When you go Ferreetting Terry digging is always on the agenda me and my mate were always looking at 20 digs on a day out and after xmas it was more like 40, if you want a good bag of Rabbits you will have to dig and . its never been any different ! . Myself I think that a ferret that doesn't get stuck in and kill is not much good or overfed they are not pack animals ,they are individual killers and the more they kill the better they are, over the last65 years I have seen a lot of Ferrets and for me the best for Midlands Hedgerows is a big Jill with an appetite then change to a Hob after Xmas

I always fed mine in the Morning , if I was taking them out they would not be fed until they were back in the cage and they were always fed Flesh , I like quick Killers as they speed the job up when I was in Leicestershire I favoured Jills but my Mate liked a big Hob and both of us liked to see plenty of Ferrets in the big Setts.

I am surprised that no-one has mentioned FEEDING ?This can be critical on how a Ferret works .

Type in HOW TO SET A CONIBEAR 110 TRAP , Then look for CONIBEAR SCHOOL , This will give you some ideas . A trap set for a Rabbit must not move either in the ground or on the top Rabbits are not daft like you ! they will refuse or jump over if there is any movement cannot make this picture out but I think its a body grip catch

I have three lads and brought them up to know how to look after their selves and make a living, I think that the only rule for all the kids was NO SMOKING and YOU MUST GO WORK and to be fair they all stuck to this Boys and Girls , to-night the eldest lad dropped a Bombshell ! he rang me up and said he was going to put the £500 that he nipped me for over a year ago in my bank , I never had a clue and had forgotten all about it ! what a fool I have reared , I think that I have failed as a parent

Perhaps they were banned because the amount of Foul catches on Rats and I have had plenty but as Rabbit Killers the angled Jaws are deadly , going in or coming out , I have been there a few times when the Dog has put them up and they have run into the trap I have had them out in seconds but they are goners the first belt duz em .

I have used the Imbra trap for over 50 years and never found a fault with them they strike hard if the Rabbit is either going in or coming out and other than Hedgehogs I cannot recall a Foul catch about five years ago my hands became so bad I could not open the Imbra so I bought some Juby traps which are set by foot and I was back in the game , like the Imbra the Juby gives the Rabbit a hard smack just where it is needed but with a lot more power. These traps were designed by trappers who knew what they were doing and made traps that KILLED RABBITS but not really practical for rats because

I have read this post and my take on Mixi is that it's a cruel and foul disease but I was around when rabbit numbers were at their height and in a small way helped my Granddad to control them and over the years I have often read how people today say how the could have kept their numbers down if they had the chance , now when I was a kid every boy in every village was a Rabbit catcher as was every manual worker and they were very good at it , so what is it that makes people think that they would make a better job of doing it than they then those lads pre 55 who were out every spare minute wi

Well as I :said we all did it : La Cala was a small Fishing Village at the time with a small English enclave we stayed there a few times and when we had a bit of money left to us we bought a place and had many good times there as did our kids and Grandchildren did , we recently sold it as the Hills made it hard for my wife who suffers with Asthma and the area has gone more commercial and it's filling up with Low Life , Waste of Spunk, Shit Thieves who tell people how to look after their Kids
