I thought Monterrey and Flamengos standard of defending was very good, I was impressed. They were quick to close, aggressive, organised and their tackles were spot on.....then calm in possession to play out. Liverpool absolutely have you in bits watching them knock the ball around in defence but they get away with it and fair play they have the confidence to play that way.

I think what caught them out is what the ref was willing to let go and what he didn’t give that he should......i think that threw them a bit

Great game, Liverpool were awful in the final 3rd and Oxlade Chamberlain had the touch of a f***ing rapist but they still won.....that’s a great team that is.
  4. I find it depressing as f**k, long summer days I feel like superman.....cold grey winter days is like living death to me.
  5. I read the other day that it actually can fall between the 21st and the 23rd technically. However, I look forward to it because I absolutely loathe the winter......and I mean loathe it. It affects me quiet badly.

I’d say all of those clubs are the big time from a players point of view mate......he is one of a very small number that ever gets to that level.

I have coached at every age group from U6 through to U12 mate. There’s some great resources out there that can really help you. If you are a Facebook user then there is a page called “The coaches Voice”, they also have a web site.....it’s really worth looking at and studying. Almost everything will translate across the age groups. Also, look at good coaches from other sports and see how they operate......one of my big inspirations was a mate of mine who has a big Ju Jitsu club of around 600 members, he is one of the best I have ever seen working with kids and adults alike.

The standard of under age refs in England is generally very good mate, they explain to the kids why they have stopped the game, give them pointers and at very young age will let them try again on things like foul throws etc......there no reason to be hollering and hooting when refs are like that. Over here, the standard of refereeing is appalling from top to bottom. Its just makes it bad all round.

Well, I got told it by a ref in one of the last games I coached in England mate and he explained it like this: If the parents or coaches or both are shouting and screaming and it’s too much you can just walk up to the ref and say “that’s enough, I’m talking my team away” Fantastic rule in my opinion mate.

Coaching youngsters teaches you a lot about yourself and it also forces you to use your canister. Accepting that your boy isn’t the same as you mentality wise in some areas makes you a better person imho.....it has me I think. I suppose it’s logic really, if you were the focused no quarter given headcase sporting wise and you know everyone used to look at you like “f***ing hell what’s with this bloke” then the odds of your kids being the same are minimal because only very few people are like that in reality. And you have to realise that there’s loads of different ways to be “goo

Listen lads, we are all guilty of putting “our rules” on our kids and it’s a really hard thing to remember that they have not had to live our lives and they are their own people. My lad is a big athletic unit and he was having a bit of bother in school with a couple of traveller lads so of course silly bollocks here says “hit em round the f***ing head with a chair and beat them with it until some body drags you off.....make sure they never want a bit of you again” My lad looked horrified and he has a gentle nature which I love so all that turn out is never going to be a bit of him...

I have my own rule mate, if someone is getting out of hand I’d just stop the game and take my kids away. Not has to do that as yet as normally a little whisper of “Here mate, shut up” is enough. The stop the game rule is actually a proper rule in under age football in England and I think it’s a great rule to be honest.

Yep, I know exactly what you are talking about mate.
  17. I hope they make Thornberry the next leader, they will get wiped out again ! Lol
  18. They are trying very hard to bring socialist European style politics to the United States from what I can see of it......America will decide if it wants that. Think of Obama, a man cast exactly in Blair’s image.

I think it’s easy for a first reaction to lads like that to be “oh for f**k sake” but actually the world needs colourful, fun, larger than life characters who just go off doing one mad idea after the other. Im much too introverted and not nearly well off enough to be like that but lads like that make me smile. Football especially, if it was down to the cold reality of bean counters then nobody would ever invest.....as you say, it’s more like a charitable donation than anything else but, it’s also the life blood of the game. Without it mate, kids would be falling into all sorts o

The previous man was off your patch and a football lad to go with it mate. I don’t know how much Dave and his pals are into football but they certainly have a nice business and a few quid round them. Football and what it means to people is where having a lad like you on board comes into its own I suppose mate. I have spoken to them a couple of times, very brief pass the time of day out of politeness type stuff, but they seemed nice people.

My lad is funny, he can follow instruction for Lego or puzzles all by himself and you won’t get a peep out of him for hours but if he has to start making multiple choices in a social situation the old brain frazzles! Lol

Parents can be the worst mate, for a start most of them have absolutely no concept about the fact that’s it’s NOT about winning football matches at junior level. Then of course you have the parent who never volunteers or gives up his time to coach or even help, more over you can see they have never played the game in any sort of serious way but come the match.....they are Johan Cruyff !! You give your kids a set of ideas, tell them to focus on certain things in the game, encourage them and there’s this prat screaming at his kid from the side lines to do this or do that.......poo
