  3. Nestling between the hills on the borders of Strabane and Donegal,is beautiful Barron Top Fun Farm. This was the venue last Sunday for the North West Lurcher, Terrier , Whippet and Gun Dog first show of the year . Despite the bad weather, the show was well supported on the day with Lurchers ,Terriers, Whippets and Gun Dogs all lined up in the ring for a great day of showing and racing. Barron Top is one of my favourite places in Northern Ireland. On a sunny summers day the views are breath taking, and ideal for families with small children in good or bad weather to come for a relaxing day out.

  6. There was a very big turn out to day at the Mourne Lurcher and Terrier Charity show, held outside Newcastle . Athough the weather was not good, it did not dampen the spirits of all the K9 Community people who came in thier droves to Mourne Show to support this worthy charity, and also to enjoy a brilliant day out at this magnificent show with their families. Apart from the showing and racing, this years newest attraction "The Digging Competition" was a roaring success. It was a sight never seen in this area before. I stood beside Dessie Macken and Peter Morgan digging like moles, covered in mu

  11. There was a very big turnout from both North and South of the border of Lurchers, Terriers, Whippets, and Strong Dogs at Dessie Mackens show today. It was so nice to see so many ladies taking their rightful place in the ring along side the great gentlemen of the Canine world. Some beautiful dogs in the ring from the hunting, showing and racing world and some very proud owners at the end of the day. With such a big turnout of top notch dogs, the judges did a wonderful and difficult job. The trophies were top quality and very well thought out.Congratulations to all the winners. Bluebell was there
  12. What a lovely happy family day was had by all yesterday at Ballywalter Game Fair . The Gods were definately shinning on all the K 9 Community , as the sun beamed down in abundance right through the day. This show was impeccably run by Mr Albert J Titterington and his most efficient well versed committe, staff and stewarts. A big thank you to Albert J for giving so many people and their families so much enjoyment and a great family day out, after the long cold, snowy, awful winter we had. It was a great uplift. John Humphries was on hand with the good old mountain due ( Whiskey in this case) an
  13. Danny, lovely painting. Behind that picture are treasured memories, all made possible here in good old Ireland.
  14. Can anybody tell me is the coursing on to day and to morrow at Dowdalls hill,Dundalk, or is it cancelled because of the snow
  15. O Skinny, I am so sorry, Hello my Hunting Life friend and all my friends on here. I was just in from the show when I posted this thread, and you are dead right, it was very cold, but very enjoyable. Because of Johns job we dont get much time to go hunting. Some mornings he starts at 4.00am and could still be going at 10.00pm at night with very little rest in between. We do get to hunt once in a while, and our Lurcher Sandy has scored a few times. A very happy Christmas Skinny and all our hunting life friends and families. Hope Santa comes everybodys way this year.
  16. The snow and the cold weather did not dampen the spirits of all our K9 friends who weathered the storm and turned up for this annual Christmas event. Some came as far as Dublin and Drogheda. A great days craic was had by all. Congratulations to all the worthy winners and the excellent judgeing, which was carried out fair and most efficently by Colin Coates and Tom Barry. A special word of thanks to Dessie Macken for taking time out to organise the show and the raffle, and making it so enjoyable for everybody. Well done Dessie, you are a star. Dessie, between rosettes, cups, booze and turkeys ,
  17. The annual 2 day cousing event this year will be held at above venue on Sunday and Monday 26th and 27th December 10. A great day out after all the Christmas festivities.
  18. Hope you got a good result at the vets, and your dog is ok.
  19. Question, Should the Judges names be announced when the Lurcher, Terrier, and Whippet shows are advertised. This seems to be a dark area, most of the time this is hush hush to the show starts and the first time you see the judge is in the ring
  20. May I take this opportunity to thank all the decent men and women on this site for their heart felt responses and glowing replies to my write up on this thread. I never thought I had such a following. If anything of interest comes up now in the hunting season ,no doubt I will keep you all informed and always with your interest at heart.Bluebell will keep the photographs going. Dont forget Dundalk Coursing, usually couple of days after Xmas. Will put it up as soon as I get the correct dates. Always a great day out.We always enjoy it.
  21. No we are not trophy hunters,we hunt, show and race our dogs, we are a middle aged couple, who love the Canine world, can see no wrong in people, and love to see people happy and live life to the full. Sure we have a room full of Trophies as we are in hunting and showing 15 years, and go to shows and game fairs north and south of the border here in Ireland. Our dogs have given us such an interest in life, and have uplifted us at very sad hard, and dark times in our lives. It is nice to be able and fit to take your dogs over the field in the snow and rain, and think things out at times, when yo
