  1. I don't think they are as little used, or unpopular as many people seem to think. Alot of people with these types, same as a lot of people I suppose, wouldn't even consider coming on a hunting forum and writing about, or posting pics of their dogs. You could be right there too fdr
  2. Surely if they were of much use they would be more popular? Let's have it right every cross under the sun has been tried at some point. The good stuff tends to stick around and the not so good stuff tends to fade away. Disagree with both above posts. And I'm not not getting into a debate on bull x's. Ok, some of the racy ones can be pretty useful, but 90% of them are shockingly shite, bred from shockingly shite parents etc, look how popular they are? Socks, not all gundogs are soft mouthed all of the time, and some not even soft mouthed at all. And a lab on an estate I worked on
  3. I thought she was a tan/biscuit colour Yep, you are correct. She got a black nose too lol Wasn't being flippant last night fdr, was a long day and I had tired eyes lol. Had to look a couple of times to see you were correct as to the colouring of that bitch lol I was panicking as history of colour blind in family lol Lol nah I think it was definitely my 'tired eyes' lol

  6. I'm on the northyorkshie coast and i recon the rabbit numbers are well down, i don't mind it so much though cos imputting it down to the buzzard population!! my mate was on for one a couple of months back, i was watching through my scope and one flew down and nicked it before he had chance to shoot it!! pmsl as for hares iv only seen one pair in ages!! atb si Same here there's lots of kites and buzzards on the land I shoot I could stand and watch them all day. Theres a few half grown hares knocking about but after talking to 2 farmers yesterday both said there has been a big drop in ha
  7. Well why not? If someone has a dog that I think is quite pleasing to my eyes, I shall express my opinion of said dog/bitch lol . FAAAR too many negative comments on here recently, some from myself admittedly. Been a pretty long and boring summer lol
  8. I thought she was a tan/biscuit colour Yep, you are correct. She got a black nose too lol
  9. I don't normally like feathered salukis, or cream dogs of any type really. And she's cream and feathered, but I like her lol. As fdr says, perfect time for her now
  10. Isn't there a bit of collie in your dog? I thought king's dog is just bull/grey? I was told buy the guy who bred them there frome the bud buck line and he sed the was some collie frome a few genorations ago od the sires side Not that it really matters, just making an observation
  11. Count me in for a bit of stalking. I love photographing deer for my own personal album lol

  13. @ King, bit of a mix up , apologies lol
  14. As have many others. The main reason the Bull bred lurcher receives the amount of flack it does is because of the feckwits and nuggets that own them, use them as a status symbol, hunt in a manner the majority find utterly repulsive, breed out of dross throwing names about like confetti and slabber on like a second rate fisherman and his catch.Ive seen my share of very useful bull bred lurchers, lurchers whose owners have little in common with, with many that own the breed. The minority of feckwit bull x owners are responsible for the majority of dross bred, finding a decent un is a task in itself, yet
  15. A good mutt is a good mutt no matter the type, but vast majority of bullx are poo poo lol i watched countless numbers of them over about 10 years and they were they were all crap, is some good ones about but i seriously doubt they be posted on here hahaI do agree there's more shit bull crosses about than most if not any other cross. Too many idiots with them thinking they are they bees knees because they carry a bit of muscle and strike a nice pose so churn pups out of them when they've seen a seasons worth of work spread over 5.But I have seen a few good ones and the good ones are good. Plus
  16. Tried replying to your post, but couldn't for some reason, so I'll do it on this one lol. By 'good nick' I didn't mean running fit as such, but he looks relaxed, and has a healthy happy aura about him, nice
  17. This could go on and on lol. I don't mean the 'odd collie x' doing a bull x's job, I never said that. And there certainly WON'T be a bull/grey catching hares or most deer in this country that hasen't rebounded off a fence etc, even on the lamp. Seen plenty of collie crosses, I/2 X, but mostly 3/4 breds taking fox very regularly, as well as other quarry, and on the same night. But I do agree with you to a certain point, there obviously are some racily built 1/2 bull x's about, but they still aren't going to be fast enough to catch as much as most other types, especially some of the heavier ty

  19. That's the point I'm making roybo. They are never going to be a general allrounder type, but when you get, and you do, people saying 'my bull x catches r h f d, pre ban, well, was it actually a proper bull x? I don't think so. And as for thumbs up or likes, I really couldn't give a flying f**k who likes or dislikes what I have to say about bull crosses, honestly. And I've seen ALOT more than the odd collie cross taking foxes, very regularly, and taking rabbits and hares on the same night, and deer, which a bull x wouldn't have the speed to get up to, which didn't bounce back off a fence into
  20. He loves fishing on here more than he loves any type of dog. Haha. I don't think we will ever know his true feelings but like you I enjoy trying to guess. Lol. 21. @ W. Katchum, are you really a secret bull x fan/owner, like you are with whippets, or do you really dislike the type? I think I know, but you do make me think 'outside the box' at times lol Edited to add, me personally, I can't stand the flat footed, bucket headed, slow, unagile, windless, ugly, especially those chocolate ones, f***ing things . And can't understand why anyone would want one, when a proper lurcher will do everything and more. I await the flack
  22. They're known as being independent hard headed b*****ds. And exactly how many have you trained? I have had two, and not had any problems, once I knew how to train them. If your not comfortable letting a dog work up to half a mile away from you and know that you still have the dog under control, then they are not for you. A lot of people think they can train them like a spaniel or a lab and it does not work, it goes against every instinct the dog has. TC You misinterpret my comments as criticism. I've not trained any, but I know people who have. Like you say, they can't be trained like
  23. He seems to be doing well for the purpose you got him for. But aint he too tall and too big?! Lol. As I've said in the past, a few times actually, when people drone on about dogs being too tall etc, as long as a taller type retains good balance and coordination, it's going to be of more use than a smaller dog. I'm not referring to ferreting
