  1. Amazing! Funny though, the RSPCA were having a moan even then. Saw a programme a while back with a guy from a UK wildlife park trying to get a cheater to catch rabbits. . . .
  2. Speaking for my whippet, rather than all whippets, just to avoid argument. I would say he is a decent rabbiting dog, especially when it comes to ferreting and general mooching / bushing. A lurcher is a cross bred running dog, a whippet is a pure bred sight hound. A lurcher is probably more likely to take to more things, i find a whippet perfect for what i do. Up sides of Finn - Great nose, took to marking all of a sudden at a young age, will find any game, anywhere. High prey drive, loves to hunt, will pursue quarry with 100% dedication, follows scent like a beagle. Very fast r
  3. Aye mate, i'm trying to restrict his running a bit as he has just come off the back of a bad smash where he sheared the inside of his back leg off on some sheet metal, hence he's on a lead in the field, and the lane he's marking the rabbit on leads to a bigger road But aye, you are not wrong, can't wait till the weather is cooler and his leg is all healed up P.S - He actually ran down his first rabbit while on the lead, with a shovel tied to the end
  4. Cheers guys, pics ain't the best as they were on the phone, which is a bit battered Aye Jayjay, keen is an understatement mate, prey drive and hunting desire through the roof, not always a good thing, lost him for 2 hours after a fox the other night! Digger - he's giving his wee sis a cuddle mate
  5. Aye a tidy dog for a 13 year old i thought!
  6. Ready for action! Was having a walk down a lane and dog decided there was a rabbit in the holly hedge, did someone not say that whippets won't enter thick cover? And the kits having a cuddle. . . .
  7. She probably bit you due to hormones mate. Maybe you could find someone to take her on and give her a whirl. Put the outcome is probably fairly inevitable. Maybe give her the start of the season to impress you. . . . .
  8. Was out pushing through the pens for charlie, before we close them off and get the birds in, and our young ferreting apprentice (13) brought his terrier 'Tyson' with him and i thought he was a nice stamp of dog (i know looks don't mean much) so thought i'd whack a few photos up.
  9. Mine HATES being wet, inside the house Will walk for hours in the rain, swim, no problem, but soon as he passes through the door of the house, unless you immediately towel him down he goes MENTAL and starts to vault the furniture, do the wall of death around the lounge and run up and down the stares, jumping on and off the bed on route etc. . . . . Not a problem unless someone unaware takes him for a walk in the rain
  10. Don't be so sensetive sweet cheeks. No, what makes you a fanny (joke) is arguing round and round about a 'preference', how you ''prefer' your dog to do something. As long as both dogs are achieving what was set out to do, the method you want them to use, is down to what floats your boat To be fair i was looking for DD to bite, not you, so run a long Rabbting man - not talking about bag filling, but on average, i'd say daytime bunnies make more mistakes than charlie??? They are also more constrained by cover, fences, barriers etc? Perhaps? Even though both are tough?
  11. Stop being fannies, you are arguing about how you like your own dogs to take a fox. . . . . it's up to you, you feed it. As to the original, i'd say fox. Daytime, definatly fox!
  12. Mate you can keep your Celtic crimson eyed creams.........I breed Welsh red eyed whites!
  13. Celtic Crimson Creams??? You got the poley and moets, and i got the albinos and moets. pretty good going FF - Not one litter.
  14. Tidy mate, funny, those sandies are the spit of mine, to be expected i suppose with their old man being related to those kits, but it's nice to see some consistency in the line.
  15. 4. . . . . in 1 day? Fecking dreamer Best day i had - Caught 2 rabbits, a cold, Tom eyeing up my missus, and my nuts on a barbed wire fence. . . . Now that's what i call a mixed bag.
  16. Sometimes, a mans got to do, what a mans got to do.
