  1. Im glad you have had a few shots at it, this hides the missed shots i had taken There great fun and it helps keep your eye in when days out in the field are few and far between.
  2. sadly lurchers will do what they do best if left to there on devices, kill things. Im lucky in where i live and work my dogs, not much stock in the fields but they still need to be stock trained.Purely coinsidental but im out with 3 people today who have pups from my dog to do there first real bit of stock work. These are all pet homes who have asled me to show them how to go about introducing the pups to stock so they can move the pup on with its training. Snoops: i feel for you chap, nothing worse than being let down by someone whos a mate and then you are left holding the bits and piec
  3. Whos a smart arse then? Im looking for an apprentise, fancy it? mind you im begining to think you can teach me a thing or two very well done but like ditch says, GO CATCH THE REST

  6. There i was sitting in a hide at 4.30ish this morning waiting or the sun to rise on yet another strange but interesting job. The removal of noisey ferrels and doves from a customers garden being the order of the day. Alls gone well and said birds are removed with no fuss at all leaving me at one with the world. On the way to my next customer i thought i would be smart and kill to birds with one stone (no pun intended) and call in to look at an on going rabbit job. Get to said address and duely greeted by an unknow woman. ''hello says'' I '' is Mr smith at home?"" " no hes not" replies woman

  9. As above, asking for a friend as he is not on the internet please pm me details regards MC
  10. ARRRR another dyke jumper from these here parts Please note: the term dyke jumping has nothing to do with getting your sexual pleasures from the local bull dyke once youve downed copius amounts of rough cider. But how do you find dwile-flonking compares to the most traditional of country pursuits.........cow tipping? or cow pat frizzbies ( mind the moist ones ) My sisters fathers youngest sons only brother whos married to his mothers eldest daughters 2nd of two brothers is fair good at this here cow tipping. he once tipped 57 cows in one moonlit night. He aint no darn go
  11. I do a fair amount of dwarf throwing, its been banned in norfolk as its seen as a little dirogotory to those of us suffering from hight distortion.
  12. How did you get on with that blokes contact details i gave you?
  13. looks to me as if something bigger than a rabbit has had its foot in that mate Any severed rabbits heads at any of your other snares?
  14. With the salvedged edge meshs you will be wanting it to be at least 14 mesh deep(wide) the factory net is 16 mesh deep. As for lenght of net that all depends on how long you want to keep knitting. 25yard long = 900 rows of 14mesh deep =12,600 meshs thrown 50yard long= 1800 rows of 14mesh deep = 25,200 meshs thrown 74yard long= 2700 rows of 14mesh deep= 37,800 meshs thrown 100yard long=3600 rows of 14mesh deep = 50,400 meshs thrown that is how much work is involved in making your own net, still want to have a go at it? As chalkwarren said, a hand made net is the dogs do-dar to use
  15. for a 4ft net i knit it as follows using a 2.1/8 mesh board 9 direct onto ring another row of 9 take it out to 11 then 13 then 15 then 17 then 19 another 8 rows at 19 back in to 17 then 15 then13 then 11 then 2 rows of 9 this makes a lovely wide purse net at 4ft long, cant see the point of worrying about skimping on twine as a net of this size will only use the same amount of twine as a 3ft net knitted at 15mesh deep straight through. At the end of the day you want to catch rabbits, why make your nets small and risk an escape?
  16. Here you go mate, hundreds of targets to print off www.targetz.com please note, this is not a direct link, you will have to type it in on the search bar, good shooting
  17. This statement is a little disturbing, but not as desturbing as the one i heard the other day. I WAS TOLD WOMAN HAVE ORGASMS I told my mate to stop talking shite, woman and orgasms, never heard anything so daft in all my life
  18. I put up a thread back in late December about making a hand made net called Keeping traditional skills alive. From about the age of 12 (25YRS+NOW) i was taught to use long nets at night in the trad way with end pins, but the las2 yrs i use manely baskets but i do prefer the trad way of using them when i get the chance. Its nice to see after all these yrs the long net is making a come back in poplurarity but if some of us dont keep using the trad set nets the skill needed to set in this way will sadly die out. Dont get me wrong, im all for advancement but i also like to keep the old skills aliv
  19. FECK ME, ive just brusied my elbows as i fell of my chair
  20. I have a 1man Terry Hearn Bivvy up for grabs, double skinned with extra heavy weight winter skin, built in ground sheet, very minor damage, ie pull tag missing off one of the zips, marks on ground sheet (no nasty stuff ) Pm me if interested
  21. Nice healthy rabbits by the look of it. do you allways use the quick set or do you also use the trad set nets?
