increasing population
Ideation replied to fieldsportsman's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Just one thing to add - look at establishing some type of cover crop - some areas of rough cover thats fenced in a bit and stick a couple of feeders in the middle of this. Also when you ay wild do you mean that there is someone putting birds down local and they are wandering onto your permission and establishing themselves or is there an established breeding population? -
Fucks sake, with some of these replies. We've all had our dogs run off out of sight, especially our running dogs, it happens. Unless its to save a life there is no excuse for beating a dog to death. Sounds like the poor thing ran into some of the many many many scum that are all over our country.

As far as anyone knows just as much as mikes, and his (the dog in question) grandsire was a Banatay dog that was put over Special Little rat (as firststrike says) . . . . who was ummm. . .. bred by MIke Brown.

lol you couldnt of read them thoroughly, you go to M.B. get a pup bring it on right and i guarantee that dog will give you 100% every time you work him and not just on rabbits, in fact i doudt you have the work permission/time the dog desires..... people moanin about 300 a pup , thats about 3 weekends on the piss, if your moanin about how much a dog will cost you initially, dont get 1 because 1 vet bill could double that, if you buy a dog and it serves you well 300 is nothing for the enjoyment that dog would give you back. how do you no i havent got the permission or time a dog desires you

lowcur - I see what your saying and agree, but the original question was - would a whippet from mb do the job required. Simple answer is yes. Just always wonder why those that have the most to say about the mans dogs are those that have f**k all experience of them. And anyhow they aint interested in talking about his dogs, just him, over and over and over. And your not better of with a whippet x if you want a whippet are you?

Anyone remember CarraghsGem? Cheers, D. yeah , a right f..kin nut job ..same person ? Big difference mate - she was funny. This ones nuts and sounds a lot like that Buttermilk nut who sent oot the video and then accused various people of stalking her This place is f*****g great, i sold my t.v.

I think mate if you read it there are very very few if ANY negative commets from ANYONE who has had a dof off him and worked it. If the guy is a puppy farming liar who never works his dogs, breeds without thought and is just in it for cash - then where are all the shit dogs that have come out of his kennels. Everyone who has one rates it highly and everyone who goes on and on and on and on about the man - has never worked on of his dogs. Funny that I've yet to meet someone who can say - i had a pup from him, worked hard at it, did the right thing - and it was shit.

Thats the disease aspect. If they die shortly after birth i'd want to know why? Just weak or something up? Also depends what they are fed, if its an intensive farm they often feed steroids or hormones to pigs so maybe that could be passed on as well?
-
Too much salt mate thats why. They can't hydrate quick enough and it can f**k their liver/kidneys.
-
Lots of socialization with other dogs and a firm hand (i dont mean beat him) - might figure it out in time.

Three questions. 1 - At what point in the last day did your three dogs become trained to attack people and who did the training because that bit where they wouldn't go up to them is a bit of a flaw? 2 - At what point did you think letting your dogs run outside with the 'dog thieves' was a good idea? 3 - Do you have a sister called 'Buttermilk' ?
-
Do you have any original thoughts or do you usually just edit together other peoples?
-
Very Very VERY true!
-
Aye mate i was thinking of you and Gem when i was doing this bit its just like up by you but waaaaaaaay more trees so extra fun, i'll take you up there.

Fair points mate, mike sells pups 200-300 quid, less than a lot of other folk. But your not wrong in what you say.

bedlington/collie/greyhound
Ideation replied to ban is just a word's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'd love to see and hear about a 3/4 beddy/grey x 3/4 collie/grey or something - think it would make a handy all round dog. -
Your ss bred bitch I see your delighted with her and used your mates show bred dog as stud if I'm reading your posts right? How do you rate your bitch against this show bred stud? Workwise Y.I.S Leeview They both work well using there noses well, both will face cover, both retrieve, both ferret and both have very good stamina and yes I can see where your attempting to go with this. As you will see I started my post with saying there are plenty of other lines that will work admirably (and there are some that wont) I also suspect that as with most dogs the owner/trainer has a lot to do w

I was out for a couple of hours ferreting today with the pup. The piece of land that we were doing was a woodland/forestry that a friend of mine has bought, its pretty old and dense, it's also in many parts near vertical. Anyway, i was doing big set and one of the ferrets had knocked a net aside on the far side of the set and a rabbit bolted out (sods law) at speed and up the hill, pup was on the far side of the set by me so the rabbit had a fair head start but he made good the ground, got on the arse of the rabbit, weaving in and out of the pines, over a ditch, over some fallen trees and turn
