Definitive & Objective Nv Advice For A Centrefire
Gloop replied to fireblade_rrw's topic in Night Vision & Thermal
0 is crap. 10 is excellent. NS50 - NS200 - 7. A bit fiddly but works well out to 300 yards Photon- Arrow (399) - Arrow (899) -both should be good units when released but not available as yet. Far as I know. Archer - 10. I use mine all the time. I'm a big fan. You need to understand that with addons such as the archer and nitesite and others that there are more factors such as scope and IR which make a big difference. I can just identify a fox out at 300 yards using the firefly laser on the archer if the fox is moving from, say right to left and the batteries are fully charged. -
Tikka T3 Camo Or Browning A Or X Bolt
Gloop replied to fireblade_rrw's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well check you can live with the trigger. I had a problem because for me 1.9lbs is spot on so the xbolt at 3.5 was too heavy and I would wobble a lot. Personally I couldn't live with that, that is my only complaint. Other than that it was a lovely rifle. If you are ok with the trigger then you are good to go but check that he is including the things you clamp the scope mounts on the rifle too because if they are extra then that could be another 50 quid. -
Really? Such as? I can see out to 300 yards (measured) on the back of the scope with mine and it is the cheapest one. I rarely use the firefly laser, I mainly use a nightmaster ir as it is brighter and cleaner than any laser They are big and heavy but you can put them on a big rifle. If they break you can get them fixed. When I was looking to buy I couldn't find anything to match it. I wouldn't change it and it has now bowled over a couple of hundred rabbits. Well it could be smaller and lighter and cheaper of course. Lol I have a bracket on each rifle so I can choose what to go o

Tikka T3 Camo Or Browning A Or X Bolt
Gloop replied to fireblade_rrw's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
They are all good rifles. Browning will have a heavy trigger. I had an xbolt and couldn't get it below 3.5ibs. If you are ok with that then it will be fine. The x bolt has a nice button on the side so you can take the bolt out without taking the safety off. The tikka has a nice adjustable trigger. The A bolt is the old design. Really they should all be accurate. Just spend the time finding the one bullet that makes them as accurate as an accurate thing could be. Look at the twist rates as that will determine the bullet weight. -
It it works it is good enough. Fit is more important. So find one at the right price and try it.

Not so many for me. Had 7 last night. Wasn't worth hanging round for anything else to show. That would be about average.

Tikka T3 Super Varmint .223 Twist Rate ?
Gloop replied to Tornado1979's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think it is 1 in 12. Someone may correct me. To be honest I use a 54 grain vmax and it groups really nicely. -
,first try the silencer make sure it is tight. Then try the rings, make sure they are fixed correctly and tight. They do not need to be tightened by a gorilla. The gap either side of the rings should be the same. Make sure they are connected to the rifle correctly as well. If that isn't the problem get a lend of another scope and try that. It does sound more like the scope to me.

Distances is a pain with nv. But knowing you permissions is a big help. Distances from one side to the other helps. I have got rabbits down to a fine art. At 100 yards I can't miss. Mind you at 40 yards I missed 3 times. Mr foxy is playing hide and seek with me at the moment. What scope are you using? And being an Archer they can be fiddly to set up but once done they are cracking. I like mine.

At My Wits End With Choosing A Scope!
Gloop replied to Corky1991's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Scopes, ah, the joy of what where how. I use a few different ones but I use a Meopta on my hunting rifle. I was out the other week after fallow. They didn't show. But we were sat as it got darker and darker. I lost my crosshairs before I lost the light. So I am now going to change to an illuminated Meopta 3-12x56. They are very good for the price. A friend of mine who sells them has sold them to a bloke who thought it was better than his S&B. but I do not know which model S&B he had. Welcome to confused.com -
What's The Best Rimfire For Rabbits And F0Xs
Gloop replied to d.nelson's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
223,222,22-250 all flat firing and each has its fans. Scope depends on what you can afford, how your going to use it. You don't need a zeiss or swaro if you are lamping. If you use NV you are ofter better off with a cheap scope. leupold 4-14? good glass and cheap about £400 secondhand. There is cheaper and there is more expensive. Now my preference is Meopta for hunting. Very good scope, very good in low light. and good price, -

What's The Best Rimfire For Rabbits And F0Xs
Gloop replied to d.nelson's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I use a HMR for both. Head shoot bunnies to keep the meat and engine room for Charlie. But you need to ensure that you are capable of shooting where you aim. -
Of course it also depends on what twist the barrel is as to which grain is going to be best.

Anybody out there using a Xenon hid Lamping set-up?
Gloop replied to jam1e's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I have used xenon for diving. Where the angle is very narrow for penetration. Very good light. Think the beam was about 6.5 degrees. However I believe that xenon is not good at being switched on and off and is better used constantly on which is not so good for hunters (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Personally I think led is the way to go as there have been some great advances and some cracking torches came out over the last year. -
For Sale scopes to suit your needs ..
Gloop replied to shootlodge's topic in Optics and Night Vision
Does the ags have side parallax and if so how old is it? -
I had one, it whited out and moved poi when zooming in and out. If you want an MTC scope there are better models.
-
Yup its threaded.

ref the gun, it has a floor plate rather than a magazine. have a look and see if you are ok with it. Also check the trigger pull. It is very hard to dryfire a see if the trigger pull is suitable for you. Ask how difficult it it to adjust the trigger pull. Or How much to adjust. One shop I know did it for free. Tikas are very easy to adjust. I am very finiky, I shoot 1.9 lb pull. but that is me. others are happy with 3.5 lb. It is personal preference. Scope. Buy once, buy right. What are you going to use it for? Are you looking to use it with Munties and do you need low light capabilities o

Nothing wrong with a secondhand 223. What is wrong, is a dodgy dealer or a dodgy private seller of which there are any number selling you crap at a high price. So the important thing is to find a good dealer or good private seller. The old buyer beware thing; Anyway. I have experience of the 223 in CZ and Tika T3 lite. Both are good. I have the Tika myself now as I prefered the syntethic stock. Plenty of other good makes but either of those will out shoot you and tend to be very well priced.

I am another archer fan. Can't think of anything bad to say cos I love em. Julian, can I have a free archer please? Anyway. Setting them up takes a bit of time and effort. I may in the past gone into detail here, but can't remember. definitely done it on nightvisionfourumuk. It is worth the effort. Take your time. Getting the crosshair focused properly is a pain. Leups are great for this with the long eye adjuser thingie. My main complaint was getting the scope in the right position to be able to use it during the day and night. I do have an adjustable butt extender (Talk to one less charli

Sounds like you haven't got the diopter focused in correct for the dark. Try doing in in complete darkness. You can get if focused in for evening as you said but with more light it is actually blurred. If you need any more info drop me a line.

Your score should improve but you don't need to buy new. I bought a cynergy with a movable cheekpiece. Worked for me.

As far as I am aware you should be ok with the pulsar on the 243. They don't kick that much. But if you want to be really sure try shooting something like a 53 grain vmax instead of the normal 95/100 grain. lot lighter and less kick. would also be very fast and flat. 53 grain might be a bit light so you might need to go up in size. depends on the twist. I think the x bold is 1 in 12?

I was so happy with mine that my mate bought one then his mate bought one then one of his customers bought one, then I thought bugger it, so i bought another..... But I still can't justify the expense of a longbow...........
