yes mate it. it can happen when you start a dog too young and running alot of rabbits and it aint catching often then it begins to yap out of frustration and its not something you want. have you got anybody else with a lamping dog that you could take your pup out with so it can see what its all about and learn? if so it would be a big help to the pup. and as tempting as it can be to start your pup earley i would hold it back until you think its ready. seen many a dog spoilt by entering to earley but never seen a dog spoilt by entering in abit later. well thats just my opinion. some g -

I`ve got Greys GRXI and Platinum X they are awesome rods but the rod I use mostly is a Sharpes Of Aberdeen Gordon 2 9`6 7 w. I`m not a lure puller either but I fish competitions so you have to give the fish what they want and at the depth they want, give me dry flies any day

yapping is something that is not needed or wanted in a working Lurcher whatever the cause it`s a fault ...simple as !

quite simple answer is, if you don`t get your dog used to dykes and other obsticles when young it will proberbly injure itself badly when older and faster, and be crap at combating the same. have seen many dogs killed and injured on dykes when they come across them at 16 month old and at full speed for the first time, important to get them working around dykes What about just getting a young dog out and getting him used to dykes, fences etc anyway? Does it have to be hunting? Not after an argument, just discussion.......... :thumbs:

just curious mate why you would start a pup so young ? (honest question) what are the benefits ?

no pal, can`t blame it on frustration else all dogs would yip, i always start em young and never have a prob. mainly inherited with odd exception talking shit pal, even the very best breeding will open up if entered too early. absolutely right mate the main cause of yapping is starting a pup too young and asking to much from it which causes frustration, when it becomes a yapper there is no cure in my opinion and it`s not all about getting caught it`s also about the alarm bell to whatever quarry is in the field !!
