  1. get a long piece of rope attached to collar so when it start running at them it gets flat out and when its about to reach the end hold it tight so it gets a good shock do this everytime it will soon get sick!maybe cruel in some peoples eyes but its better than it getting stuck in to a farmers stock and then him shooting it.
  2. it does know where to go because i chased 1 over a month on the lamp and it made my dog look silly everytime,so i went up and had a look in the day and found a big hole in the fence so i blocked it up went back with the lamp that night and caught it no bother so there you go they know exactly where there going and if they manage to reach that bit before the dog they win everytime
  3. i dont know what hares you have been lamping,i would say your heads painted on!i wouldnt say a lurcher is a cert to catch all hare in the lamp and they know exactly where there runs are so if there faster and can get a few good turns in there away, atleast when there through dyke or over the brow of a field there out of the light and away this is not the case in the day and where we live you hardly catch any through the day because the fields are tiny and up and down,so you bring your old springer for a wee go
  4. here is my bitch 2 1/2 year old 24" 47lb she is 1/4saluki 1/8whippet 1/8bull 1/2greyhound decent allrounder small dog big heart.
  5. i have never had to do it yet but i will retire my 1st one and keep her as a pet for the rest of her days but the other two will probly get the bullet when there no longer able to do what i keep them for.i think if you have 3 dogs around the same age and they all retire around the same time you cant keep them all if you are going to get a new pup to work.ideally if you get a good allrounder which does everything you want you should breed out of it just before retirement and have the pup ready for when you do and let the old one rest till the end and so on
  6. anyone had or wear these boots now?what you think of them are they any good?

  12. if you use the wax does it stop the breathable liner working, what does everyone use?
  13. If your season has ended mate, then let them rest a bit, good walks every day is enough out of season, then prepare them a month before the start of the next season. I like them to rest up a bit out of season and if that means putting a little weight on then so be it, no athlete can be at its peak 12 months of the year without it taking its toll. I got stopped by a copper a couple of years ago doing same thing on a hardly used fell road, dogs seems good type, all the best. WR. it doesnt really tire the dogs out its just really a change for them and mainly to harden the brindle ones
  14. i have not seen a dog stop chasing my dog runs until it drops is this jacking or not because it gives every last bit its got

  17. so blokes who dont go out for the fox will never get a jacker? personally i dont care if my dog does fox or not its just a bonus if they do.but id rather the dog be better on the game you can eat
  18. i would imagine every dog will cock/jack at some point surely they all have a limit just some more than others so at what point does it become a cocker/jacker is it if you run lots of rabbit or hare (p b)and they get tired and cant run anymore?what happens if they do it when they have caught a decent bag is this excepted?
  19. hancock only does collie x i would of thought he meant border or beardie and what %
