the countrymans is exactly the same as our local newspaper small percentage of anything remotely newsworthy and the rest adverts same every week . as i posted earlier sent a letter to letters page and to editor and got no reply and letter not published the problem is theres nothing else other than edrd magazine which is superb but the problem with that is its monthly and a long time to wait in between .mind you with thl who needs the countryman.

i race greyhounds as well as run lurchers prefer a dog for the track but funnily enough always prefer a bitch for work if theres a choice but at the end of the day a good un is a good un dog or bitch .little tip if your fed up with bitch coming in season or your in a comp and frightened she might .see your vet and put her on the pill same as a womans pill and they run really well on it just put one in her food every day cost is pence and doesnt affect the bitch at all .

2 points from me i wrote in to the letters page a while back and asked why all the adverts and not enough for the working terrier and running dog man/women and how cant it go back to how it was origenally when it was foremost a working dog paper and in fairness a very good one at that but it never got printed neither did they reply to me 2nd point a few years back i used to course in the same club as penny taylor and believe me she does work all her dogs and not only that but worked them hard on top of that they were all very well trained and obediant and there were another 30 odd members

cheers lads for comments looks like size doesnt matter to most which is what i thought at the end of the day its whats inside that counts and how much they want it regardless of how big or small they are imo anyway .

does size matter for daytime hares or rather did it matter pre ban heard it said often its a good little dog/bitch but not really big enough for hares daytime my way is if their good enough their big enough seen plenty of little uns with the heart of a giant and biguns that wasnt worth a light and seen quite a few little uns do 3 out of 3 on the fens so what do the rest of you think my ideal would be 25 ins tts but my present oneis smaller than this .

the courts are a fecking disgrace got pulled for no seat belt and had to produce documents and pay a fine no problem i was breaking the law so paid the fine and was couple days late producing documents which by the way were all in order now being fined and taken to court for producing late its a fecking joke .

depending how their bred or crossed they can be fast up bang trying all the time merchants or stickers staying behind the hare waiting for the right moment and then you have the fast up that will try and kill straight away and if miss settle in to work the hare untill the right moment to put salukis and saluki crosses in a box as slow dull wont listen and so on is totally wrong ive seen loads of differant crosses or types and differant types of runners the secret is to try and pick the cross or type of runner you like . mind you that in itself aint easy as they dont always end up like you

my sister has got a massive american bulldog and when he is in the garden i defy anyone to walk in there ive had dogs all my life and not nervy about them but ime not brave enough to try going in without him locked away . and any would be burglar would have to be smashed out of their skull to not take notioce of him.

i think a lot of it is horses for courses some of the fen stickers ive seen would struggle on the smaller feilds to stay with the hare but tbh come in to their own on the big fen i suppose that the ideal is a fast good mouth dog that can stay on a sticker the ideal dog i suppose but theres not that many about that have got it all.

i would imagine that most guests are on our side and just having a peep before deciding to join and for the few that aint if they are antis then stuff you and agonise over the fact you wioll never stop us hunting and doing what we love and is a way of life so go get a life for yourselves.

a good dog will always be a good dog but if its fed properly and given the best of everything it can become an even better dog a good example is in the flapping game theres a few have freebies of good grade and expect them to perfornm on cheap grub same as they would having the best of everything but just watch them go downhill and down the grades then theres others feed the best of everything and their dogs improve their times no end. as bulldoug put it you dont see top athletes eating fish and chips and cakes and curries every night . -
i like mine to be striking all the time and crashing the hedge i know the top hare dogs sit in behind and judge their strike but half the time their out of sight when they do strike/ mate of mine got a very good bitch caught 2 and we think 3 out of 3 about a fortnight ago just before the snow but we didnt see any of the pickups and he had to run to find the dog and longears couldnt find the third because she was on the way back to him. doesnt worry him or lots of others but myself i like to see the action in front of me.

owned a very small greyhound bitch 23 tts very good early one quite a few races got a 24ins bitch now that ran 2 4 and 6 bend races but heavier built never pass for a whippet but i have seen some that would.

i know it was meant as a joke but stupid thing to put on here because there are some who wouldnt know how lethal it is to dogs tiny drop can kill them i think it would be better to delete it in case someone reads it and actually tries it . what i do and it helps is put some electrolite i use for the greyhounds in their water and it takes longer to freeze . -
beleive me mate the one i mentioned that was given away from my one mate to the other mate is very very good on other things day and night .
