We're all watching the collapse of the EU, it's just happening so slowly it might not be obvious to all. I would love to see a big poll to see how many people think it will survive compared to those who think it will fail.

How much do you weight Kanny? I bet I could throw you 5 times further than I trust May

But who are they? People spunking their benefits on fags and sky? I'm just not seeing it....I'd like to meet these people, look at there finances and even look if they have the intelligence to shop and cook Most (not all) that my missus dealt with were very much like that Dido, the stories she used to tell me were toe curling. Having said that these same people's grand parents fought 2 world wars and built & fed this country literally with their bare hands, the state has created this and I believe 100% deliberately. Destroy the jobs, destroy social cohesion, destroy the fami

This is what you get with BIG government socialist states and yes all of the Western governments are highly socialist including our so called 'Conservative' party. It is not by accident that people are now utterly dependent on the government without the skills or education to fend for themselves. Read enough political philosophy and you will see this ideology has been ever encroaching on our society and government for a hundred years.

The problem is you have people who are encouraged to think they're in poverty and look to the government for help and wont help themselves. Food out of a packet costs way way more, people who don't work have no excuse not to look for bargains and cook from scratch, when the likes of Jamie Oliver (I don't particularly like him but his message was sound) criticized people for not cooking cheap meals over packet rubbish he was slaughtered by the lefties. When I cook I aim for £1-£1.5 per portion, we are lucky not to have to scrimp but I still want good meals for cheap...why waste money? It is

The word poverty used in this country is a total insult to people in real poverty, of course it's typical leftist tactics to encourage a feeling victimhood which they have exploited for decades. It's easy to feel hard done by as we can only compare our own life experiences to what we've had before so an easy trap to fall in to. I've seen things that made me feel ashamed about complaining about my own situation, I was driving through the desert to a rig once, it was a sh*thole on the edge of a town called Hassi Messoud in Algeria, big bags and rubbish everywhere. I thought I was driving thr

I think we,ve had a similar conversation before Wilf so i dont want to antagonize you but would you say you are ashamed of being English ? I had all these " is the grass greener " type of questions and it took me all of about 5 minutes to realise that yes it is.....but that still doesnt change who i am and where im from im a big rough kid off the estate im not ashamed of that who am i to turn my back on where im from. What Chris said is right if you dont like the situation then make changes and that for me is another part of the whole " living the dream " thing in that all be it small ch

This is interesting to listen to, it was made before Le Pen chose who her PM would be so is incorrect when they thought she might go for Fillon. The guest alludes to the fact that there is dirt on Macron, possibly financial irregularities and that a story will break before the final round. That could be a death sentence, the French seem to turn a blind eye to mistresses and even Macron's relationship with his teacher 25 years his senior which broke up a family but they tend to punish the corrupt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbLEZRJafz0

I spoke to two separate guys yesterday in Paris, both Parisians both said the EU as an idea has merit,in practice the way it's going it's not worth a wank and France would be better out, both conversations sparked off when they had asked where I came from and both had started on about brexit. If I understand it correctly as President (even without a majority FN government) she can still hold referenda without parliament. That is interesting what they said, Le Pen only has 5% popularity in Paris, it's pretty much the same as London, very liberal and pro EU

My dear old Grandad had a saying......"out of debt.....out of danger" The problem with today's society is that people are encouraged to live beyond their means....and the silly sods do ! I agree with both of you. At the moment I don't see any reason to try and pay off the mortgage since the interest rate is so low but I am trying to spend as little as possible and save enough so I could pay off most of it if needed.

We're a week off, I think she is going to do far better than the polls suggest and I think she stands a good chance of winning it. It's going to be interesting
-
That was the bad side of dropping interest rates, now they can't raise rates because that will pop the debt bubble but if they don't it will keep getting bigger.

Like Trump having shares in the company making the Tomahawks that were sent into Syria, pushing the share price up? Although that could be fakes news??? So don't quote me on that..... Can we regular people invest in bombs and missiles? I would have loved to get in on that a few years ago
-
technically we did because we had 'growth' and they also fudge the inflation figures. In reality I think we've had stagnation at best
-
I agree but since people were and still are going crazy borrowing huge amounts of cash and while interest rates are at record lows it seems to me that there aren't enough sensible voices warning people. Imagine if interest rates went up to 5% after all these years of people being used to 1-2%, on a 250k mortgage that would be horrendous. The selfish part of me is looking forward to a housing crash, I could buy back in with second house at a very low price and secondly so I can say I told ya so
-
I agree, I'm not worrying for ourselves because we're set up to survive financially for a fair while if it happens. It's just something I've been mulling over, as you say they're cyclical, we've had 8 years since the last one so one must be due fairly soon.

P.S I also predicted the oil crash that happened in 2014, we were getting the kitchen done and I said to the wife, after this we're saving for the next crash unfortunately I was 6 months out and it happened just as the finishing touches were being applied

Aye but it paid off when my mates were losing their houses lol
-
Haha......he's a proper bundle of laughs our Nik........haha... Thanks lol As the Lehmann collapse was unfolding in 2008 oil prices rocketed everyone I knew was buying cars and houses, my gut told me the sh*t was about to hit the fan so I paid off everything I could, the car, student loans and credit cards getting my outgoings down by about 800 per month. By Jan 2009 prices crashed to $25 and thousands of people in our company lost their jobs. I hung on for 6 months and then got laid off three times over the coarse of 1 1/2 years resulting in my becoming a consultant. I didn't

Historically they tend to happen quite regularly every 7-12 years, in recent history the longest period between them I believe was the 90s up to the financial crash around 17 years although the US had a very minor one in that period. Not every recession ends in total disaster though, some are worse that others but if the economy is in dire straights and there is no room to lower interest rates (like now) there are no tools to use to stimulate growth. I'm no expert and don't really no anything about the economy in general but I listen to my gut feeling and I've had an uneasy feeling for qui

Thanks for doing this the both of you, I'm neither a believer nor disbeliever but it wouldn't surprise me if there were big cats in the UK.
