  1. walk the dog through the livestock on the lead and correct the dog each time it looks at them you want it so it takes no notice of them.as for retrieve try not to sicken the dog, make sure the recall is spot on before you start with trying to learn it to retrieve.the dog is to young to chase bunnies at the moment imo and if you are going to lamp with it i would not let it chase bunnies to ground in the daytime as this makes them want to hunt up on the lamp which can be a real problem i would start it on lamping first thats if you are going to lamp it.i would get the dogs basics sorted over the
  2. september, dog will be 12month by then and will be more mature, make sure recall and retrieve are sorted first make it easier when you enter the dog.take it by itself bad habbits are really easy to pick up and very hard to overcome
  3. i have a dog can jump 5ft gates easy but is always catching herself going over small wire fences it happens very often and her skin is like paper its just what happens when your dog is keen as f**k i would rather she cut herself trying than pulled up and let things away.the best dogs always seem to hurt themselves as they try hard and wont give up.my dog has a lot of whippet and thats my only fault her thin skin
  4. depends how it throws if you get a racey one it would be ok but you dont know how they will turn out as a pup,i would think collie/grey x bull/grey or saluki/grey x bull/grey should be better for allround work imo
  5. heres mine saluki/whippet/grey x 1/4bull/3/4grey
  6. you sure that was a wild boar and not a challenger tank that dog ran into did the dog live thats some list of punishment for a dog to be still holding something Go hog huntin half a dozen times and you will see just this. Its a rough deal, I know. i have a saluki bull grey and a saluki whip grey with 1/8bull as the bull suits me but from what ive seen with my own eyes the more bull you add the less stamina you have but with collie ive seen the more collie you add the more stamina you get so that tells you which as the most stamina.you just have to use your brain collie dogs work
  7. nah its better looking than me haha aye a cant wait either duke will learn them lol
  8. he is around 25.5 26 tts he aint grey much lately he will just fill out now.
  9. he already was a weapon last week haha he is starting to get a shape now.
  10. hasent done anything yet will start him on the lamp after the summer
  11. why not cross them together meant to be a good cross
  12. bite them off or cut with sharp sterilised scissors as soon as they reach 3 days old make sure you get behind the little ball bit, they will squeek once or twice then thats it no more trouble, ive only had one burst dewclaw in 2 full seasons with 2 dogs so i dont find there a problem really but would rather them be removed
  13. i wouldnt mind about a bit of bull as long as the dog does you proud thats the main thing
  14. i have one with 1/4bull pup and not tested yet but if he is shite i will let you know and one with 1/8 bull she is full of stamina never ever blows i think they suit me for what i do but if i was to want a good rabbit dog i would not have one with bull as i dont think they have the stamina this is just my view of 90% of them ive been out with although moore has a bull x and its the only one ive seen do well with big numbers but it is a very racey one
  15. out of interest how many rabbits anight does dog have to catch a night to be classed as haveing stamina bull dont have stamina it just gives more jaw power and more balls any bull ive been with the lads say they run all night and after 10 bunnies they are ready for home and ive seen a few
  16. i think people are more into killing things that bite back now as times have changed,no one going out to make money off what the catch, bull x suits the job of killing and doubling up on everything so one bends it the other catches but imo they have not got the stamina and abillity to go out and catch big bags any i have seen blow up to easy when ran hard on rabbit and hare and they dont seem to have the turn of lighter built dogs. i have a saluki grey x bull grey at the min and he turnes like a double decker bus but is fast but personally if i was to want a pure lamper to take big bags bull x
  17. i was told if you want a good lamp dog just take it lamping if you want a good daytime dog just do daytime.but if your wantin g it to do both i would put a full season of lamping under it belt before you show it daytime.my dogs will do both but i find the more daytimew i do the more they f**k about at night just my oppinion
  18. Because she would be a right b*****d not to! If a man meets a woman who happens to be a single mother he wouldnt be c**t enough to tell her to put the kid in care or he walks would he?! No im sorry mate, she knew you had dogs before she got serious with you and she still got serious with you, she knew what she was taking on. im standing my ground on this , she can go whistle are you a man or a mouse?lol
  19. i have the red and amber filters i think there a pain in the arse taking them on and off and personally dont think ive done any better than using no filter, only time i use them is if i go somewhere im not meant to be just so it dims the light as you can see the clear beam for miles
  20. Well said i will lamp whatever i see when its hunting season, what they dont know wont hurt them.
  21. thats a really sporting thing to do ive done it once mate, only killed the one bunnies are my thing, and it was to try and see what it tasted like, and i only said the way i got it as if you read people were saying any dog can catch them on the lamp because they dont know where there going, well this one was the oppisite it knew exactly where to go and my lurcher could not catch it.must be shite lol
  22. i meant from when i started freezing them.lol
  23. mine get raw rabbit at winter when im lamping, skinned gutted and frozen for around 2 weeks, i worm them 4 times a year. never had a problem with worms from when i started worming them. when i gave them fresh they often had worms so must work.
