  1. Thats very true in what you have said, wording is all important. My wife saw the run down of the news so recorded it for me to watch when i returned from work. he's wording was as follows Quote:A keeper was fined for using an illegal trap, unquote Quote: there is proberbly hundreeds of keepers using these illagal traps around the countryside, unquote. like you said Mrs Russell, had he worded it as being used in an illegal manner then he would have been correct in his statement. Perhaps im a little on the sad side for picking up on this but as i use a vast amount of traps in my work and try
  2. Tonight on the local news i see that the media have got it wrong AGAIN. A keeper on the Queens estate has been found guilty of trapping a owl with a fenn trap. Problem was he didnt cover it with a tunnel as he should have done. A bad bit of trapping by a man who should have known better. This is where i started to see red,The t@*t of a reporter then went on to say(more than once) that he,the keeper was found guilty of using an illegal trap. worse bit was when he then went on to state that these traps ARE ILLEGAL TO USE and that THERE ARE PROBERBLY HUNDREDS OF KEEPERS UNDERTAKING THERE WORK WIT
  3. this is the pic of the bitch that i put my dog over this is my dog(the sire) and these are some of the pups(2wks old) any one interested in a pup please pm me
  4. just gutted a hare that was shot this morning, full of young. strange world [bANNED TEXT]!
  5. i would put only half that in. the yeast in the beer turns the suger into alcohol,to much suger and it will be too much for the yeast. do you have any books on home brew?
  6. chuck it all in and give it a good ster and let nature take its course, dont over do the suger. Are you planning on haveing a very merry chritmas ? PS it helps if you keep it in a warm place
  7. rabbit hunter, just how many yrds of quick set have you personaly set? it is planely clear to me that you havnt set that much with this method, quote: top line sags after a few good hits by the bunnies, unquote. so educate me here, does this not happen with the trad set net? quick set has the disadvantage of being a b@rsted if the top line is chewed, how can that be any worse than if the top line were chewed on the trad set net? surely on the quick set you only have 5yrd of top line between pegs that are fixed were as on the trad net you still have 5yrd of top line between pegs but, in thi
  8. Answer: yes you can,add more suger and some more brewers yeast and start an second fermentation.works for me
  9. Im out again next wk,put a trap in and see what happens.Keep you informed
  10. Out today doing a bit of pike fishing, tryed all we could to lure a fish into taking our baits but to no avail, another blank. What was interesed were the bloody north american cray fish. untill we poped up our baits they all ended up like this My mate did miss one though Still, cant win them all but i will take a crayfish trap next time, fishermans revenge
  11. [f. But obviously you guys are not in the position to do that . As i do this for a living i have to be a bit more held back in my responce, saying that sometimes it can be a bit hard to hold my lip best way is not to rise to there anger
  12. It doesnt matter how you try and take into acount the fact that not all people will like what you do,someone will always try and give you a hard time about it. i work a golf course for moles and it can be a pain when people interfere with either the traps of slag me for what im doing. The best advise i can offer is carry the writen permission with you (a copy is best as ive had people snatch it from my hand and tear it up) show it to who ever and most importantly keep your cool. if you can do it on a wk day, less players about. all the best
  13. this is what i use,not as classy as a pcp but out in the field it hasnt let me down. this is a nice no thrills work horse. HW95k complete with the record trigger which i find hard to beat for a true 2stage trigger
  14. my mate works as a genetisist(excuse the spelling) he's working on breeding ferrets that have real tree fur for all those tackle tarts I WOULD HAVE 1 OF THEM put it down you would never find it again. :11:
  15. As the advert once said ''ITS GOOD TO TALK"" nettrigger, that green twin you sent me,the thin stuff, im about to start knitting a net with some stuff of the same type but in brown. i will keep you posted to the results, when i start it depends on when i get me finger out :11:
  16. chalkwarren i was just turning things over in my head,to much time on my hands. like youself ive a few yrs exp with the nets but i still like others opinions on things. thanks for the posts best i just leave it as it is and get out and do bit. happy netting to all
  17. its 100yrd long with hazle pegs set at 5 yrds. the total length of net over 100yrds is in fact 200yrds. what you cant see in the pic is because of the wind im in fact holding the loose bagging out of the way for the pics.when set there is 10yrds of net hanging over a 5 yrd distance (2-1bagging)
  18. im having good results with corn on the cob as well as chocolate at the moment. the only prob with choc is you have to warm it first to get the pin through it.this i do buy sucking it first, only prob is once its in me gob the tree rats can get fecked, its mine and im eating it the traps i use are home made with an s shaped pin for the bait which hangs,a treadle springs the trap. just in case people were wondering
  19. Point of question to chalkwarren: you said your nets prefered witdth is 12 mesh high, that being so at what hight would you be setting your nets? the start of this post was just out of curiosity, hoping to get an insight into other peoples methods. all it has done is open up more questions. I think what many have said is true, adapt your methods to suit your needs. as chalkwarren rightly said there is no definitive tool but it pays to keep your mind open to each others ways. over the many years that ive netted it still surprise's me how each mans methods differ.
  20. But getting such nets is harder and as my net making skills are piss poor, i may have to practice a bit or sweet talk someone into making me a few Its no good you winking at me,ive made you enough nets to date,
  21. my mate works as a genetisist(excuse the spelling) he's working on breeding ferrets that have real tree fur for all those tackle tarts
  22. JOEB Can i say how comforting it is to see a lurcher owner who doesnt feel the need to be seen as a hard nosed dogman buy taking the easy route, of either shooting or pasing on a damaged dog. Full respect to you Joeb and best wishes for your dogs speedy recover. PS Top marks for gaining copys of the xrays. PPS: just a thought, ask your vet if giving your dog Lactol puppy milk would it aid bone growth, or calcium powder?
  23. hello Mr W, glad i have the wealth of your knowledge at my disposal :thumbs-up: would a net made from smaller mesh result in bounce offs only if the net was set at a hight were the net is too high resulting in the rabbit not enmeshing itself properly? would this prob be less likely if you were to add more running kill? my setting hight is about 18-20inch high, this in my eyes allows the rabbit to be pass under the top line befor it hits the back of the net,add to this the running kill and the rabbit being well back in the net, surely a smaller mesh size would not be a problem? what about rab
