  1. Nice shot, and a nice piece of mature woodland to shoot.
  2. Nice fishing, and good to see the use of a mat. Too many times round here I see inexperienced anglers letting pike bounce around on hard earth banks whilst they desperately search for some long forceps and a thick gardening glove for fear of a slight laceration.
  3. Don't know if this is any help but down on the South Coast fly fishermen do well catching them on flies tied to represent the sandfly maggots that get washed out the rotting seaweed on the shore as the tide comes in. You can tie a good imitation by using a small strip of latex glove wrapped around the hook. http://www.mikeladle.com/tackle/tackle129.html
  4. Nice shooting, yes can't wait till cover dies back down here too. We have to leave ferreting until later each year due to cover taking so long to die back these days. All our ferreting is in thick hedgerows and its not much fun battling shoulder high nettles and hogweed when its still warm.
  5. Hi Tim, Yes, doing fine here just back to long days and busy weekends when there is never enough time to cram everything in. The swim I prebaited was next to a bridge so hanging something probably wouldn't go down too well with those that lived nearby so I opted for sweetcorn and pellet every morning at 7am on the way to work. I do use the 'plastic pigeon' method when trotting the river with a stick float by using a cut down plastic rod tube sealed at the base with holes drilled in the sides, filled with maggots and then suspended from a tree or bush over where the float will glide.
  6. Well for the past week I've been baiting up a swim on our local river for some elusive big chub. All set last night and set-up for 9pm. Was looking good then twenty minutes later a chap and his son with the brightest headtorch in all the world gatecrashes the swim not knowing I'm there as they look for the fish. Well that was game over so this evening I opted for a peaceful two hours up at the copse, or so I hoped. Set up in my usual place hoping for some pigeons. Soon a magpie came in when I took him out all hell broke loose as up to another eight magpies came swooping in to mob their fa
  7. Cheers Mark, its a great gun in superb condition owned by a shooting friend who just finds it a bit too heavy for his use as he is getting on in the years.
  8. View Advert Weihrauch HW97K .177 A very well looked after HW97K .177 that is about three years old. Selling on behalf of a shooting friend who takes great care with all his guns. This one has just a couple of very minor superficial marks on the stock. Bluing is perfect. It has probably only seen a couple of tins of pellets through it. Serial number 2063798.Comes with an old fixed mag Nikko Sterling scope that has very clear optics. Gunslip also included. Advertiser chrismdd Date
  9. I've kept a load of the key feathers as I do dabble in a bit of fly fishing myself. Plenty of wild brown trout on our club's river.
  10. Couple of hours up the copse and the cheap ghillie suit helps bag a first jay for the S410.
  11. Great shooting, half a dozen eggs for a crow is a good swap.
  12. Tried out the cheap ghillie suit and they never saw me!
  13. Nice couple of trips out. Jays must be the most wariest quarry to shoot.
  14. Nice shooting patience paid off. Is that a trouser-leg covering your rifle?
  15. Great write-up of a nice session. Can be tough at this time of year until enough fields get cut and it doesn't get properly dark until very late.
  16. Great shots, still liking the look of that stock from a traditional wood man.
  17. Nice, always fancied one of those rifles.
  18. Asked to pop up the road to sort out some bunnies that were trying to destroy the veggie patch and lawn. This meant that any rabbit needed to be taken not that I like taking the youngsters especially as we have been hit hard by mixy the last couple of years. However, it was pleasing to see a lot of healthy rabbits about so hopefully the numbers will bounce back for the ferreting season. Managed five rabbits before setting off to sit under some ash trees to await the pigeons. Plenty came in but were now impossible to pick out in the foliage although one bandit made the mistake of coming too clo
  19. And from tasting it many years ago I can vouch for your brewing skills. I've still got your two empty bottles in the garage if ever you are down this way. Still on the Airarms site and using them?

Amazing bag. Surprised there is any grass left.
  21. Thanks for all the replies. I've had a look around and may get the following after seeing a few reviews including one on youtube. Anyone got one of these or again are they basically the same kit in a different case? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eyoyo-Waterproof-Multifunction-RangeFinder-Camouflage/dp/B01MTOVK77/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1527362474&sr=8-4&keywords=range+finder
  22. Nice shooting, stock is looking good. Is the grey parts of a softer moulding than the green section?
  23. Cheers for the info VM, much appreciated.
