    A couple of good catches from the dogs a nice way to end your season.

    Thanks for the geese i will be doing them tomorrow and putting them in freezer.

    I just use a Baikal s/s single trigger 12 bore for most of my pigeon shooting.The cartridges i like best which seem to suit the baikal are Proper cartridges 32g size 6.

    On Monday a farmer rang me and asked if i could go and shoot some pigeons that were on a field he had drilled on the previous Friday.I had seen him drilling it as i was shooting a few rabbits for him on another of his fields the same day. So off i went for a look on Monday morning and when i got there the field was bare.Not a pigeon in sight so i said i would go back in the afternoon for another look.When i got there roughly pigeons were on the field.I had taken the shotgun and just sat in the hedge and shot two pigeons for the flappers as i had decided to go back today.     If you have your own ferrets handle them as often as you can.They will soon get used to it and should stop nipping and then your little one will be able to handle them without the fear of getting a nip.

    Buy some chain mail gloves if your frightened of getting bit.

    Met up with Stuart this morning to go ferreting as he had promised to get six rabbits for a chap who lives near him.We netted up the first hedgerow and got a couple of decent rabbits and two smaller ones.We moved to another hedgerow across the field and just shot a couple bolting them to the shotguns.The ferret just worked the hedgerow all the way down and we were not suprised that we did not get more as we have done this place twice and cleared a lot of rabbits.We then moved to another place and put out the longnet and purse nets and ended up with another three rabbits.So we had got our targe

    Pigeons have had a good feed on that rape.A good bag for rape shooting this time of the year.

    Yes it was a young one and saw another couple as well same size.Some smaller ones just sat outside the holes as well.

    I was up early this morning as the plan was to go pigeon shooting.Kept looking out of the window but the rain was coming down steady and it was thick fog and i had no intention of getting soaked through while setting up the hide.So decided to go another day and went out this afternoon with the hmr.I have not been to this farm since November when it was last ferreted and some of the rabbits had myxy.Just took the tripod sticks to use as it was too wet and muddy on thee field to lie down and shoot.I walked round the hedge and shot the first rabbit within the first couple of minutes.I stayed for

    Went today with Stuart to finish a hedgerow that i started ferreting on Wednesday.Got 6 rabbits and had two digs.One of the rabbits was white under the chin and a streak of white on the top of its head.We finished off with a roost shoot and managed 7 woodpigeons.

    There are a lot of holes on this hedge and the rabbits tend to hole hop.It was a lot of time spent putting them down but we got every rabbit we saw.

    We only thought we had about 12 rabbits till we packed up started walking back along the hedge to gut them.

    Got everything packed in the van this morning for another go at the rabbits.Put the fold up barrow in as we had a good bit of a walk and it would be easier bringing the rabbits back that we caught.Got to where we were going and started to take out the barrow and realised i had left the wheel at home.So we had to tramp across the field carrying all the gear but we left the longnets as we decided we had enough to carry.We put down our purse nets first and started ferreting where we had put the first ones down.We managed a couple of rabbits and took the purse nets up and put them down again as we
