I was out on a shoot on saturday and the pheasants I brought home were gutted and skinned by 7oclock saturday night and I ate one of them on sunday. I like my meat fresh!! However about the flies, just last night I was thinking to myself "havent the fecking flies died yet" after I was cleaning out the ferrets and the feckers had hidden part of a carcass from me under their ramp. Must have been there only a few days but there was feckin loads of maggots all over when I disturbed it.

Apologies if this has been posted before but: http://nwhsa.redblackandgreen.net/index.htm Wish we had some "pro hunting" PR because there are a shitload of anti hunting PR engines. These aresholes boast about getting keepers etc charged and about wrecking peoples hunts, and gives advice on how to wreck snares and sabotage traps, even though they know full well its criminal damage. Sorry guys I know its all been talked about plenty before but this has really pissed me off. Gibby

Well done lads. Ive got a hob that looks just like that one

A crap days ferreting is better than a good day at work mate Well done for trying though eh

Me and my mate swany were out for a few hours this morning on a bit of land that we've already hit hard the past few weeks with the ferrets and lamping with dogs, but is still holding rabbits. Both of us took a couple of jills each to swap about which ones were getting the fun Most of the warrens were on fencelines with hedges but were for the most part pretty easy to net. Pity it wasnt easy digging I think we dug 4 times, 3 times to rabbits and once to a locator collar swanys tiny wee jill slipped during a battle with a rabbit! We could hear it going on for a while then she bolted it.

Aye it was geed craic like swany mate! Pic turned out no bad either considering it was pitch black with just a lamp on. Also the reason theres only 6 bunnies in the pic is cos the mixi'd one was so f****d we just dragged it into the middle of the field and left it for the crows.

Orange, and good on you for choosing mk3. Its a marvellous bit of kit Im really glad I upgraded from mk1.
-
I dont know where you stand legally mate but I know what I'd do..

Granted he might not have had to dig to get the ferret back but the rabbit would have been wasted. But I see what your saying about waiting a bit longer all the same, its just not my style to leave dead rabbits everywhere. To each his own. I ferret on golf courses all the time and if you have to dig you have to dig. If your carefull and take sod of turf off then you can do a pretty good job of patching it up without it lookin that obvious. Plus I doubt the warren was on the fareway or the green (Im about to get proven wrong here I can tell ). Anyway ferretville well done for get

Russboy you dont know me but we have a mutual acqaintance, and I have to say Ive heard a lot of good things about this pup mate. I would have her off you in a second if circumstances allowed it but unfortunately I cant have a dog at the moment. Good luck with the sale, I cant believe the dog hasnt been sold yet. Hope you find a good home for her tho.

The ferrets are lookin good mate although I have seen them all before and seen them working Ive PM'd you pal.

I have 5. 3 jills and 2 hobs.
-
I put my 2 unrelated hobs together a couple of months ago and they squabbled a bit for the first while but I just left them to it and now they are best mates. They do occasionaly have play fights etc but they are both as bad as each other for provoking them, and in any case jills fight all the time too its just playing/pecking order. In the breeding season it might get a little more hostile though, Ill have to play it by ear, but for now they are more than happy to cuddle up with each other to sleep!

I use anything from 1-3 ferrets at a time, because I have 3 collars. It depends on the overall size of the warren, number of holes, etc etc. If I had more collars I would probably use more ferrets at once if it was necessary. And I never enter a ferret without a collar. Yes your ferrets will come back eventually if they kill underground but its not my idea of ferreting to leave dead or slowly dying rabbits everywhere underground. Yes Ive done it before when my ferret has come back before Ive broke through, or when Its extremely hard digging (ie f****n great tree roots) but Id rather di

Goodfellas, needs no explanation! Either that or 300, which is based on Greek Mythology so I think that should count

How can it be 6 mph? Your telling me it takes half an hour to do the first 5 miles then the other half hour to do the last mile per hour? 10mph. Definately. Heres the proof: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&s...earch&meta=

I know a guy who got fined even though the keeper never wanted to pursue it (you know who you are mate ). And that was years ago. In Scotland. Nowadays I reckon some constabularies will want to make an example of you and hit you with a fine etc. So... Dont get caught

I can see it being a useful way to ferret those places that are "hard to do" during the day I seem to remember reading (probably on here) that its an old poachers trick. I think if your going to do it do it on a full moon or something so you can see what your doing. Or if your allowed to be there then use a lamp! One of the little snap lights attached to a collar somehow will do no harm if you can attach it without it being prone to snagging on things. I wont be trying it myself theres too much risk of losing rabbits or more importantly ferrets. But its been done plenty before if

Looks like you had a good time. Thats an unusual lookin rabbit too

Well done on getting out theres always one that gets away aint there Was out yesterday for a while ferreting with my dad and his lurcher. Got 3 really healthy ones and 2 starting to get signs of mixi, but they still bolted and ran well so they were just starting to get it. But there were a couple of dead rabbits lying around and we had some mixi ones here a few weeks ago. On the way back up the lane we stopped the car and I got out and necked one that was wandering around blind. Poor thing, pussy mangled up jaw, no meat on it etc. I reckon all my permission in the vicinity (i
