Totaly agree Have to say I do quite a bit of lamping with my coursing dogs these days and it has not ill affected them around headges or cover acctualy if I'm honest I think it may have sharpend them a little . As we know its a different type of run
  6. bred from the right stock mate theres nowt to stop em being crackers ATB
  7. To be fair there are running dogs of most crosses that will tackle most quarry but by the same way there are also running dogs of the same crosses that wont.particular crosses tend to be good for particular quarry but if its an all rounder that your after the best start would be to find a dog from a line of dogs doing it all on both side just as Ideation quite rightly advised earlyer in the topic. What cant speak cant lie and if you look back at its breeding and the whole line is doing what you want then although still not certain off success at least you can stack the odds in your faivour.
  8. Loads of people take terriers of all descriptions ferreting Russles, patts and the likes and I cant see that a staff would be any less handy to be honest. Fair dues it isn't going to catch you what a lurcher type will when it comes to bolting rabbits but it will have a job in life which has to be a good thing. Good on yer mate ...hope your dog does you proud and you have fun with it. ATB
  9. I get on far better feeding pork to my ferrets than ferrets to my pigs....Little feckers keep hanging of their snouts...Never know when to give up ATB
  10. Well then send it to moxy....Na bother ATB
  11. he is a good man always give u time he was to nice to the wrong people who he thought wer freinds always had a good dog about him The trouble was Robert, from his era, they all stuck together, scratched each others backs, had a scrap, the shook hands and had a pint. them days are longggggg goneeeeeee, will never return he spoke highly of his running dogs, too openly maybe but old habits die hard and still trusted his fellow fieldsportsmen but to his cost. And his ways are without doubt the best ways mate......If a man has put the years and commitment into yhe job that he has
  12. basically a greyhound reduced in size with better feet coat and stamina, but with the conformation of a grey thats a bit more robust than the average grew with hopefully more wind, no good on the fens perhaps but potentially a good alrounder on the average to large size fields Nowt to stop it being a good beast on the land your speaking of mate....Pleanty of pace and a bit between its ears, what more do you want in a confined space ATB
  13. Bad news and sad times .....Hope he's comfortable bud. ATB
  14. Keep it bud...it will pick up ur mrk3 collars.never know when you might need it to get you out of a muddle. ATB
  15. Most of us have one or two about us mate in my opinion.....If your happy with what your running and they give you their all then their fairly wonderfull in my eyes. If the guy or gal that feeds and kennles the hound is pleased with it then its doing its job well. JMHO ATB
  16. Seems a bit odd to me....If somebody has 7 shire horses then I would suggest that they had more than 1 pasture to turn them out on and not have to rehome this horse as its not dog friendly and they have nowere else to keep it. Dogs and loose horses realy dont mix very well.I have been a dog man and a horse man all of my life with a large kennles of dogs and several horses and I can honestly say I would trust no horses around dogs 100%. They are very unpredictable animals that natrualy dont accept dogs very well as they tend to see them as preditors as has quite rightly been stated bef
  17. Nice dogs mate....A credit to you ATB
  18. Shouldn't be a lot stand in their way to be honest mate......They should make tidy animals and a fair chance of heavy jacket. ATB
  19. Nice pair you got yourself there mate......Like the smooth coated pup ATB
  20. A Saluki based lurcher from two very good and well proven saluki based lurchers or long dogs can take a bit of stoping in my honest opinion. But I think the fact that the parents are real grafters has to be the main thing to take into consideration when picking a good en rather than the specific cross ATB
  21. Bang on chap....horses for courses and every man to his own ATB
