  1. ive traveled 60 miles to longnet but i look on google earth to see what way i need the wind for a perticular set then watch the weather to see how were blowing..

    the smoke from that fire can be seen as far away as derbyshire and it is bad theres another one above halifax and it is on my mates moor whos your mate? aparently that was burning yesterday
  3. i like a 50 when pair netting and 25yds when out on my own, my hands are small and i struggle with the hank when picking up a 50 single handed.. i also have some pillow cases with elastic around the top to place my nets in when in the netting jacket, i havent used them as yet but i will give it ago this winter. im hoping they store better in the jacket as i often carry 4 nets sometimes more.. smithie
  4. theres a chap sells longnets on here and triercel (spelling) you dont need a compass nor do you need 100yds in 1 net. use google earth and you can see which way you need the wind blowing to net a particular warren. you can also use the ruller at the top to measure the lengh of the drop. after that just watch the weather and wait for the correct wind..personaly i prefer to cary more smaller nets than 1 longer net as if 1 100 yd nets damaged the night could be over but if i had a 50yd and two 25yd nets and 1 got messed up i still have 2 nets to play with buy a copy of Martin Kings Peg to P

    good question... but sorry i havent an answer. im suprised any sold in the first place.. i think the brothers got the story wrong and its the particular insurance what wants trackers..

    a friend has had to have a tracker fitted on his fiat doblo for insurance purpose, aparently all are going to require this by 2012 but its the first ive herd. it aparently tracks what roads you have been using the time and speed im hoping there just pulling my pisser but im not sure. have anybody else herd anything about it? smithie
  9. my mate was once cutting a kurb stone with a sthil saw and gave himself a shock on the end of his pecker ( from spark plug). obviousley he flinched and he left him self a 1inch scar on his left knee when he caught the blade numb nuts

  13. once i was told the great yourkshire show had been brought forward by 2 weeks. so i got on the phone and aranged for the brother inlaw to come with me. i got to his house at half six ( he normaly started work at half nine) and we set off.. it took an hour to get there and we were early. i sent him to ask the security what time the gates opened.. he came back to the car red faced as it was a model railway or car show and we was 2 months early for the great yorshire show he was fumming he had taken the day off work and lost £150 for the trouble

  16. i know nothing about netting fox but i wouldnt be using hemp. some might but once it starts to rot it wont last long. smithie

  18. no need to dig when night time longneting, only dig in the day if your ferret stays down. theres no ferrets at night you walk the field for the bunnys sat out smithie
  19. a local fox shooter near to me recons he saw something/black cat near studley pike about 6 week ago now.
  20. just trot to the bank tomorrow and get 4k as thats what you would be paying back to charity.. dont tell them your going overseas and go... you can still pay your dets from there and with the spare 2k you can chase some spanish midgets around the pool smithie

  22. i ferret and longnet in the winter, but if the weather forcast is no good for the nets and ive nobody to ferret with ill be out with the s400.. in the summer i dont ferret or net so its back to shooting. im happy to be out anytime using any method available to me. i also dont like to lie in wait with the gun. much prefer to go looking for my next target. smithie
