What is the effective range of the spud gun. Would it be suitable for use with Sika deer?
-
Well your 50 miles from me, if you cannot find anybody near, I have both .22 and .17. I will be more than happy to come up one day and you can try both and I will happily give you my opinion on life the universe and everything. And if you want to do a late one I will bring my NV up.... but be prepared to dribble and want one. You have been warned.

I'm going to give highclere a go first as the price doesn't seem to be bad but I don't expect to get anything much there.

Only up the road for me so I'm certainly intending to look for bargains.

Gloop replied to cookey's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I haven't got one myself but had been speaking to people who do 2 weeks ago. Trying to remember what they said. I think you may be better with lighter bullets. I spoke to one guy who said his was bullet on bullet with 55 grain anything larger and it just doesn't suit the barrel twist. You may be better trying lighter bullets but I am surprised that you struggle with 55 grainers. Hope I remembered that correct. If not someone will come and correct me. Reason I have been looking into this is because I am looking for a 223. You have check the obvious? cleaning the barrel, mod is on tight, sco -
And you live where?

Thank you so much for the offer. It is very much appreciated. Don't worry you will have lots of knowledgeable people wanting to come and play with you as well as lots of unknowledable people. Good luck and enjoy. If your only getting into it my knowledge would be to say. Make sure you have a signed permission letter for you and any assistants you would bring with you to help. Covers legalities. and Make sure that the shot is safe, backstops ricocheys etc. The bunny will be there the next night so if it isn't safe don't risk it. But then I may be teaching you to suck eggs.

Can I have one in Left hand please
-
A million miles away in Berkshire. Tis a bugger getting permissions down here. I have 2 small permissions. One is 5 acres 18 miles one way and the other about 2 acres and is 30 miles the opposite direction. Get there shoot one bunny and wait an hour for them to possibly come back. But at least I do have some, which is more than some I know. So can't complain. I also have some friends with lots about 40 miles away so I can go out and play with them a lot. Couldn't find anywhere closer could I !!!

YOUARE OF COURSE MY BESTEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD AND IF YOU NEED ANY HELP............................... LOL

I have a t bolt and use an ags 3-12x40. works wonders for me. I would like a bit more mag but no more than x16. The optics in my AGS are better than many cheap scopes. I did test them. And I use it lamping as well no problems.

Got any pictures? What is the twist rate? What moderator has it? What mounts has it? How old is it? How much has it been shot? Is there any other questions I should ask?
-
X bolt I am told is more accurate than the Abolt as it is bedded in better. But the trigger is heavy and a spare mag is £50. S Saying that my xbolt does not seem to be bullet fussy and I am happy with it. Just got used to the trigger I spose

Gloop replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Red Kite tend to come in and snatch the food and fly off. They will to the best of mu knowledge not land. Buzzards on the other hand........ check here http://www.gigrin.co.uk/ . -
What, you mean it "fits" properly? :wallbash: To answer this. Consider if you were 7 foot tall and you needed to buy a car. You wouldn't buy a fiesta. Ok that is a very simplistic view but the theory is the same. When you pick up a shotgun and put it in your shoulder you want the stock to be in the correct position, your eye to follow the line of the rib, the stock to be the correct length. Changing your jacket can completely change your score. Always get fitted for shooting wearing the jacket you are most likely to wear because moving from a thick jacket to , say a shirt changes the

Having your gun fitted is important, but at this stage if you are new ish to shotguns go to a gun shop they should, hopefully be able to get you an off the shelf that is good. The problem here is that the person behind the counter needs to be interested in selling you the right gun and not just saying "use this". Then after you have shoved a thousand or so cartridges down the barrel (doesn't take long on a 100 a day clayshoot and you know what you are doing. I would go and get it fitted. I had this for a longtime. My shooting wasn't very good but I didn't know why I was missing. Once you h

Um, well actually. I have already filled the slots. They have been sitting in the shop for the last 4 months or so. As they came up at the right price I grabbed them and he put them aside for me. Handy having a mate who runs a shop. Old Anschultz 520. .22 lr. Same as I had almost 25 years ago and in just as good condition as the day it came out of the shop. Cheap as chips it was. putting cloverleafs at 50 yards. Bargain HMR Tbolt. crap trigger, fantastically light gun, nicely accurate mind. But gonna have to change the spring cos it is a really crap trigger. Think we got the pull down to

I did have one of these and definitely didn't use it when out after rabbits inside my long jacket. Even though they could be concealed very well with a long jack which had a hole in the pocket so it could be held by the hand. No sir ee. I never did me. But they was definitely known as a poachers gun. Small light quiet--ish. You should hear the single shot silenced one. Or rather not hear it.

I once shot a Red Stag at 300 meters with an air rifle whilst holding the rifle over my shoulder blind folder and whistling dixie. He went straight down he did. You have to realise that it is a one in a million shot. Therefore you have to ensure that the shot you take is "One in a million" Oh dear, I'm starting to believe my self.............. Actually I was looking at you tube and there are some people on there who got into long range target shooting. They well hitting targets at 100 yards with a 12ft pound air rifle. Bloody good shooting.
-
Well I'm sold!! specially as my dealer mate will let me try it before I buy to see how it groups and for well under £200 notes as well. 250 yards? Easy!! Hold the gun at 45 degrees.........................................

I have a 10/22 Synthetic .22lr semi-auto. Best rimfire by far that I have ever owned. I have been looking at the 10/22 and a lot of people say they are unreliable as in not cycling properly, heavy triggers etc etc. What bullets do you use. I would be looking to use sub sonics to keep the noise level down even though by nature the semi will be slightly noiser than a bolt action. Have you had any mods done?
-
So I have a Marlin .22 lr in bolt action but because I am left handed I want to move over to a Semi. Got an offer of a Ruger 10/22 I think it is. Allows me to get the second shot off quickly if I need it. I have been told that the semi autos are less accurate than the bolt actions. I will be shooting out to 75 yards. Anything beyond that I use the hmr. I did have an annie 22 about "ahem" 20 years ago, "cough" and from what I can remember it was very accurate. But I was younger and perhaps have rosy tinted glasses. So any ideas, comments etc?
-
Ok so good points. The Tbolt synthetic hmr is lighter than the CZ. By lots. It is faster to use than the CZ cos of the pull push reload It looks different and not e verybody has one I think they are now cheaper than the CZ. You can use Baldies very cheap and excellent NV kit with them. Please don't buy one as I am in an exclusive club...................... Bad points, Dunno, haven't found any yet. But I'm sure there are some.
