  1. mike the dog, i think you will find its like this type of net basket, you know the one that simon whitehead was showing you early on this season whilst out with you and your netting partner. Only the one you saw was of a take apart design to help save space when storage can be a problem at 40quid posted i think there a good deal Masterhunter. on your 20yrd stop net the poles seem to be 10yrds apart as you describe it, do you find this a little bit of a distance causing the top line to sag upon a rabbit striking the net?
  2. wasnt the same article done by brian brinded last month?

    4z or 6z?

4z is a fine killing net, its normally the quality of the manifacture that lets the net down. ive worked for yrs 4z nets in the trad set manner and find they hold rabbits just as well as the 6z. when you look at the price its a case of you get what you pay for and even the 6z can be a little shoddy in its make up. Saying that i also use hand made nets and find you cant beat the feel when working these nets as well as the way they catch, but then again not all of us can make our own nets or have the cash to spend on a good hand made net

  8. politics seem a many faced animal, changing as it suits. but what ive found interesting is reading peoples views and how the old wounds from the thatcher yrs still burn hard. Ok i dont come from a mining town so i cant for one moment begin to understand the hart ache of seeing all the pits close and with it the seemingly end to many a mans working life and work coulture. What i have seen however is the blatant lies and misstruths of this new labour. I live in a labour run area with our local MP being one of the worst at helping sort the real issues, rather wanting to get his picture in the loc

  13. many thanks you 3 thanks john b for the links, look at those when i have more time Like ive said the area has a long military back ground, the duplex drive tanks and hobarts funnys were tested here in secret prior to the D-day landings. the history books show there being a garrison here way back over the centurys. A farm worker has permission to metal detect around this area and has found allsorts from usaaf badges to plane parts at crash sites to last year a live granade he will be someone i contact for more info and anything i find out i will post to let you all know. again many
  14. whilst on my rounds today this little item turned up in the bottom of a mole tunnel. I know its a buckle and the crown is what i believe to be of an early type, before King George V. I would be gratfull for anyone with any info as to its age and if it is a regimental buckle or a general purpose dress type. There is no makers name on it and its made from solid brass, not plated. Where it was found there is a long history of military involvment in this area going back further than Oliver Cromwell so it could be old or relitively new. The crown is set on a background of horizont
  15. Now blair has left the big house and that lovely fellow mr brown has taken over, whats folks views on the way he will make his mark? More so will he in anyway re-shape hunting as it stands at this moment in time?
  16. ITS NOT A SUFER DUDE, ITS MR BLAIR WAVING GOOD BYE TO HIS ADORING FANS
  17. When using end pins on long nets in the traditional manner the reason for free running lines is two fold. If they were tied to the ring when you go about half hitching the running lines round the tops and bottoms of the hazel poles, it will be highly unlikely that you will have used the same amount length of twine on both the top and bottom runners and this would course either of the two lines to become slack and the other being shorter. secondly any running lines that are biten through by a rabbit can be repaired and as the lines are free running again it wont upset the even spread of lin
  18. im not impling for one moment you and yours have bought this upon yourselves, if you read my first post you will see there is nothing but respect for those who have chossen this path in life. SHAMAN, if they didnt sign up for the guts and glory what did they sign up for? the respect, the pension, the trips to far off lands? yes ive seen the job centre vids and this is how life in the army is shown but come on , be real. In this modern age of media exposure your not telling me that any person wanting to join the forces hasnt seen at some point the carnage of war on their tv screens. If it
  19. heres my entry, im sure it went 20.5inch but i will leave that to the judges not the best of pics but as you can see, she was a big un. this rat was shot by my bro as it was raiding the ferret run

  22. FULL RESPECT TO EACH AND EVERY ONE WHOS FIGHTING OUT THERE AND I HOPE EVERYONE RETURNS SAFE AND WELL TO THEIR FAMILYS. BUT, without wanting to sound nasty when you join the forces you do it in the knowledge that you will at some point maybe putting your life on the line for another mans cause. I have friends out in both the afgan and those who have been seving in iraq and i have had this conversation many times with all of them and each man agrees with what iam about to say. You join up knowing the risks, you take the queens coin in peace time so you should be willing to take it in times
  23. just in the process of building a one off works 4x4. so far its fully air conned, wide off road wheels, up rated suspension, external roll bar. jobs left to do include fitting the bucket seat, 4 point harness and the snorkel. And the brakes need some attention as well. then its all ready for the nice nato green paint job. Just the ticket for roaring round the suffolk wastelands. My boys cant wait to have a go, but first us big kids have some safety road testing to do first  Of course any time its my go its purely in the interest of safety
