I agree mate, and maybe I’m mistaken, but I always assume that when someone brings the subject up that’s what they mean. And that’s how I read the original post to be honest. I liked the example you gave a few posts back and I thinks it’s spot on. My post was really directed at anyone who is talking about fighting, and I just meant that some people have a mentality to do what others wouldn’t but I don’t personally think that’s the same thing as toughness, hard, courage or whatever name we all give it.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I always find discussion like this can easily move into the realms of “cringeworthy” The world is awash with hard men (and women) for one reason or another.....not one thing defines them. If we are talking just about street fighting, then if a bloke is twice your size and mean as a scrapyard dog, take a lump of wood to the c**t until he will never be the same man again........no hardness required, just the mindset to do it. Dont expect a pat on the back or a medal or the adoration of your peers because you probably won’t be regarded as “hard”

Was on a shoot years ago and had my Lab and my Lurcher with me, shot a decent crossing pheasant. Both dogs watched it down and before the lab could move the lurcher was away, grabbed it and promptly ate it there and then on the spot !

Hi lads, is there a calibre that you would recommend as an all round rifle that will deal with fox, crow, rabbit? Need to be able to hit foxes at reasonable range so a normal .22 Lr probably won’t do. Any advice welcome

My pal lives out there and never sickens of telling their “army veterans” that they don’t have an army, they have a militia and unless they are in their 70s they ain’t a veteran of anything because they have not been in a war since the 60s !

There are 250,000 British citizens in the Republic, I seriously doubt they are going revoke 5% of the countries population insurance cover......but, in the unlikely event they do I will deal with it then. Meanwhile I’ll drive on my UK insurance from my UK address with full European cover. Too many hysterical fannies about mate, I can’t be arsed with it.......I try and just be a bit more practical about it.

No and I won’t be either, it’s total horse shit and anyone with half a brain knows it. Our nearly 100 year old common travel area arrangement will stay exactly the same post October 31st......so the things we have been doing for the last 100 years won’t change.

Just read that snippet on the BBC, your article didn’t come up but I’m assuming the Irish papers are doing the same as the BBC and forgetting to mention who actually wants to implement a border. Did it say if it was the EU or the UK that would demand a border ?

I personally think it has more to do with the excuse culture mate. See, I don’t believe anyone has to be a product of their circumstances but unfortunately that isn’t the modern way of thinking.......today your circumstances are always an excuse for your behaviour and that, imho, is poison to a society. Some kid decides to become a mugger?......not his fault, he never had the same opportunities blah blah blah. Total and utter bollocks but the problem is, a generation has grown up like it and they now have kids......you won’t smack that out of them, that’s a cultural problem.

I was expelled at 14 and never went back. Years later, I was back at my old school talking to the very same teachers that I had a lot of bother with. The school had bought a load of kit off me and we was in there delivering it. We we’re having the “kids of today” conversation and they said a very telling thing to me, they said “kids today are much, much better than your generation ever was” and do you know what, they were right. Would you agree that the PSNI has changed a lot since the mid 90s ? I see more a move towards the gender inclusive, mainland face of policing where as back in the 90s those coppers all seemed to be big old units that you didn’t f**k about with......they sort of looked capable of being armed if you get my drift. Some of these f***ing nerds in the mainland UK these days shouldn’t be trusted with a pencil.
