    festival of hunting 20th of july at peterborough show ground great day out all the hound packs on display plus the running dog clubs are there saluki deerhound greyhound whippet lurchers all these are represented with their various clubs well worth a visit .

    iamduvern ime with wirral countryman on this been going to gamefairs all my life and dont mind paying to go in any of them but £29 entry each plus the queues to get in plus the fact theres no terriers or lurchers will put a lot of thats in to that side of hunting. i know theres loads to see and loads of stalls but there will be nothing on any of theose stalls that you cant but at any other decent gamefair.when you think how much they charge the stallholders to sell there £29 entry on top to customers to gain entry is way over the top imo.

    lots of mud but the weather was good today fair crowd but down on most years as was the stalls but some good bargains to be had for the ones who stayed untill the end got some bins realtree coat battery and few odds and sods all with good discount without much hassle .so good day all round .

    yes above dog is one of my first cross litter in fairness i bred them because lee my son has always wanted a genuine first cross saluki greyhound they are by tony byrnes sonny so hoping for good things hugo my pups son is still behind the bitches because as you can see he is a big dog and still maturing but hoping for good things over the next few years .

    blue bear the track records at the valley greyhound stadium in s wales is 16.48 for the 315 sprint and 28.27 for the 515 4 bend dont know if its yards or metres

    there was a lurcher won the odd bottom heat a few years back in wales and i bred a litter of lurchers and my son flapped it for a while one summer it had 2nds and 3rds but never won a race but they were nearly all greyhound one part pitbull.

    the valley is in s wales but a good greyhound would do 16.70 for 315 and 28.70 for 515 round there real slow rubbibg rags would do 17.50 odd and 29.70 odd for the 2 distances but to be honest even the fastest lurcher is not going to live with a half tidy greyhound and shouldnt be expected to but as you say good exercise for him good luck .

    bought a first cross to first cross pup of dave plat about nine or ten year ago[ rio ] she ended up 28 tts cracking bitch on rabbits and hares in feild or up on the fen terrific mouth and agilaty and very fast but wouldnt go near anything bigger than a hare no matter how much i coaxed her even doubled up .but as i say top class on the bunnies and long ears which is what i bought her for really. she would also jump anything for the hell of it .

    lukey i like running the small land as much as the big land the 2 dogs i mentioned that were good were first cross deerhound greyhound and the other was saluki x irish terrierand both these were hard at em types that were exiting to watch on big or small land .the point i was making was fen dogs are not boring but sometimes watching on a dvd or videa can make it look so.to many people label it boring without actually seeing or trying it for themselves.

    its been a few years since ive had what i class a real good dog but the last 2 real good ones i had would and did catch all over the country in feilds and up on the big land its a fallacy that fen dogs cant catch anywhere other than up there.people that dont live up there but go up there running also run elswhere on smaller ground. and do you honestly think they would travel 8 hour round trips if they didnt think their dogs stood a chance of catching or putting up a good show when they get there.ide love to know all these slagging the fen dogs of as boring how many have actually been there don
