    lol that takes me back echo bag lr9s and lr6s and loads of rabbits about if you were prepared to travel good old days looking back they were fair old lamps but rubbish compared to the lightforce ones out now but I caught ten times more with the homemade ones than I have over the years with the new ones mind you I don't walk far nowadays and hardly do any lamping rather be cwched up in bed .

    the farmer who got ran over was not bullshiting been on that actual peice of land quite a lot with a mate who had permission on there feckin idiots who ran him over fecked it up bigtime he will not have coursers of any kind on his land anymore and who can blame him . its the minority of idiots in coursing that f****d it up for the ones who tried to do it properly its ok saying the farmers are this and that but there are certain ones out there that could mess a brand new c**t up without even trying.

This is what makes us lurchermen...     if proof were needed that more people enjoy the course chase hunt than the kill look no further than the waterloo cup thousands went every year until the ban and not many ever killed there but brilliant day out and great craic with likeminded dog folk .

    ive had running dogs around me since I was a baby in fact never lived in a house without one and 60 yr old next year had a few top class dogs and some average dogs but never a shite one or never stayed for long if it was , but the point I am making is nowadays I am easier to please ,I have 2 dogs one I rate highly and one I rate just about average on a good day years ago these two would have been much more trained than they are obedience wise .I am contented with the two of them and enjoy them for what they are but years ago they would have been at a much higher level than they are .as I said

    question her more for the older members I have asked a few mates this question and most have agreed with me . as I have got older I have come to accept less out of my dogs compared to when I was younger and probally a lot keener. nowadays I can put up with things that years ago I never would have accepted in my dogs. some well known dog people have said the same thing .be good to see what other olde rexperienced dog folk think about these thoughts .

    love the anticipation of what the day out with the dogs will bring as much as anything else .its not all about the catch .saying that wouldn't never keep a dog that couldn't catch what its chasing. but its the course as its happening no matter what the quarry is that sets the juices running ,the kill if it happens is a by product of the course /hunt call it what you will but I would say the percentage of dog men and women that enjoy the kill more than the chase is a very small minority imo.

    one persons top class is anothers rubbish all down to each persons criteria and what they expect and want out of a dog . a lot of the top dogs get to the top because of the work and commitment they get given by their owners an example is some of the best coursing /lamping and ferreting dogs ever bred stand head and shoulders above and in front of their litter mates who are bred the same way .what I have found personally and with a few people my age is that we are far more easily pleased with a dog nowadays and don't expect so much of them ,but that's down to not doing so much with them as we

    going back a few years was driving to ballinisloe fair and came across a overtuned horse trailer with a group of men and kids when they got the pony out its leg was shattered they cut its throat and dragged it over a wall in to a feild and drove off. f***ing animals that can do that .

    cracking post and well done gte on that speech. i went to the cup quite a lot and also to clonmel for the cousing festival it was a very sad day when the last waterloo was run and a sad day also for the hares on altcar. i went on all the marches to try and stop the ban but my honest opinion is it will never come back and we will never stop wind farms being built sad but true i feel.

    love reading in fact love a book more than the tv . i have nearly every lurcher and coursing book that has been written plus loads of hunting related books .a few non hunting books that are top top reads are the killng zone not to be confused with the killing feilds completely differant book.the iceman /.in the blood brilliant read/any welsh readers try and get a copy of autobiography of a super tramp cracking read ./cocky warrem britains biggest and richest drug dealer ./oh and ive read all the wifes darker shades lol does wonders for your sex life lol

    doglost got in touch with tony to let him know they had his dog and that his feet were ib a bad way looks like whoever had him ran him on some rough hard ground he has also lost a load of weight but tony is just glad to get him back he will be back home with him tomorrow .

    over the years fancied a lurcher coursing hare on my calf but never found tattooist that guaranteed getting detail right . very difficult tat to get right .
