it just means the rabbits are easily spooked because they are lamp shy (with so many people poaching up etc up your neck of the woods) or your field craft is shit. For a long long time many a boy with a spring rifle and an Ever-Ready cycle lamp has taken many rabbits for the pot, all because of good field craft
  17. This topic gets a lot of coverage, use the search bar at the top right of the page and just type 'night vision' as its good research just to read a few of them and get a good cross section of peoples thoughts.
  18. 12g carts are cheaper than 20g, Eley do subsonic hushpower cartridges in 12, 20 and 410. I agree 410 not greatest for feather but better on fur. My girlfriend shoots a 20g far better than I shoot a 12g! ah well, Least she's not in to rifles or Id be stuffed
  19. I still have mine for sale. Basically its classed as 'hearing safe' ie safe to shoot with no other hearing protection worn. Also recoil is reduced a fair bit, I can see bullet impact through the scope as recoil is so low. Wildcat Predator 8 is quieter and lighter than its competitor the T8 - and thats a quiet mod. Also Predator 8 is fully strippable as you would have seen in the pics in my for sale post. T8 is not strippable. So for the cost of £160 plus postage to your local RFD for a mod that has only had about 300 rounds through it and yes its in perfect clean condition. Or you ca
  20. I had a look at some of the kit laid out on their wallpapering table at the CLA, I even stod there for about 5 minutes inspecting one of the torches then I took apart their tacky angle indicator in front of that old woman who was on the stand. Not once did any one approach me to answer any questions I might have or even to tell me not to take their kit apart. The only thing genuine abouth them was probably that 50cal they had on show with all the youths oggling it. Wasnt impressed with the quality of their imported 'tat' nor the prices and even less so their professional behaviou at what is a
  21. Theres not much recoil on a moderated 223 and Hawke scope should be fine
  22. If its a weapon site you'll only get one on the black market mate unless you can deal with restricted sale items with defence contractors/suppliers. If its just a handheld device there are tons about. IR devices recognition range for handhelds are from 300 to 700m dependant on the quality of the unit and hence price. If its a colour thermal unit then the recognition range is a lot shorter from around 100 to 250m, again price dependant. I guess your just after a unit with which to identify a wild pigs heat source and then track it when it moves if needed, should be able to do that with any o
