  1. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/forum/173-barf-diet/ have read through some of these topics mate
  2. Aye mine fared well on that skinners.. I am gong to try Gain this season.. Going to give my older bitch Gain 20 and the younger dogs gain 28 mixed with Chicken, beef ,tripe & the odd bone or carcase to chew on.. I give them the bones on a rest day.. normally a rib cage or a neck.. I give them oily fish that day as well.. Cheers for your replies.. Food for thought
  3. Aye they do get dusty when it starts breaking down.. I change it regular and give the dogs a daily brush.. Straw gets dragged out but I just keep sweeping it up If Had separate washing machine I would use it.. I send the coats to local tack shop where they wash horse coats.. They must have some big machine.. Folk rate this waxed paper.. I aint ever used it before but going to get some today, see how it goes
  4. Thanks for your reply mate What biscuit do you use ??
  5. Had my dogs on straw for years.. When its - I put coats on them as well.. I am going to give waxed shredded paper a shot this year Blankets stink and I would not wash them.. Gets your machine f****d full of dog hair.. Personal preference but I have tried blankets, they aint great n my opinion
  6. Some tidy looking hounds.. Was "Wolf" a genuine first cross ?? My pal had a 3/4 1/4 Saluki grey hound bred out of him.. Dog was no good on the fens but up here caught plenty, very fast with a good strike no wind for long runs in daytime - on the lamp murdered loads of gear..
  7. Bloody Disgusting Hope the man gets his dog back safe & sound... Would these Arabs buy a stolen dog ?? I know very little about Arabs & stuff like that, but surely these thieves would not have that type of connection ?? Coppers seem like a shower of shit round his bit... Few year back up here a few dogs got nabbed & it was in the press - local news. Our Police force seemed more proactive about tracing the scumbags. Need to get Pictures plastered all over Facebook - Get a bit in CMW - EDRD For Macs dog and Sonny Fella must be sick to the stomach.
  8. Ohh looks right nasty that fella.. One of mine got the end of a dry thistle in the eye.. Dog had sticky eye I could not see anything.. Vet put some drops in with dye and told me it had something in there. Knocked her out and pulled it out it was not very big and caused no lasting damage.. Be gutted if me dog lost a eye.. Hope yer dogs ok mate !
  9. Out of interest why do Lads choose a first cross instead, of a line bred pup out of matching winning dogs ?? Serious question I don't keep coursing stock..
  10. Bog roll My mrs will go mad.. Telt me I was using to much the other day.. She forgets I bloody pay for it Moley & Socks what the most you have set out and what's your strike rate been ?? Can you get misses where they spring it but don't catch.. Or just blanks cause they aint using that run ?? is it possible to use 4 in this way or is it a no go ?? I have more of them but only two 6s.. You pesties any pictures of a set one in a burrow ?? jandcguns sorry for hi jacking your thread Really helpful cheers lads
  11. Cheers moley.. I would hate to injure a dog... Do you just use a little trowel ?? On a set - warren would you put out as many as you have or just the clean holes?? Would you get kills in unused ones if the others have sprung and blocked the burrow ?? I will give this a bash when its cooler.. Lot of flys about at the moment and young rabbits... I fancy doing some that back onto moterway embankment.. Cant shoot it or ferret for obvious reasons.. Have snared in the past but loads of magpies and crows just peck them to bits.. Maybe should get out my bed earlier lol
  12. Sandy What your preferred staple diet for a dog during the season, that's being worked 4/5 shifts a week. Do you give any supplements or tonics ??
  13. How far do you put it up the burrow ?? I have just set them in tunnels for rats - soats.. Would not mind having a crack at the rabbits.. Bit wary incase a dog sticks its muzzle down a hole for a sniff.. Do you have to widen hole as if its narrow the trap may not fire/spring ? Any pictures would be help full.. Cheers
  14. Sounds like thy are infected mate.. Like the others have said I personally would get to vets get him right and look at how you can prevent this in the future. The diet cant be right or there could be some sort or foreign body under gum line.. Either way get some advice and sure it will be fine.. Best of luck
  15. I have heard tales of poachers being subjected to extreme violence in the past.. Lads wacked on the head with clubs and dragged round fields tied to tow bars... Did these type of incidents really happen or its a more folk legend to keep would be poachers away ?? Guess in some incidents its a two way street. Some farmer got run over by a Scooby last season, read that in the press.. I don't get why people resort to such extremes over rabbits and hares.. Could understand if people where in bird pens, emptying ponds or taking deer off stalking land.. Folk don
  16. I like Beta Puppy and add raw chicken, beef , lamb & tripe..
  17. He knew all about poaching  Remember the book and seeing the film at the flics as a nipper
  18. Bloody hell that's sounds amazing !! Bet them kennels are better than some of the accommodation people live in
  19. Maybe more than just a few Is there outside runs or is it all indoors ?? Anymore pictures its well smart - inspirational - but bone chilling when you think about the bank balance.. Last a lifetime them tho
  20. Tidy dogs and the kennels are something else... Be some wedge gone into them... I am dreaded moving house recon kennels now, easy run into the thousands..

    Lure

No bank holiday special offer I cant believe nobody's not taken your arm off for it mate
  22. Looks a grand spot & not hot.. Its blistering here today... That's a good start to the season
  23. One to remember people know the stakes before they set out... No good complaining when it gets hot... I don't like it when lads get physical with land owners , however some have been know to go a step to far with poachers. If I was to accidently stray over any boundary's.. I hold my hands up apologise and make a hasty retreat.. Twice this has accidently happened and I ended up with permission. It pays to keep a cool head and silver tongue Any young lads reading my advice is do things right... If you do happen to get lost, most folk would be more receptive to
