  1. Thats one hell of of an accolade nettrigger, thank you and thanks for all the info of late The net has 100% bagging, so that makes it 200yrd of net  i stopped counting the hours after about 60
  2. And behind every good sheep there's a shepherd whats the prob as long as you have your wellies on?
  3. my fecker had the xmas turkey and gammon on xmas day, have a look under xmas dinner thread....... and no i didnt laugh, nor did the wife
  4. they are from a slightly lighter weight twine that has been doubled up, colour is just how it came
  5. There seems to have been a few posts about longnetting of late but, how many of us know about the amount of work that goes into making a long net? What has happened to all those time honoured skills that were the main stay of a mans income from years ago? It was this line of thinking that got me started on my last project. In my working life i use many long nets and purse nets, some are quick set and some are trad set. All catch rabbits but some feel better to handle and some, dare i say it are bloody awfull to use on certain ground. It was with this in mind i set out to make myself a trad set
  6. Nice meshes Netrigger - I suppose Molecatcher will want the middle removed from his now Like ive said to you many times before crow, better to be the shepherd than a sheep Baaaaaaaa
  7. i tell you what, you boys dont know what a real catty is. take a look at mine. To make 1 you will need 3 tonne of finest english oak, seasoned of course. 500 yrds of strong lashings and of course dont forget the projectile. The best being either a non compliant infadel, a 1tonne rock flaming for effect or, in the case of a siege a dead rotton cow (that gets the buggers out of their castle)
  8. that type of trap but for rats sells in their shop at Bungay in suffolk for 5.99 so i would query their price guide. Crow as your brother is a pro traper why did you not think to ask him for help? im sure he would have droped his price to help you out?
  9. this is the type of gauge that i use, as you can see in the pic it is a little rough and ready but it does the job and as it was free i shouldnt complain  I do like that alloy needle that you made crow, that is a real work of art, not like the ones you can buy of ebay. I admire your workmanship, well done
  10. Best way is to get yourself some good quality mole traps and have a play with them. Its not differcult if you take time to learn the basics. its not something you would be able to learn from myself or anyone replying in short to a post but here are a few basic tips that should help you out a bit. 1, look for the most resent mounds of earth (mole hills) and locate the tunnel running between them,do this with a prob or a large screw driner. 2, using a small garden trowel or, if you can find one a mole spade, break into the tunnel with just a big enough hole to fit the trap into place
  11. I know what you meen about the lurcher being a thieving b*****d, shame my new wife, who has up untill she met me, never had the pleasure of lurchers in the house. oh well you live and learn. i wouldnt mind but the wife had only 5 mins earlier given them the leg meat. mind you it was a good excuse to have a few beers that nite,to get over the shock of the day That reminds me of an old lurcher of mine who ran in a strangers caravan and came out with a box of 4 frozen beef burgers, but that as they say is another story.
  12. Well folks i hope you all had a lovely christmas diner. Me and the wife would have had but the bloody dog had the meat off the kitchen work top. Please dont laugh, it wasnt funny 1lb gammon ham and about 2lb of sliced turkey gone in a few seconds. my 3/4grey x collie was the one who pulled it off the side and was then joined by the bedyxwhipp to enduldge it what must have been a meal of a lifetime. When i walked into the kitchen i was met by my wife near to tears and the plate on the floor with the 2 greedy feckers looking up at me licking thier lips. Have you ever noticed how fast
  13. Hi there just found your post, are you still looking for these nets? regards molecatcher
  14. I would stick to hunting,its safer
  15. Mine aint. Mine are all square mesh made by myself. if you make them this way you dont need a top line it naturaly has one then if you use heavy line on the bottom it doesnt have to be pegged. make one try it then comment. not wanting to add petrol to a hot bed of disscussion, if you make it square mesh would it not still need a top line for the bagging to slide? Just got a pic in my minds eye that without a top line it would be tight between poles to stop it sagging, thus having no baggin, thus defeating the object of a long net? only my view point of course, perhaps you would
  16. Back in the early 90s i had a BSA Supersport in .25. Trajectory was like that of a ww2 artillery piece and at the time pellets were hard to get hold of, i think i could only get some called Rhino"s, cant remember what make they were. They stopped what they hit but in the 12ft lb rifles not worth the extra cost of ammo and they can be a bit inconsistant in flight, may be differant nowdays. I would stay with either .177, .20,or .22 unless going for an fac. Point of question: because of how the laws work regarding muzzel energy rather than muzzle speed,ie fps. what makes people think that a .2
  17. Well netrigger, what can i say? cracking net made by a true gent. trouble is im now going to be too ashamed to show you my little effort
  18. Funny ole world we live in dont you think? Only this morning i was at a friends workshop playing with a welder and some steel when a customer of his walks in. Work stops and a brew is got underway. So there i am talking between my mate and Mr Joe public when the conversation turns to what do i do for a living? pest control i reply, mans face drops and he then asks me is it nesercery that i do this kind of work? excuse me i reply? somewhat bemused. Cant you leave all gods creatures alone and let them sort there own numbers out? he throws in. A bit stumped and taken aback i sat there not

  20. I like the way the WPC has her knee in his love spuds
  21. 12 mesh deep and at the moment 2045 rows long. s*@t im turning into a net anorak
  22. cheers Bro. like you said,it is a knot and knots can be untied, tangles cant
  23. The best long net is the one you make yourself, none of this cheep imported stuff. Ok it takes time and efort and maybe cost a few quid over the odds but it worth it in the long run and they are much more easy to handle. this is a 100 yrd spun nylon one that im working on at the moment. when its finished it would have cost me about 60quid,but its going to be worth it .
