  1. That Blythe Bob looked the right sort, and the good thing is that their are still dogs around today who look similar. CHECK THIS OUT lrkgoldendoodles.homestead.com/BEDLINGTONDOOD... Firkin unbelievable!!! And Finally - Heres one of Swanseajack as a lad............................................................................. ..............
  2. Blodwyn I live in a town (we dont all live in gamekeepers cottages) lol and I have such a Beddy. I'm putting 2/3 miles in morning into him and the same at night. At the weekend he goes everywhere I go and I do intend to work him. The thing is, He is still full of beans (to the extent of being a pain in the arse) but I'm hoping a bit of ratting and rabbiting will put that right over the next few months. On the plus side, he is great with the kids and really clean, and quite comical to have around the house. Perhaps a full Gutchcommon dog may suit you (looks more like a real Beddy bu
  3. Bedly, I might be able to put you in contact with someone who breeds Bedlingtons In Oz. They are in Penrose NSW (I DONT KNOW HOW FAR FROM YOU THAT IS) The dogs in question are to all intents and puposes show dogs But they are worked and bred for size, temperament etc (so I'm told) Pm me and I'll give you the details. Dave
  4. It's official - I'm now a donator. So step aside underlings!!
  5. Give him a chance Ditch......he is a jock after all and parting with £6 is no easy task :11: JOEB 6 FIRKIN QUID!!?? - Thats 2 weeks wages up here. Talk about the north/south divide eh?
  6. Ditch Mate, I asked the question in a toungue in cheek manner, purely to invoke a bit of banter amongst the "this breed of dog is better than yours" etc. But I guess if I have to explain it , the comedy element kind of evaporates . You were right about the "tight kunt" thing though ...................... I was always led to believe that " a tight kunt" was a good thing.
  7. Here we go - form an orderly queue :11:
  8. A few rats on here, not sure about gerbils though
  9. I see that some people on this site have the title "donator" below their name. My questions are : HOW do you donate? : WHY should one donate? i.e what are the benefits? : HOW much is a donation? And what happens to the donations? - Do they go to the retired poachers fund? Or do the Mods blow the lot on their annual Christmas pissup? Or perhaps all the money goes towards buying Ian a nice little country cottage in Ireland  Can someone please enlighten me before I part with my hard earned.
  10. Some clip that! But for my money, that isn't sport. The poor big fecker was acting like a safari park Lion - until they shot him. Me thinks the film would have been a whole lot better if their guns had jammed as he ran in. That girlie squeal that bloke made was funny though.
  11. Incidently, Vetgen (vetenary genetic research company) are compiling a database of dog breeds to help combat inherited canine disease such as copper toxicosis. The thing is, I'm hearing KC reg "Bedlington" breeders are shitting themselves to have their dogs tested in case it shows up the "fluffy" gene which is probably poodle and/or Bischon. These same sanctimonious barstewards were the first to shout down George Newcombe when he started outcrossing to Lakelands.
  12. How much ft/lbs is the Hawk? - the last thing I want are Squirrels running away with a slug in them.
  13. I know Plummer isnt everyones cup of tea ... but - The Fell Terrier is a good informative read. Also tales of a rat hunting man.
  14. I,ve just been clearing out my dear old dads house and found my old air rifle, a Webley & Scott Hawk. I shot allsorts with this gun when I was a teenager, from birds, rats rabbits etc (and my brother once) but thats another story. What I would like to know is - have air rifles moved on a bit since this gun? And if I was buying a gun today for rats and squirrels whats my best bet?
  15. She is comparing your Tyke to the only type of "Bedlington" she knows - the KC reg snow white fluffy show type. This dog is well and truly fvcked as a working terrier (in most cases) In America they have all but ignored the breed standard and dogs of 19 and 20 inches are champions, dogs with poor heads, fluffy white coats and no discernable aptitude to work. Its arrogance in the extreme to change a dog for aesthetic reasons and for monetary gain. BUT why should we call our dogs Rothburys or anything but a Bedlington when our dogs are more like the Bedlington of old than the show dogs
  16. Going back 20 or so years , we used to drive up to Amulree (near Crieff) and let the dogs have a go on the blue Hares. With expeirienced Brown Hare coursing dogs it was like shooting ducks in a barrell . The only advantage the poor feckers had was the rough terrain. But I do remember the Blue ones to be curiously dopey compared to their brown cousins.
  17. Fvuck having a bath at your house Topper :11:
  18. Nealey I should haave some ratting permission by spring/summer (my job brings me into contact with the odd farmer/poultry producer. At the moment I take the pup round the outskirts of the local landfill - I've seen a few but plenty of holes and places for them to hide. Big dillema realy - the pup is hunting well and goes nuts when he sees one , but still has some milk teeth left and no way do I want to take a chance of ruining him. I'm in Preston by the way (are you anywhere near?) I'll give you a shout if anything comes up. all the best Dave
