  1. yes 4 it knows the crack, but regards peaked its how much you give the dog really. Say you only go out couple times a week, and only give it dozen runs when out. It could work like this at 8-9 years old, but if given hard nights 20 30 runs when out, it could be knackerd at 6-7 years old , i think we forget they are dogs not machines Spot on IMHO ATB
  2. well if its an 8ft box it could nt say 15ft could it? Bet the wheel was fully turned when it read 8ft now if you put a 15ft sticker on the same wheel switch it on fully and it will read 15ft when your 8ft collars 8ft away As already stated the boxes are all the same apart from the stickers on the wheel Y.I.S Leeview who's a clever boy then leeview. if all the box's are the same why's there a 15ft box an collar/ 8ft box an collar. if you read the first post of bushwacker you will see i've stated that an 8ft box will only pick up a 15ft collar to 8ft. . The original 8ft box will pi

  7. I recon you hit the nail on the head there mate.....Horses for courses so to speak. Each to their own and if bulls your thing then bulls your thing but still pleanty of top qulity coursing blood avaiable if you know were to look for it. ATB
  8. If its to get a couple more ferrets mate then I would suggest waiting a few weeks and pick yourself up some of the hundreds of well bred workers that folk on this site breed for their own use and than give the surplus away to good working homes. This way you should get stuff from good established working lines to Maybe put to your own stuff later on down the line if its good enough when you have a little more experiance. Only my opinion mate and please do exactly as you wish but without experiance it would be easy to breed sub standard stuff which just seems a bit daft when there is so mu
  9. I do remember my old man having a locator but i dont think he ever used it. It's funny, some folk seem to be digging all the time, i get maybe a handful or so a season and i'm out nearly everyday for at least an hour or two and full days twice a week, or more. The rabbits are bolted. We know we dont leave kills, even if the ferret was super quick and didnt stop for long, we could still tell by the dog, same with any rabbits still holed up down there. The ferrets kill, and move on and we can mark it and dig down, but like i said rarely happens and i've never dug to a live rabbit. are
  10. Stopped this weekend mate.Dug to a litter that nearly had their eyes open so thats me done till the new season.Although as has been said some people need to carry on and if thats the case then I recon ferreting has to be the best way as it not very often that you'll take a doe from a set and leave young in it.If she does happen to bolt and leave them there then there is a fair chance that your ferrets wont do the same so its better than leaving young in the nest to starve to death. 15. Well said FTB.Dog will learn next to nowt working cubs unless mums at home and if that is the case she might just learn more than she's bargining for. To be honest mate if your experianced enough to know were your earths are, what they are and what they are holding as you have said then to be honest you should be experianced enough to keep a your dog away from them when not collared up. Dont get me wrong we all make mistakes and I'm not knocking ya fella but a mistake like this could soon result in a lost dog. Hope your dog goes well for you which ever route you choose to take. ATB
  16. I ordered a triple ferret box and triple terrier box from him and they were about five weeks late getting to me....But I have to say that they were worth the wait (Very good quality and well finished) I would certainly use him again even though the wait is frustrating ATB
  17. nice post fella....As has been said I'm sure your grandad would be very proud of you and you should also be proud of your self. ATB
  18. Good luck with em fella..If they are tame enough get at em as soon as possible. The season is nearly over all ready mate. ATB
  19. Usualy we go out as a crew (mainly 5 of us) and we each take around 100 purse nets each and a couple of long nets.Obviously its very rear that we even put a dent in this amount of nets but there are times we have been glad to have them and they wont catch us rabbits hung in the shed so I would suggest take as many as you can even if you leave the majority of them in the truck. That way they are on hand if you need them. ATB
  20. Well done mate.....Chuffed for you that she's home safe and sound. Just like FTB Whilst I was out digging today we spoke about your situation and was all hoping for you mate. As has been said,Dont worry about the knockers mate you did the wright thing by asking for help and I'm sure its a mistake you wont be making again so happy days. Some of us were lucky enough to be taught the trade by true terriermen, some people just have to learn things the hard way. Then of course you have the chosen few that were born knowing every thing there is to know about the job and have never made a mi
