  1. Hi all, Does anyone know the best way for sharpening a Helle Fjelkniven? It seems to be a triple laminate, single beveled blade. It was fairly sharp when i bought, i thought i'd try and make it a bit sharper - but screwed up What i have been doing in my attempts is using a Fallkniven DC4 sharpening stone which has a fiarly fine diamond side and a smooth ceramic side. I've been watching a few vids on you tube but there's a myriad of different methods and i don't want to mess it up anymore! Thanks! Tris
  2. 'Titanic Nautical Mild' that has the be one the coolest names for a beer i've ever heard!
  3. Sorry to hear about that mate I had a similar thing happen on my S400, but the barrel had twisted on the clip at the end. As soon as i slacked off the grub screw it snapped back into place under the pressure. To be fair, mine had probably taken quite a knock and never happened again. Though, to hear this is a common fault on the HW100 is surprising - considering they are 1. Expensive 2. German 3. Made by one of the leaders in the field ??? And the same thing happened to Jasper's Daystate?!! Shocking. I've been debating what rifle to be next; by debating i mean waiting till i can aff

But it'd feel like going out on the razz with no money and letting people you've just met pay - fun in hindsight but poo in the process! Best Hi Tris. Fair enough mate........bring your own flask and cake then Bill. Cool! Let's do it! Hi Rossy, if you typed something in your last message it didn't come out! Best Tris

  8. If he's interested in it - then my advice is to buy it. Rifles aren't a sensible purchase, so if you try to economise on something that isn't sensible from the outset, it'll only end in regret. Buy it. The rifle itself is perfectly sound, good quality and robust. The varying factors that are left that decide whether to buy or not are ones of personal preference. I myself have an FN12 Raptor and it's a joy to shoot.

  12. Nicely done mate! Looks awesome! I'm green with envy! lol!
  13. How so? If I was asked to attribute that quality to any calibre it would be the .177 because of it's lack of energy transfer? I suspect the argument for this statement, might be the flatter trajectory of the .177 and some people interpret this as being more accurate; but i know in reality, in the field this isn't so as people shooting .22 know the characteristics of the .22 and compensate accordingly, nullifying the theoretical advantage of this flatter trajectory.
  14. Nice bit of kit! Reminds me of my S400 in Walnut - should never of sold her! Look forward to reading the write ups of your S410 exploits! Tris
  15. I don't think they're really is alot in it. They're is an old saying: .22 for fur, .177 for feather. But, i was watching a John Darling DVD today and as an accomplished a hunter he is, he preferred .22 - make of that what you will. Best Tris
  16. I just want to say a thank you really to all who regularly and irregularly contribute to this forum. Alot of you guys who have permission, and more over, are seasoned huntsmen contribute with your daily posts a great deal. Not only are you passing on knowledge, skills and enjoyable reads, but you are also fanning the flames for the rest of us who don't yet have the opportunity to display and practice this art. Nice one Tris
  17. Yeah, i think there'll be alot of gimmick products hitting the market first in prelude to the actual real-deal, when/if that ever occurs. I would be reserved towards a scope that can calculate an aim point at the moment, as there are so many variables effecting the pellet/ bullet that unless a scope as the necessary sensors for all these factors; claiming to calculate an aim point seems implausible. A scope that has a built in laser range finder would be cool in theory, but in practice would it be too much of a ball ache to keep bringing your rifle to get an idea on range? I wouldn't
  18. Ah the power of the brew! lol! Nice shooting That R10 looks real nice too :tongue4:
