There has recently been a great outbreak of alot of horses digesting Ragwort and causing them death in the short term, and its not just horses ive heard of a few goats have had the same problem to that have had Ragwort poisoning. It is a highly toxic plant that should be controlled by your local council. Not many people know who to complain to about the Ragwort so heres the link - http://www.defra.gov...eed2-complaint/

The last couple of days ive come across 'Greyhound Scanning' its done by Tom Peppercorn and quite interested in this form of scanning as it actually shows the damaged muscles so that it can advise the appriopriate form of treatment that will help with the recovery rather than just predicting that it could be this or it could be that. I honestly think alot more places should actually promote this and offer this service as it could save alot of time recovery wise if the dog is handed the correct treatment in the first place. I believe the treatment of a scan is £10.00 so you dont mind paying

If you get the odd rash or skin condition on the dogs i find its always handy to have a tub of sudocrem at hand as it does clear alot of things up on the dogs

For somethings like this you can use Diprobase its about £2.00 odd for a tube of it at a chemist, i have used it on my dogs and ferrets, rub some into the area, it takes the itchiness away and hydrates the skin so it promotes hair growth

Agree with Topper, my 2 lurchers last summer caught Kennel Cough as i think once 1 dog has it they all seem to catch it if theyre around one another, any tickly or chesty cough medicine will do if they dont take to it you can either put some in a syringe and push it into the side of the mouth or mix it with a little bit of milk, it does work and possibly a cheaper form of treatment

My dog is always in the wars with his dew claws as one of them tends to grow out and up. Sometimes doing damage to the dew claw can put your dog out for a while. Tbh there isnt really anything you can do, a mate of mines dog snapped his dew claw and they left it and eventually it dropped off and didnt grow back but i cant say for definate it will happen to yours as its never happened amongst my dogs but if your in any doubt theres no harm in ringing the vets and just asking their advice, you can have them removed i know you got to think whats best for the dog

need help training.
MissRhianL replied to top-rabbiting-man's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Hey, when you pick up a new dog u dont really know how the other person has brought the dog up and if they have had the dog from a pup or for a long time the dog is gonna be used to his old owners ways. At the moment rather than getting it to run the lamp, start taking it out for walks and drumming it into their minds certain words mean different commands. The trick is not to have numerous calls for the same thing and also take a ball or something to throw for her so when it does grab hold of it get it used to the name and recall. Once things start picking up then start taking her our as some -
Would like to find out what hound packs are based in south wales

From what i can grasp hold of on this topic of Racing Greyhounds, i find alot of people buy in dogs already running at track, ok i can understand this matter of time etc, but you dont hear of many people buying a greyhound pup with intentions of training it for the track and going through the whole process on what work has to be put into them to race at track, what type of training would it include and how often and basically the whole process from the puppy stages up to the first day trial run and the following races there after. I think if there was more publicity on these stages or the

If you had the choice would you rather your horse seek treatment for a muscular injury from a equine massage therapist or equine physiotherapy? as some people say there isnt much different in the type of work they both do but then others would totally disagree, obviously by experience and seeing the horses benefits afterwards
-
I think its hit and miss some dogs take to it and other its totally disagrees, think ill stick to the Celt or Dr Johns as the dogs are in pretty good shape with that food and dont have no problems at all

Just a quick question - Anyone tried the Arkwright Complete dogs food? I had a it a while back when my pup was alot younger and back then his sh*t was like a cow pat, so i thought it could be quite rich for him and thats why his body is not taking to it so have tried him on many other foods, Gain 28, Celt, Dr Johns, Dried Meat etc but picked another sac up of Arkwright not thinking about the last time we had it and his sh*ts are back to cow pats theyre like water? Im not running the dog food brand down as the other 3 dogs are great with it its just the lurcher pup thats having prob

MissRhianL replied to jimster68's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
Hey thats a nice little set up you got there I took over my partners auntys garden this year, so im having to learn as i go along really which has been quite interesting, I planted some of the seeds i bought from lidls and other plant seeds that were hidden away in a shed at the garden. Not all things came but i know better for next time round now. I did put runner beans in from seed but they didnt show this summer, what have grown really well so far are - Rhubarb, Garlic, Potatoes, Lettuce, Chives, and also Peas in a pod. I dont have a massive patch to grow on but im trying to make the most -

For Sale 12 Month old Bull/Patterdale (dog)
MissRhianL replied to wingnut987's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
Have you got an option where food can be down all day ?? Or it could actually be he barks whether hes hungry or not for the attention knowing if he does bark someone will go and see him ?? My mate has a patterdale pup whos coming up 7 months hes very yappy in the kennel but only when he hears them out in the kitchen cause he was pampered when he was a pup in the house, handled all the time with the kids and time came to go down the kennel and then things got noisy, its got to the point with him you can do what you want to him but it wont stop him yapping cause he just wants to see you. -
Hi its quite hard to judge as to me it sounds like a very rare breed mixed into the average lurcher type, so really its hard to say if it is average, certain breeds that are bred into a lurcher can bring the height down by quite a bit, there is a post on here it is under this section called 'How tall is your pup' you could put it on there but i genuinely dont think u will get much response whether its average or not as its not a breed you come across often for people to know. A good thing is to find out how tall the others in the same litter are turning out.
