  1. I use one of those cat boxes you can buy from a pet shop for the ferrets. I cost less than £20 and carries 4 ferrets.
  2. Thanks for the advice which has saved me a lot of cleaning Just to prove i am a novice what are stingers? I just googled it and found the answer
  3. For £10 I think he may have got a criminal record bureau ( crb) check . The basic check would not show spent convictions only the enhanced check shows those. Spent or not the the police will have a list of all his convictions.
  4. I have a Terrano MK 2 fitted with ordinary road tyres and get about 29 mpg. I have only had it 6 or 8 weeks so that figure may change with time. I have not used it off road much, mainly just across fields when ferreting and it coped fine. The body panels do feel a little flimsy to me compared to other vehicles. My friend has an Isuzu Bighorn (the trooper import) and it feels much more robust and more solidly built than the Terrano. It is about 6 or 7 years older than my car with 2 or 3 times the mileage but you could never tell. It is automatic so I suspect the mpg is less than mine.
  5. I have just bought my first rifle a brand new Weihrauch HW60J. I have been given conflicting advice about using it and wanted some opinions. The shop I bought it from advised me as follows. When I first use it I should give it a quick clean through with a patch after every round for up to the first 150 rounds through it. So fire, clean, fire, clean up to 150 times. This gradual wearing in process will help with accuracy My friend who has been shooting for years said this is rubbish and just shoot the rifle. I am unsure what to do. On the one hand I do not want to do anything to e
  6. Mine are all named after people that I know. I have 4 albino gills named after Sue, Lu, Emma and Nikki who are blonde haired girls . Plus 1 polecat gill Katherine named after a brunette I know. Sue is also sometimes called monkey ferret because she is always climbing up the wire of the ferret court My friend has a polecat hob that we have decided to call Diablo because he always bites one of the other lads that shoots with us.
  7. Try putting small bowels of food or water in those places that they c**p . This may cure the problem as most animals will not "go" near food or clean water. I had the same problem wiith my ferrets and it worked for me
  8. We ferret with shotguns all the time. Its faster as you do not spend time putting out the nets at the start and collecting them up at the end. Safety is paramount. We mostly work hedges and banks and you need at least two guns one to cover each side. For this reason you must know where everyone is standing. No shooting rabbits that bolt across the top of the bank as you could hit your mate on the other side. It is a good Idea to have a dog on the top of the bank to stop rabbits bolting that way. If there are two or more of you on one side you also have to watch your swing. It is a good idea t
  9. Thanks for the advice. I have been keeping a close eye and the bullied ferret is feeding a little to well as she is first to the food when I feed them and does scoff it down. Her condition is on a par with the other three apart from the fur on the back of her neck being thin. Last couple of days she has started to nervously explore the court so I am hoping things will improve. Also there have been less squabbles. I have a bought hutch with a run so have somewhere for her to live if necessary.
  10. About 8 weeks ago I got 4 ferrets off a friend of mine. All are gills 2 albinos and 2 polecats (colour). My friend has a very large ferret court with about 15 ferrets in it so I just went to his house and picked 4 at random. One of the polecats was clearly younger (this years litter) than the other three and when I got her a lot of the fur was missing on the back of her neck. Since getting her she has grown and the hair on her neck has grown back but not fully. When I first got her she was very out going but now she is withdrawn and stays in the sleeping area of the court I have built. I
  11. I use a 32g no6 which works ok for me. This gives me good clean kills.
  12. i have got my eye on one of those. Be interested to find out how you get on with it
  13. About 5 or 6 weeks ago I put my application in to Devon and Cornwall police for a 22 Rim Fire. I had the visit today and it all went ok and was told I should be getting my licence in 4 or 5 weeks. I asked the firearms lady if I could use the 22 to shoot foxes as my farmer has seen 9 in the past few weeks. She said that they no longer consider 22 rim fire a (I think she used the word) humane calibre so if I shot at and only wounded a fox I could be prosecuted. She then went on to say I ought to get a variation to include on my licence a centre fire 222 or 223 for fox. She suggested I a
  14. Lesbian porn works for me. It does not stop them cr*pping in the garden but I get so distracted by watching it I do not care what the neighbours cat does
  15. Tourists. Being away from home means the suddenly the rules of the road no longer apply to them, they stop for no reason, stop using indicators and can not read roadsigns.
  16. They have been showing re-runs of the wrestling on, I think its, ITV 4. I am loving it. There are loads I would love to see but top of the list is Cat Weasel because once on World of sport his false teeth came out during a fight. The other one would be the Dynamite Kid. There is a down and out in Paignton who I was told is Kendo Nagasaki. Apparently when the Police are trying to arrest people in the town centre he comes over and offers to help them
  17. I had a short session decoying crows this afternoon which was spoilt by my chair breaking. It is one of those camping ones that folds up into a sort of long rectangle that then goes into a slip so you can carry it over your shoulder. Nice and light but not sturdy enough to take the weight of someone like me who has clearly eaten all the pies. Could anyone recommend a chair. I do not have a 4x4 and the land I shoot is very hilly. Therefore I have to carry everything myself to the place I want to shoot. So I would like something portable. I have seen the idleback chair on youtube being
  18. Plastic tends to be slightly cheaper than Fibre. The problem with plastic is that it is not bio-degradable as already stated but also grazing animals can eat the plastic wadding which is not good for them. On my permissions I only shoot fibre for this reason. If the land is not used to graze animlas or say silage production the land owner may be happy for you to use plastic but i would advise checking with him first. If you open up a plastic wadded cartridge it contains something that reminds me of an egg cup with the shot sitting in the cup part. This cup holds the shot when it is
