    Question

I think this is either a wind up or the originator of this post has the wrong impression of the law. Whatever the supposed breed, if an example of the breed was owned by ME why should I be able to take it into a public place when I couldn't take my lurcher? I await with baited breath
  2. Haven't you guys learnt anything! A racist attack is were a white guy attacks a guy of ethnic origin. A guy of ethnic origin attacking another guy can't be racist because he aint white!

    11 stone lab

The f*****g disgracefull thing is that the poxy courts let the owners have the poor dog back That dog was excessively overweight at 11 stone, had infections and was (and still is to a certain extent) f****d - all because a couple of dodgery old twats 'loved' their dog. I don't particularly agree with the RSPCA and some of the things they do, but in this case they were right - those knob-headed fuckwits don't deserve to own a dog yet those f**k-arses in the court gave the twats a 'conditional discharge'! If I knew where they lived I would 'liberate' the dog and give the poor anima
  4. I hang ordinary purse nets in runs but I can't say I call them 'run nets' 'Bramble Net' sounds like a gimmick to me just to sell a few extra nets!
  5. No, its called a Crow hitch
  6. On my starting ring I use a kind of forward then reverse hitch ( I don't know what it actually is ) which I find I can get tight on the ring. Also, the trailing end of twine is knitted under these knots (along the ring) and is then tightly secured to the final knot (if you know what I mean). I do this for two reasons; 1) it ensures that the starting knot cannot come undone, 2) it keeps the knots tight and together on the ring (I hate nets that allow the knots to slide around the ring!). Anyway, finished result:
  7. No bullshit mate - not many 'shires' on the east or south coast
  8. Actually, and I don't want to appear a know-all, but the number two is not 'synergistic'. Cement and water can be classed as synergistic compunds, because when combined their effects are more than the sum of their individual effects. Therefore, water is said to have positive synergy; the number 2 could not, because it is always represents 1+1 in the equation (although, strangely, 2 to the power of 0 is 1 - check it on your calculator). Similarly, positive economic effects (eg cost savings) can be obtained by merging companies or centralising individual operations, therefore this could be cl
  9. Isn't it? My mate thinks Watford Gap is in Essex sorry Essexshire
  10. I don't know Crow, living in Suffolk (shire?), just on the border of Norfolk (shire?), not far from Essex (shire?) which borders Kent (shire?) which in turn borders Surrey (shire?), which borders Sussex (shire?), etc. However, I'm glad not to be living down Dorest (shire?), Somerset (shire?) or Cornwall (shire?). Oh, I've just noticed it's only the midlanders and northerners that need to have 'shire' in most of their counties names - maybe it makes it easier for them to learn/spell
  11. Agree with above - get a copy of 'The Last Waterloo' it's pretty good. In fact, I had a mate from Surrey staying over recently and he was enthralled - changed his views on coursing completely
  12. I think you've answered your own question
  13. who started this post....o yeah,i remember !! ....drawing attention to this cross then sideing with other anti bull x members. Bitch - lets get one thing straight here! You don't know me, you know nothing about the dogs I run, you don't know what dogs I've run in the past and you don't know what quarry it is I hunt. In fact, when it comes to what you know about me it can be summed up pretty succinctly: FU(K ALL. So until such time as you've progressed from the 'fu(k all' stage to the 'a bit' stage please don't 'label' me, especially when your label is based on a single comment made by m
  14. Just for those that have misunderstood this comment I was not referring to bull cross lurchers in general, but dogs that would be classed as 'pit bull type' - in as much as they resemble a pit bull in physical looks. I can't see why any owner of a run-of-the-mill bull cross has anything to worry about with the current (apparent) hysteria surrounding APBTs - unless of course your dog does resemble an APBT so closely that the general public might not view it as a lurcher (and if that’s the case I doubt it can be called an 'all rounder' either!). Clarification made!
  15. Excuse the ignorance, but why should we believe you? The law relates to any 'pit bull type' dog - so I have to wonder why ANYONE would want a lurcher that resembles a pit bull type?
  16. When loading your needle first turn it one way and then the other - don't keep turningthe needle one way. Also, allow the hemp to come off the reel as if the reel was on a roller - don't lay it flat side down and pull the hemp up from the top (if you now what I mean!). As has been said you'll always get a bit of twist, but a quick soak and a hang out to dry soon cures that!
  17. In response to some questions by ‘Ferretlove’ I thought I’d post my findings as a thread just in case others are interested! Ferretlove wanted to know about keeping ferrets 100 years ago, so what better place to ‘read all about it’ than in these books: Ferrets by N. Everitt. Published by Adam & Charles Black 1897 (I think Read books have re-issued) Ferrets & Their Management by C.J. Davies. Published by Vinton & Co. Ltd c1905 Ferrets & Ferreting by C.J. Davies. Published by Burlington Publishing Co. c1910 Here are the answers to Ferretlove’s questions:
  18. Rabbits on ground that favours them (such as a golf course or football pitch) are an excellent test of a dogs speed, turning ability, brains and stamina
  19. I find that brown rope is less likely to show up at night

    Can anyone help

Try to get hold of the following books: Ferrets by N. Everitt. Published by Adam & Charles Black 1897 (I think Read books have re-issued) Ferrets & Their Management by C.J. Davies. Published by Vinton & Co. Ltd c1905 Ferrets & Ferreting by C.J. Davies. Published by Burlington Publishing Co. c1910 If there is anything in particular you want to know then drop me a PM and I'll have a flick through my copies - but please bear in mind I don't want to retype the whole book for you!!
