  1. i dont think its the wind ,more the direction the wind is comeing from,i found rabbits reluctant to bolt directly into an east wind ,and will bolt the other side if they can,one day years ago iwas ferreting early seaon on some big open sets,it was very warm and it was blowing a gale , the rabbits were flying out ,nothing would stop them comeing out ,even when we done the sets ,where rabbits we had lost ,through blown nets had run in still bolted, with no lay ups ,i killed a rabbit there that day ,took it out the net ,dropped it on the ground, and it ran off,it ran for twentyyards ,then stoppe
  2. :piggy: :piggy: :piggy: :piggy: :piggy: did you have them fenns in your back pocket mate
  3. I lifted the traps early this morning, not a sniff of a rabbit ,just this gentleman,i was late setting them yesterday ,and they had to come out today ,if they had been left down a bit longer i,am sure they would have nabbed a few , Stubby the traps are down the holes, and covered in peat and a slight top dressing of sand, the second picture shows a trap tied onto a log, CAN YOU SEE THE LOG? :piggy:
  4. Theres a sand pit near to were i live and its full of rabbits, i leave them be as a rule , as its a very dodgy place, but today for some reason i had the urge to set a few traps, setting in sand is easy enough ,its the pegs that are the problem so i tie were i can,or use a 12 inch wood peg . The sides of this pit are near vertical and theres no way out of this deep water,so you have to be careful, we shall see what turns up in the morning, Winds getting up you lampers ,and its nice and mild.

    Our Nick

Idont care who runs the country,or how , it will make no diffrence to the working man,the elderly ,or the genuine unemployed, and the only thoughts i have on the matter, is now the BNP have got there toe in the door, the man who replaces Mr Griffin , will be a very dangerous man indeed.
  9. I had just finished dressing some rabbits in the yard and had gone in doors to wash my hands when my mrs shouted me ,there was a fox stood on the ferret cage, she dashed upstairs for a camera and was just in time to catch him /her, leaving, the fox pushed its nose under the pig wire ,then pushed and wriggled using all of its body to force a way through ,theres easier way to leave the garden ,but it seemed determined to make a new exit.
  10. Winds blowing ,its very dark, theres a touch of drizzle in the air ,and all the dog men are stroking their well trained keyboards,it wont be long before someone pulls out this debate with a knocked up fingernail
  11. Nice read mate i,am working a ferret that i caught last year in a fenn trap, hes a real soft old boy ,but he knows what his teeth are for, afew years back we had a bad dig at Grantham ,we hung my lad down ,and he pulled out the ferret ,as boxed him up i saw he had no collar on ,we hung our sam back down and he copt hold of the rabbit, when he pulled the rabbit out it had the real ferret fixed to its head, the first one was a stranger in the camp,we had him a fair few years and was one of a few ferrets that i would really trust with my hand under ground.

I reckon you must still be doing it wrong, mate Yes really, and if i,am wrong , i,am wrong ,but tell me ,whats right ,about putting a ferret to your mouth,my ferrets are working animals, ifeed em ,water em ,and keep em clean, and in return, they work,at no point do i kiss em. is it a Scottish thing?
