As a member of this forum who has experiance of both track and coursing greys, this is how i see what frank is trying to say. Treat each dog as an individual and look at its own problems in there own way. Dont expect them to be like a well trained lurcher when you get them, some never do gain the slightest bit of training abillity. This is not to say they all dont or wont. DONT TAKE RISKS WITH A NEW WARD around other dogs as untill you have the dog for a while you wont be that sure of its temprament. Will they come back when let off the lead? yes after you have put in the effort to get the

Hunter: Air gun shooting is indeed a fine art and worth all the time spent learning the skills needed to gain good marksmanship as well as field craft. If your budget is around 300quid you will be surprised what level of outfit you will be able to buy 2nd hand. Take your time in choosing a rifle and if possible shoulder it and think about how it feels, how an under lever as opposed to say a break barrel would effect your style of shooting ect ect. Remember it is better to spend your cash wisely the first time and enjoy what you buy rather than simply make do. On the subject of shooting

Was out the other nite with a mate who shoots an ultra in single shot. very accurate gun and i wouldnt let the storys of a small resivour put you off. didnt need to refill once and we had a good bag at the end of the night. The only thing i found with the gun is this, as ive shot for yrs with rifles that are a fair bit longer in length i found i was prone to pull the rifle of center, THIS IS A FAULT WITH ME, NOT THE RIFLE I KNOW but i would hazzard a guess it may take some of us a while to learn to handle a short rifle. I found that i was doing the same with the AA s410 karbine, but again this

It is also common for rabbits that live in wet areas to carry the wiels disease (lepto spyrosis ?) if that same area is occupied by rats

Back in the early to mid 90s here in suffolk and norfolk VHD raped most of the rabbit population where it struck. It was due to the fact it was to good at wiping out the rabbits the disease killed off its host, thus rendering it no more. This is not to say it hasnt or wont make a come back as im sure it will in time. You cant mistake it if you see it, blood coming from all body orrifices, nose , mouth, anus ect ect. they hold no boby weight in the run up to a painfull death and the rabbits look skeletal in ther outward apperance. out of this and myxi this is i feel the more nasty of two ba

Leaving the site because you offered to copy a dvd, shit, im sure if we were all honest and left because our peice of mind over the rights and wrongs of offering to copy a dvd, or owning a copyied dvd,was such that we couldnt sleep soundly at night this site would loose a few of its promernant members. Come on folks be honest, how many of those asking for him to leave have copys of dvds in their collection? Only differance is he was foolish to offer openly.

lepus , latin for hare as leveller said. also us anglo saxons worshiped the hare and called her the puss (cat) of the corn (lepus?) as has been said because of her actions when out in the field. As for witches changing in to a fimiliar (a witch in animal form) to gain a feed off a cow? who knows

BSA supersport is just a slightly un-modified fore runner of the BSA lightning and many folk have good results with theirs at the legal limit as it stands, 12ft lb. It is because of the law regarding muzzel energy rather than muzzle volocity, that we have a ft per second differance of some 200ft per second within the 2 calibres. Rather than speed being the factor that dictates a weopon being legal, it is judged upon its muzzle energy, its impact punch if you like. So in order to give a .177 pellet at half the weight of a .22 pellet the same punch, it is by law aloud to travel faster to com

Pricing a rabbit job
mole catcher replied to Rabbithunter's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Many a true word spoken by mole trapper there. How many sportsman on here rabbit for the sport of it and dont get paid for it? many i expect. this is something else your up against, the lad in the village who can do it for free. not that im down crying any who do, fair play to you all. Is it realy that simple to go to the large farmers and tout for bussines? sure you will get the jod or rabbit clearance but wait till you ask to be paid for it by them thay would soon as tell you to piss off and dont be so silly, a farmer paying you to rid them of their rabbits, not round here they want -
Dont meen to sound like an old woman here, but what hight are you working those nets at? they seem to be set high on the poles leaving the net a bit tought. as im sure you know a long net needs to have a bag from its top and bottom lines as well as a running kill (the bagging) asuming the poles are the standard 4ft poles it looks in the pic as if you have a setting hight of possible 36inch, i and most netters i know have a setting hight of about 18-20 inch. Please note: this is not ment as a dig or an insult to one mans methods, just an observation

Problems catching mystery beast in our ceiling
mole catcher replied to Madcowz's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I s**t you not. on one tree rat in the loft job i was called to, i was amazed a few days later to have caught a shrew in the trap ( not caught as such as the trap hadnt sprung). YES A SHREW Curled up on the shredded paper in the back of the cage trap. the customer said it sounded like a rhino dancing in high heels up there at nigh. never did get a tree rat from there though, noise stopped when i released the shrew. -
Would you let your dogs take on this boar?

fooking wind up, must be either that or that 11year old kids got balls of steel to stand and shoot something that big with a pistol -
Theres a few good net makers on this site i believe

im off out in a bit so i will try and post pics tomorow both styles have their advantages as well as dissadvantages

Firstly, are you going to use the net in a quick set fashion ie; with a basket or will you be using it in traditional style, with end pins? Quick set with the net attached permanantly to your poles, i would regardles of material of the pole use bands made from cutting an old cycle inner tube in to 1/2 inch wide bands, pass these through the running lines and kepp doubleing them up till they hold tight to your poles. Trad style needs the poles to be removed after each setting has finished, so i would advise the use of hazel or simalar poles with 3 groves cut into the top 2inch of the p
