Aye probably. .. It's simple enough, there are whippets that can kill em, just like there are 22" lurchers that can... But if you get a whippet purely as a fox do your a fool.

I think he jut means can they handle a full nights lamping or do they burn out after a few runs. They obviously are not salukis or collie xs but you'd be surprised at the stamina and recovery rate of a good one.

There are going to be a few dogs lame by the end of the week. . . . . . Funny how folk wouldn't run them a few days ago, but now, because it's september folk are out . . . . . it was over 20C yesterday, ground like iron, and stubble like daggers. . . . it just aint worth it!

Mostly beagle. . . . with the smallest amount of terrier and cocker way back, so I've learned.

K -Cheers mate. Aye the young one. To be fair I found the same with Finn, he hunts like feck, it's probably his best and worst trait! Always kind of remind me of terriers. And I know how you feel about the bunnys at times.... Bs - me to mate. It's going to be a long wait! She's certainly switched on and smart, and is rapidly becoming the bane of Finns life! Thanks for the positive comments, I've looked for a very long time to find the pup I want.

Brilliant mate. . . . to be honest she has so far, surpassed all of my expectations. When I got her, given her breeding, it was generally accepted that she was going to be a pain in the arse, hard to train, control and work. SO far however, she's been a dream! She can do the hound thing, follows a good line, bays well, and likes to run bigger stuff through the forestry, etc. But when she loses it she comes back well. Shes good on the whistle, and will come quick. I've had her out with the runners, but i've also been shooting over her. I took her pigeon shooting the other day, and she sat tucke

How old is it? Looks a nice pup. Does look a fair size. . . . big feet etc.

Cheers both! Hopefully she'll have strong feet mate, I think feet and heart are probably the two most important features in a running dog. It's also a sore point at the moment as I'm going into the new season with the old dog laid up with a bad toe....

Well, wee Bree is now nine and a half weeks old. She has settled in really well. She is clean in the house and sleeps the night through, which is a real bonus. She's feisty as hell, no fear of anything, and happy to tangle with the adult dogs, and stand her ground if needs be. The pup is a real watcher as well, and can be nice and calm, shes picked up sit, and her recall and retrieving are going well (obviously early days). So far so good, and i'm real happy with my new side kick. A couple more photos.

Fear might sound a bit strong. But you know what I mean, it's two parts - one they just don't suit some folks mentality it seems and I can imagine that for some, training a really smart, easily ruined dog might be something that they wouldnt want to undertake. And other fear that they will over think, pick runs, etc etc. Some folk just want an uncomplicated dog i suppose. Who knows i'm tired.
