Mysterious sightings, have you ever seen....
hedz31 replied to stroller's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I saw tony tiger on a pack of frosties this morning when my lad was having his breakfast there gggreat lol, No on a serious note there was a team of people i came across in a part of sherwood forest bordering some farm land round my way they were doing some kind of investigation to sightings i was told, i dont doubt there could be one round were i live its thick vast forest in parts with alsorts of game in there large and small but i have to be honest in all the years ive been in there and of the beaten track ive never seen or heard anything -
to be honest the post is about a lad trying to get some views on a cross to put across his bitch not what a world beater your heavy base blooded lurcher is yes i know a little about belgian shepard dogs as my father has kept them since i was a young lad they are good guard dogs very obdient so bloody what, if they were that good a cross why hasnt every one got them i tell you why because there is already better tried and tested dogs out there and they throw to heavy for what most people want i have not saw your paticular cross it was a 1st cross begian shepard/greyhound and it was a strong dog

put a 3/4 grey 1/4 to her Exactly keano

Totally agree a good choice.Be carefull about putting a collie saturated lurcher over her as you could loose speed and end up with clody dogs.atb dell Dont get that one pal how would a 3/4 grey 1/4 collie racey type produce a cloddy dog why add alsorts into a mix of dog and make bitzas thats where the problems come from in breeding because down the line the pups can throw to different blood in the mix and you struggle to get dogs to throw to type you could add say bedlington blood to that mix then when a pup from that mix is older and ready to breed then whats it going to be put to maybe a s

Great honest post from the heart pal made me chuckle not at your misfortune just because i remember similar incidents like that when i was new to the game glad to see it hasnt put you of and you have seen it as a learning curve ,its also great to see some one coming into the sport which is not a total idiot claiming how shit hot he is and how perfect he was from the very start if you lived down my way pal i would offer you a day out with us any time wish you well in the future and dont listen to any folk sniping at you we all were learners once Regards Hedz -

I have a daughter out of heather bred by chris shes a cracking young bitch very impressed with her so far shes picked up every thing very very quickly shes been a pleasure to own so far
-
Nice typey looking bitch pal if it was me i would try to keep the same mix instead of adding more into the mix, i would go for a nice racey 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie type lurcher but i think a greyhound/whippet would be my second choice if i couldnt get hold of a decent 3/4 cross

hedz31 replied to hedz31's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Yes he was a rough coated dog it sounds like him he was a keen young dog i never worked him to ground as he was 10 months old ,i ended that line to concentrate on my black dogs he was given to some one who i was told gave him to a gamekeeper in cumbria (more like he was sold for a profit) where abouts is this dog that you know pal ?? He bought it off a lad up our way, dug it 2 or 3 times, but it seemed to be going off the boil with old age?? And would bay at fresh air, he sold it back to the lad a couple of month later, don't have a clue where it went?? I know he found out a bit abou -
Nice photo chipper sounds like you had a good day nice bit of legal pest control pal, sorry to hear about your accident goldfinch hope every one in the van was ok Regards HEDZ

Try sticking a picture up pal shame its not a dog i would of had it,had my eyes open for a young dog for a while
-
that still does not explain why you were asking to buy one the other day the same cross but you have this one why dont you just keep that one then instead of flogging it on ???????????
-
he was a rogue but a nice fella lived melton mowbry way in leicster hes passed on now he had three terriers of me which i am told two were sold for a good profit when they were abit older and he had a white lakie type russel of me when i ended that line called brock which is in a post on here as i was trying to find info out on it not sure if he sold the dog or a friend had it of him in cumbria i cant remember him having a line of terriers though i could never understand him on the phone lol nice chap all the same
-
Why are you selling the dog you were only trying to buy one of benji from doncaster the other day and ive looked at a few of your posts and there all of trying to buy owt with four legs why is this kid ???
-
Mine are very well mannered and learn very quick i find they mature quicker than bullxs as well thats one thing i noticed straight away when i started with wheaten crosses instead of bull although i do prefer the bullx coats on a dog my wheaten bitchs coat takes alot of brushing etc or it gets clogged up with alsorts my wheaten/bull/greyhound has a cracking coat very short tight rough coat far better than the wheaten/greyhound coat

I guess the dog never made nowt then or died young or was not good enough to use as a stud never mind i thought he would of made something -
its a gamble really pal you could end up with pups having good feet from the saluki or bad feet from your dog there is no way certain of knowing and it might pass it down the line again i wouldnt breed from him to be fair also if you did breed a litter from him you may get pups with good feet you cant be sure at a young age but any one that comes to look at the pups may notice the sires bad feet and decide not to have a pup so you may end up with a litter you cant find homes for i would just try and cure your present dogs feet and enjoy your hunting time with him
-
hes just turned two!!! i started ferreting with him at eight months and lamped him for the first time at one year!! Sounds like a poor feet gene been passed on to him for sure, you have done every thing right by the dog and hes getting regular road work really hope you solve the problem mate it must be frustrating for you when hes laid up after working
-
I wanna know why my ex missus was naked in that field when your dogs caught her was she hurt bad what am i gonna tell the kids ??????
-
Sounds like you have ended up with a dog with poor feet from his breeding if you are road walking him regular and his pad are not hardning and there spliting when you run him i would say soak his feet in heavy salted warm water to thicken the skin and kill infection take him to your vets to see if he has a skin condition on his feet if that does not work i also would be wary of breeding from the dog incase he passes his poor feet condition on hope you get it sorted pal Regards Hedz
