It's a nice sound unfortunately for me I finish work at 4am and unless I dive straight in to the bed the bloody birds are deafening, I've never head anything like it lol It was much quieter at that time in the morning in Stockport. Once the little barstards quieten down it's very peaceful here

Appreciating the little things, just woke up going to be working at 4pm so a little wander down to the harbour as a reminder is just the ticket.

We did that as kids (when you could do such things without going to prison lol) I was very disappointed that I couldn't make a small explosion. We've got to hand it to those terrorist chaps, they must have some skill P.s the world of shit I got in to when a neighbour told my old man he's found empty cartridges in the street was quite severe P.P.S it didn't put us off though, a few years later we burned down our next door neighbours shed P.P.S ironically my folks sold up and moved next door to that very house and are now having the shed knocked down for a greenhouse.....as I

They don't need to, they have software, computers and algos that do it all for them

I'm sure you need a naked flame to ignite the vapour so it shouldn't work. You can doubt fags in petrol.and the end is red hot. But it won't it ignite the petrol. Yes but petrol is volatile so surely it would evaporate? I think it might work

The biggest lesson I learned (I think?) is aspirations are just a lead weight around your neck and don't bring happiness to most of us. I was brought up by my baby boomer parents who had grown up in poverty but enjoyed the boom of free education, jobs for life, final salary pensions, the housing boom, the carpet bagging & privatisation of the public utilities. For the first time and probably the last time It was possible for regular hard working people to win at life and secure an amazing future. I had a job that was superior to my dads, he was a manager but I was a specialist in the o

I,m getting to the point in life were middle age is fast disappearing, but I,m getting to a point I need a change, either a little cottage in miles of woodland, or I,m considering renting out the house for ten years and moving onto a narrowboat and cruising the network before its time to be spoon fed and have my ass wiped I quite like the idea of renting our house out once we've finished doing it up, this is a popular place for holiday makers so we could even turn it in to a holiday let.

To be self sufficient or not to have to work would be my dream. I'm sick of my job sometimes I can work 12 hour night shifts for months without a day off I barely get to go outside other than for a cigarette or to the shops. Can't turn work down through fear that I might not get any more.

I had big dreams once, I believed that if I continued to work myself in to the ground for just a few more years I could end up with my dream house in the countryside. The last oil crash gave me a massive wake up call, I had a year of watching my dreams and hopes crumble in front of my eyes, my daughter was in her second to last year of primary school and I knew that once she was in the last year that it would be all over because moving a child just before secondary school is very hard. I also found out that she was getting bullied at school last year which increased the pressure on me. We

I can't believe I've missed a geology related topic lol, The Earth is 4.6 billion years old the science is as good as it gets, I can dig out my books for anyone who is interested. You can still be a scientist and have religious beliefs though, the bible was written by people who were trying to make sense of the world but that doesn't mean that there isn't a god. The way I look at it is that the Universe is apparently infinite, time could be infinite as well...does that not mean there could be infinite possibilities? Even if God doesn't exist I think the benefits of Christianity on our

and France Any updates on either Someone who had a firearm was shot by the police outside a hospital in Germany and there's no further details. There was some kind of explosion in a Macdonalds in France the news said there were some claims of a suspicious package. Minor events compared to what we're all used to these days

Anyone else ever seen wild wallabies in the UK? There was a small colony of them in Derbyshire (I think) that had escaped from a zoo. I saw them as a kid with Scouts. If that can happen I wouldn't be surprised the same thing could have happened with big cats.

So the millions passing through the ports don't count because they weren't technically in the UK? Is your problem with 'slavery' only with the whites that did it to blacks? As I have already said treating people like cattle (especially within their own ethnic groups) was the norm. It seems like it's special case when it was a black at the hands of a white yet the arabs sure get a pass as do the Africans who were up to their elbows in it. We also come to the question "what is slavery" how were the black slaves any different to the Brits forced to work down pits or mines for a pitta
