Some people get paid to not cut their bog mate but peat (turf) is part of the furniture here and almost everyone uses it. Its not very eco friendly but you have to cut so little of the bog to make a years worth of turf that it don’t really notice......as I say, I own 2 bogs and I will never ever run out.

Loved that little film mate, brilliant stuff. When you see farmers just turning out plain old stock, basically just farming for subsidy then you see men like that who have a top of the range product and beleive in that product......they are farming to produce the best quality product they can and charge the right money rather than waiting for a handout from the EU. They are an example every farmer should be working towards.

The peat you burn is different to the peat they bag for gardens. As you say, the stuff you burn is also in blocks.......the stuff they bag for the garden is I beleive the over burden on the top of the stuff you burn.

Just use it the same mate, it’s fine in a wood burner, open fire or whatever. its cleaner than bloody coal that for sure but it burns similar in that it glows rather than burns with a flame. It smell nice too

I am only connected to electric and phone and obviously mains water everything else is mine and I can provide for myself. So, I can do without phone, water is not a problem to harvest as it falls out the sky by the f***ing tanker load !! If I had the money to invest in a decent solar or wind system for electric then I would pretty much be totally off grid. I own 2 peat bogs and a forest so fuel is no problem and I do that for myself now. I am just about to sit down and eat my own pork and I also have my own veal and lamb in the freezer now. Very valid point my friend, when I moved I went out of the way to apply MY thinking to people living in England to myself living in another mans country. My boy learns Gealic and rightly so, it’s in the carriculum and all the other kids have to do it and it’s the native language so it’s only right he learns it......some othe English incomers kick up a right fuss about it which is totally wrong imho.
