Well I thought there was something odd about it , it was an old Ferret who knew her job , she was in good fettle and well cared for , after she was thought lost the other Ferret moved and bolted other Rabbits, new ferrets were entered and moved Rabbits , but the old Doe did not move ???now the Ferret was Nine years old and had had a lot of graft , did she drop dead on us ??????????
Some years ago the Allotments at Hougton on the Hill were being robbed on a weekly basis , I thought it spiteful and nasty at the time and though I lived nearby and was often given vedge in exchange for Rabbits or birds it was none of my business , one Friday night they were caught in the act , two Men and a Woman and they came out with a pack of lies denying the lot the older off the two men said anyway what are you old b*****ds going to do about it , What happened next was they were all barred from every Pub, Shop, and business in the village and all those old b*****ds made their lives a
Had a morning out with young Don this morning things did not go to plan and the Rabbits were reluctant to bolt and the digging was through countless burnt Matresseswe managed a few, how ever it is always nice to be out and next season WE WILL BE BACK with a heap of Bone crushing Traps .
PS ……. To the Daisys on General talk [and you know who you are ] if you were to touch that beautiful 3/4 length coat that I am wearing you would know immediately that you could not afford to buy one and also just like the man wearing it, it is a lot tougher than you Turds .
The first net of my own was a 100 yarder that I got off of an old Fellah from Nottinghamshire me and a old lad set it up one night at a place named Launde Abbey , when we walked to the field of and reached the net the sheeting was blowing lie a Spanish Galleon in full sail , them Notts lads could rig a net .
I don't know about % but every time I see a net put up I think that is not enough for me , most nets can deal with one rabbit in a section but could they deal with 4 or 5 , each to their own but I have seen many times that the more bagging a net has the better it catches . In the 50s I was only a kid and just caught the end of it and heard the tales of the old uns and they were fantastic but every one of them wanted more bagging,...…… can you have to much ?
The lights were on to show what was happening but the Rabbits still hit the net and bounced off time and time again , more bagging would have stopped a lot of that , I think that now days people do not expect to catch a lot so their nets are rigged accordingly but back in the day the old timers rigged their nets for a lot more and even with a lad killing at the back of the net things could get out off hand .
Iwatched a film on you tube on some blokes long netting up North they were lamping the rabbits in and though caught a few their netting up was crap Rabbits were bouncing off one after the other if the had double the Bagging they would have doubled the bag if they had used Trammel nets they would have nabbed the lot
One of the best was the two Jock pals who were blind drunk and fell out over the Moles being trapped 4 foot down then inventing the Cast Iron Rabbit Snare.
If I was stating out now then I would use nothing other than a Trammel nets for either day or night time , any man watching them for an hour would have to say the same .
