  1. Because you recon a bull x cant even catch rabbits. Didn't say that. I said my old dog would catch more game in six weeks than your bull x could in six months.Would that be by weight or numbers Both . The old dog's long dead and buried now, but he was a very good dog, with no bull blood in him, and his father was ............... hancock's 'taffy' !! Lol Edited to add, would I have another beardie blooded dog? Not a cat in hell's chance! Lets have a list of game that this dog caught in 6 weeks shark.Pre ban obviously. A few rabbits, but mostly hares and deer, roe and fallow. That o

Far too many serious people on here lol

  6. Because you recon a bull x cant even catch rabbits.Didn't say that. I said my old dog would catch more game in six weeks than your bull x could in six months. This is what you said. And without being big headed, I'd say I would've caught more with him on his own in 6 weeks, than you will with your two dogs put together in 6 months. . Not everyone on here is into bull x's. Even if it was legal, you certainly aint going to catch hares or deer with your dogs, and you aint going to catch many rabbits either. And you won't catch many foxes on the lamp with them either. Bull x's the size/build of your

  8. Because they aren't hare dogs, as much as they try Are they not?!
  9. Anyway, wasn't Ritchie87 just asking if collie/greys are any good? Lol yes he did, and you gave your opinion, which ,I gave my opinion to.In that if a dog is regularly used on things that have been discussed ,eventually if will get marked up ,I'd expect bull crosses get marked up due to there commitment. Rather than self preservation . My opinion is a 1/2 cross of any breeding is a risk,I'd rather pick a dog out of 2 worked parents that have a few generations behind them ,doing what you want. As to is a 1/2 collie grey any good ..... Let me see the dog work and I'll say. Fair enough
  10. I didn't say 'not marked up' I said 'marked up as much'. And it's a fact, you don't see collie/greys as marked up as bull/greys. And I definitely know of a few collie/greys that take foxes very regularly throughout the season that aren't as marked up as many other types of lurcher, bull/grey or otherwise. And I agree, fashion has little to do with commitment. Anyway, wasn't Ritchie87 just asking if collie/greys are any good? Lol
  11. Sounds like you've just seen shit ones. I've seen a collie cross do teeth for fun. Hard as nails. Built like a tank and take a knock as good as any dog. Pretty sure the dog never even saw rabbits. He was used on bigger stuff before the ban. Gaz, I know more than a few people that had/have collie/greys that weren't/aren't even remotely interested in catching rabbits, myself included. And this 'lack of fire' etc mullarkey?! Yeah righto lol. Like's been said, the people that slate em for whatever reason have either seen shit bred dogs, or dogs owned by shit owners that couldn't make a s
  12. That pied pup is smart as paint BD92
  13. Not just the temperament, but having patience, like you should with all pups. Each dog of whatever type, even from the same litter, is different, and will grow quicker/slower, mentally and physically than it's litter mates. Some will be ready a bit sooner than others. Far too many people on here are rushing their dogs into work before they are ready, just because it's starting to get a bit of speed about it and is looking keen. Look how many young lurchers are for sale under a year old, and then have a chat with the owner, and that'll tell you why the dog is really for sale. There really are
  14. Was probably Greyhound in the mix. Looked like Whippet/Greyhounds. Plenty of big, strong kc whippets in this country. I've had dogs that were over 22" tts, and like lifelong cumbrian said, there was plenty of nimrodel as well as laguna, cockcrow and nevedith blood in them, years ago, that had nothing whatsoever to do with mike brown, and long before anyone heard of sooty sam etc. I've probably said this at least a dozen times on here. Anyway, admin or whoever, where's this whippet section, I think the site needs one?
  15. Who? I think he was referring to shaddy93, not you
  16. Hi lads, just a quick question about the HW95K. In a review in 'gunmart' by Pete Wadeson he says the overall length of the rifle is 42.5" (with sound moderator fitted). Other reviews I've read have all said overall length (inc sliencer) is about 45". What is the correct info? Thanks lads
  17. BlackDog1, I'm in an identical position to yourself. Used to shoot quite alot when I was younger, BSA meteor, super meteor, airsporter and a couple of my mate's other spring guns. Wanted to get back into it all for the last few years, so about 3 years ago I bought a brocock jubilee, fabulous gun, but I hardly used it, lovely and light and accurate as hell, but it just didn't seem right/normal to me. Shot my son's tuned ultra, mfr, mark 4 daystate and a couple more, and apart from the mfr in .20, they were all .177. And the last 3 weekends I've shot my mate's HW100 KT .177. Thought I'd love
  18. What did you end up buying rabid, brocock or an ultra, or something else?
  19. Looks ok, for a few bunnies when he's older. That's if he'll have enough 'drive' lol
  20. I know of the sire.. sadly I've met the owners too bloody northern gits! Lol yeah the sire is the same dog that sired your litter of pups that 'fourtrack' has two pups from pups isn't it? Edited to add, the sire was 'tod' wasn't it? He seems to throw some very nice types
  21. Yeah thought so. Cracking litter, and parents. Some very very decent dogs in that line if I remember correctly
