  1. [get yourself down to the army surplus store and ask for german parra boots. i bought mine for 25quid 4yrs ago, there warm waterproof and have a leather welt. This means they can be re-soled. ok you dont look like a proper hunter(i dont think they come in real tree)but your feet will be warm and dry and you wont lose any sleep about the price

  10. Today i woke during a wonderfull dream. There i was stood on a coursing field that i used to frequant before the ban, the morning fog still hanging over the newly rolled field. This was such a vivid dream that i was not stood there alone. Many faces of people i know and have had the pleasure of being in the company of where there. picture the scene, the shy,the slipper, the judge on horse back. The first pair of greyhounds were in the slips waiting for puss to make an apearance. after a short wait as the beaters walked in the surrounding fields puss made her apearance. So started the first cours
  11. x ray results have shown that the original dislocation has fussed(calloused?) and shouldnt be a prob. The problem is that now there is no web joining the toe to the next when he turns the toe (which is the outside toe) has now became isolated strenth wise making it easy for the to to become dislocated at the next joint up the toe. This is what has happened, twice in 4wks. In his professinal opinion this will always be somthing that may happen when the dog is ran. As i work him and he is too young to retire(3.5yrs) he has asked me to consider what i feel is the best option for the dog,not me. T
  12. my vet has a vested interest in causing greyhounds and has been around them for yrs. he was saying today that because there is no web between the toe and the next this will always be a prob, ive had running dogs myself now for 25yrs plus and ive seen many toe injuries, some of which you all have mentioned. Taping thek up is going to be awkward because of the foot shape and yes taking the toe off is the last option but what can i do if it does come to that? it is just good old bad luck that caused him to get the tumor in the first place. Having a further chat with the vet Friday to discuss optio
  13. [you mention road walking, this i do a plenty. this toe has been a prob since he knocked up 2years ago, the jiont has fussed and become a mass of bone so it stops any upward movement. But because he now has no web between this toe and the next because of having a tumor removed, it seems that any time he even thinks about doing anything but walking it comes out sideways at 90degrees. My vet is a dog man himself, coursing greyhounds over in ireland so im sure he has seen this many times before. Like you said my maim concern is how his foot will be in the long run regarding the other toes and the f
  14. Im surprissed that non of the running dog experts havnt given me an insight into their wisdom on this prob. Any how ive just been on the phone to the vet and he thinks that as the toe has again gone out today whilst walking there is only one option and that is to remove the toe. The cost of this will be between 200 & 290 quid. Who needs that this close to christmas huh That said a quick recovery will meen a healthy dog for the remander of the season, hopefully no more toe probs
  15. sounds to me that this P*!k that you got this ferret off should get his head out of those good old books that tell you all there is to know about ferrets. Once his head is out and looking clearly into the light of the modern world of ferrets, perhaps he may wake up. I doupt that a chap like this would see how barbaric this kind of thing is. how would he get on if some f*!%er ripped his teeth out :aggressive:
  16. takes the eye off the wellies only kidding mate, like the look of the dog in the bottom pic
  17. ive used the mk1s and i find them to be ok,maby a little under powered mag wise(think there 2.5). they do give you an eye on whats going on although not as clear as some might think. saying that they are worth the money because it gives you the chance to see whats going on. i would say that at about 100yards you can tell what it is you are looing at although there isnt a great deal of detail, more of a silhouette. the eyes of any animal show up like a torch so at the very least they can be used for spotting befor you switch on the lamp. i dont know how the mk2s will be as ive not used them but
  18. TUT TUT only kidding, finders keepers?
  19. better setting the net on 6 uprights ! keeps the lines taut. call me old fashioned but i use hazel, nice and light and costs feck all. still use them in a basket no probs. (perhaps im just a tight a*!e huh)

  21. Im running a 3/4greyx collie and i can tell you that given the right upbringing you wont be disappointed. Brains, speed, strength as well as being a tryer.he takes large & small. Only one down side, staminer isnt that of a suluki x. That said they will take Hares (not that you would of course ) Ive found the first cross to be a bit heavy set
