  13. When you say "Work very well" what do you define as "Very well" I have only seen 4 bull X's work. 1 was ferreting. Very steady over nets, but lost a fair few bolters. 23tts. 2 was daytime, 25tts lack of early pace lost it's quarry. 3 again daytime, in 2001, 25tts smashed its feet up after 6 slips. 4 lamping 23tts had a few sitters, but was struggling to make the turns, and its timeing to strike was bad. However i have seen them on fox, and they are at home here. what i define as work well is to do there job to a suitable standard, and i have seen quite a few b

  15. The question is not which is the BEST X, it's which would make the best allrounder. Bull X's excel at what they do, but I doubt anyone would buy one specificaly for rabbits and hares. Whereas a Deer x could do these and, pre ban, run fox and deer. So for some one who wanted to do a bit of everything, then a Deer X would PROBABLY be better than a Bull X ! Cheers. well to me a bull cross dog is a better allrounder its just my opinion which does not make it right the same as your opinion does not make you right, ive seen bull cross dogs take all the above quarry and ive seen deerhound cro
  16. i bet this thread causes some arguments lol,me personely i have nothing against either cross there both useful but my preference would be with a bull cross as some deerhound crosses seem to throw to large for my liking but thats just my personel preference, ive seen great examples of both crosses work very well.
  17. i had a black and tan smooth coated bitch she was saluki/greyhound with a dash of whippet way back down the line she was to this day the best rabbit and hare dog i ever owned also she was the only one of these hybreds i ever owned as my intrests lie in other things from rabbits hares etc she was well known localy and ran rabbit and hare day and night and never a murmer from the bitch when she was just over 4 years of age she was hit by a motorcross biker while we were walking the lanes in sherwood forest she was taking to the vets and after a few hefty vet bills and nearly a year out of action
  18. well at 2 years of age and with 8 failed attempts under the dogs belt, its really upto you what you do with the dog is earthwork your only intrest ?? if you are into ratting or know some one that is maybe try the dog that route it certainly does not sound like its cut out for earth work, i personely would not keep the dog but my only intrest is in earthwork but if you have put time into the dog and have had him from a pup its totaly upto you if you want to try it another season there is other options to culling a dog of that age like you ratting and bushing with the terrier or giving it to some
  19. Ive seen a couple take fox, ive only ever owned one saluki/grey and she would not entertain fox or anything that would bite back, i kept her to a ripe old age and was a supurb bitch i was very fond of her but she just simply would not tackle them i ran her dozens and dozens of times on them through her life and she would run them every time bowl them over then stand looking at them, i ran her with other running dogs i had who were bull/wheaten/grey and good fox dogs, but would still not entertain them she would run with the other dog then stand looking while the other dog despatched it she wou

  21. suzuki is just a nickname used for salukis there called it alot around notts, even the matchdogs saluki/greyhound are called suzukis i have no idea how it started but i have used it myself when asking if a person is taking there suzuki cross lol think its just caught on and looks like its spreading
  22. ive seen a few bull crosses take hare day and night certainly not 3 for 3 dogs but i have seen them take them,i had a wheaten/bull/greyhound bitch that was stolen she took them well if she got them in the 1st minute or so but struggled after that lack of a salukis stamina/pace i would say ,i still have her brother but he never caught them that well there breeding was 6/8s grey 1/8 wheaten 1/8 bull so there was only a dash in
