There was a great turnout at Dessie Mackens annual Christmas show yesterday Saturday despite the cold weather.Dessie you certainly know how to bring a little happiness, and a lot of Christmas cheer into the lifes of us Canine folk in the dark dreary days leading up to Christmas.It was just what we all needed. Let me please say this and I really mean it from the bottom of my heart,you put on a great dog show yesterday at Halls Mills, reaching out the hand of friendship to every single person who came in the gate ,with your generosity, kindness and good humour and a never ending flow of Christma

  10. The Annual Christmas Dog Show will be held this year in Halls Mills Pub car park Laurencetown ( same venue as previous years )on Saturday the 17th December 11 at 1.00pm. All the usual Christmas prizes and festivities will be there on the day, and all the grown ups if you wish, can go for a few hot whiskeys and some food in the pub afterwards. There will be no racing at this show. Hope to see you all there for some Christmas Cheer.
  11. Nothing at the moment Storm 2010, ground to hard at this time of year for racing. There is coursing at Green Road, Dowdalls Hill Dundalk, on Boxing day, and the day after. A great curer after Xmas, and also a great day out.We have been there now 3 years running, and to be honest, I am looking forward to it this year again.Unfortunately last year the snow put a damper on proceedings, but it was still held a few days later.

Its people like yourself makes it all worthwhile.I try to do my best to advertise and promote all shows of the Canine type through out Ireland. Hope to meet up with you again in 2012 . By the way ROCKO1,Our champion whippet "Silver" had 10 whippet puppies on Tuesday. 6 Boys and 4 Girls. Mum and pups all doing well so far.They were not planned, our other whippet Riley jumped the fence and the rest is history.

No Pigsy, went to Comber open show last week with Reilly, our Whippet who got very highly commended,Could not take Silver as she is ready to pup any of these days now.But I can say with hand on heart, there were many working whippets at that show.By the way Reilly is the father of the pups,who sneaked in behind our backs,beleive me this was not planned. No the only dog we put into the working class at the lurcher shows is Amber our lurcher or Jessy.and yes we will attend the championship shows in the winter, we may not enter all of them, but sure when you are getting older, and the days are g
  15. Yes Nancy you want an honest answer,you will get one. Yes we did hunt our dogs to tragedy hit our family a few years ago. We hunted 3 nights a week and some weekends with my nephew the late Charlie Connolly from Monaghan, and I know quite a few of the huntsmen on this forum knew and hunted with Charlie as well,to Charlie lost his young life in very tragic circumstances which I will not discuss on this forum.   16. Get your show dates and venues sorted out now at committe level for 2012, and pm them to me and I will compile a list of shows and racing events for next year to put up on the various forms. Sort it out now, earley and this will avoid 2 shows overlapping on the same date, and you will also get the dates and venue of choice.Otherwise you will have to take what dates are left. If 2 dates does happen to overlap, it will give each club time to discuss and sort out between themselves.Lets compile a list so every club or organiser can have a look at the list, and If the list has to be ammended beca

  19. Ian Greers Farm Portglenone was the venue for the Bann – Valley Lurcher, Whippet & Terrier Show yesterday Saturday 24th September 11. What an ideal place to hold the last show of the season, with a back ground of scenery of the beautiful Portglenone country side. This show was run by Ian , Arlene, and Nigel Greer and family, and I can honestly say without fear of contradiction, these people were the most welcoming and homely people I have ever met, and done everything in their power they could possibly do to run a very successful show and to make everybodys day a very enjoyable o
