  1. when i was a kid all the milk floats were electric....just thinking about it i can still remember the sound of them. and all the empty bottles.....clang clang clang....down the road....lol
  2. Victoria is a nice city, my wife's grandmother and grandfather owned a big dairy farm on a portion of land where the airport is now, all her cousins are still living in Victoria....a bit to built up for me......lol.......we lived mid island for three years......on your road trip see if you can get to a place call Cathedral Grove....it's full of huge Douglas firs western red cedars etc....there over 800-900 years old.....30 ft circumference and some of the bigger ones are over 250 ft tall......the smell of the red cedars sets the mood of the natural beauty of the forest......my old boss saw his
  3. have a good holiday mate....whereabouts are you heading for.....
  4. that's the thing bud, you can achieve a lot here, your mate is right, it is a much better way of life, when we lived in Calgary you worked mon-fri....come friday after work people would load up there trucks, hitched up there trailer with a boat/atv hitched to the trailer and off to the crown land for the weekend......gazjon 5 said it right in his post....having things here you couldn't have back in the uk is spot on.....plus the freedom to do things.....
  5. ha ha good one mack.....the thing is that homesickness comes in waves at first but basically you get yourself settled in you then knuckle down at work and before you know it its like being back home as your doing the same work but in another country....then you start to explore the areas and hay presto the homesickness has long gone....but if i was having a lot of homesickness thoughts now i would be going back home......now I'm living here in Canada homesickness is a thing of the past.....
  6. the uk will always be home to me too bud, i don't think you really ever forget your roots and they do sit in the back of your mind where ever you are....i did have a bit of homesickness at first which is natural but it slowly wore off.....I'm really enjoying where i am at right now, i love Canada as a country and we have made a better life for ourselves now, i couldn't have what we've got here in Canada in the uk for the money we payed for what we have now..... going back to your auntie mate.....i suppose its not for everyone she obviously had a strong tie to the uk....why did she stay fo
  7. yes, I've heard this story so many times in my life bud, but these situations can't be pushed, it's a big step for some people to even think about let alone do....the only advice i could say is, for your daughters family to come over here for a holiday in a part that appeals to them and see what it could be like living here.....the world is so small now, a plane ride back, facetime/wattsapp for phone calls etc etc....i would say it's a lovely/safer life for young kids to grow up in, there's a lot of community spirit still here and everyone helps everyone which has been lost in the uk......let
  8. really mack thats interesting to know....that would be handy if i did have kids so it wouldn't apply for me but someone could benefit from it.....
  9. the coffee pots on....and how do you have your eggs for breakfast......sunny side up or over easy....lol lol
  10. that's obviously a job your mate does....but what title would you put to what he does....sorry bud, but I've never heard of that sought of job....they are crying out for carpenters/labourers, health workers, restaurant trades etc.etc....i think the country is planning on so many millions of emigrates over the next 5 years i think it is.....it's a really good time for anyone wanting to emigrate to other countries and it would probably get processed quicker as well i would have thought....
  11. i just had a check for my own knowledge bud.... and it turns out, there is no age limit to immigrate to Canada.....if your younger and score higher on points you stand a lot more chance of getting here quicker than older....if your older and have a wealthy bank balance to support yourself you wouldn't be turned away.... There is no specific age limit requirement for any Canadian immigration program. That said, in most categories of economic immigration, applicants 25-35 receive the maximum points. That doesn't mean older applicants cannot be selected.
  12. that is a shame bud, i don't know if there is a cut off age here or not....i think Australia has unless you can support yourselves....moving here has been one of the best things i have done i my life, i now live in the middle of nowhere, countryside around me for miles mate, if i have to go to the town it's a 2 hour round trip, it's like a step back in time here i don't have to lock my front door at night or even my truck/workshop, you just buy a fishing license and go fishing practically where ever you like...rivers/lakes....you can go camping/caravan on crown land for free....there's miles a

  16. years ago i lived in a motorhome and we stayed on a caravan site for a while, one day an Irish p***y family came in with there caravan and parked up, well, from that moment it was bedlam.....the parents just let the children out an they just run every where all over the site shouting and hollering and in/out of peoples pitches and there parents didn't even try to control them, this went on for hours.....the ruling of the caravan site was after ten o clock at night be quiet but still enjoy yourself as other people/children could be in bed....well, not for that family they just did what they wan

i think a lot of it is for investment purposes....i think they fetch good money at the moment....but when he dies his art will rocket in price....if you could look at it from a business point, there could be a good profit to be made....

  20. never watch it....it's a load of crap to start off with, god knows why the yanks call it football....
  21. probably best not to give any charity your money with how much these ceo's are getting, the sick kids foundation ceo got 2.7 million annual salary last year, unicef ceo 800,000 etc. etc.... all these charities are government funded and are tax exempt leaving the tax payer to pick up the short fall in the billions....there's an liberal MP putting a bill through parliament to cap all charity ceo annual earnings at 250,000, in my opinion that's still to much for a charity ceo to earn, all the top charities on the list here that i saw, the ceo's were getting no less than 300,000 a year....it doesn
