  1. Some great pics, I sometimes get use of a cottage up in Newtonmore absoloutly love it up there.
  2. Signed Just to say Bosun/GTE these developments can be prevented, Only last year a big one on the moor at the back of mine was stopped and that was the second time (they came back with alternative plans to try again) That one was prevented through the impact to the local economy (tourism) Not an angle you lads will be able to use but pursuing the impact to bird/wildlife is definitely the way to go. Only 348 signed so far surely should be able to double that just through the members of this site. All the best with it, it would be a sad day that they pour the concrete into the ground and slin
  3. Don't know if it's already been posted ...just another example of BBC's anti agenda "BBC magazine refuses Countryside Alliance advert Wednesday, 2 October 2013 We were approached a couple of weeks ago by the advertising team for the BBC Countryfile magazine asking if we wanted to publicise our online shop, the Countryside Marketplace, in their Christmas gift guide. We sent over copy and all seemed to be in order until our marketing manager, Niall Wenborn, got a call today saying that the advert had been passed on to someone “high up” for “compliance” and they had vetoed taking a
  4. Great read GTE thanks for taking the time to write it
  5. Looks happy to see you MIK.....probably heard what you get up to with those other blow up dolls you keep!
  6. LOL! And while your at it could I have the farmers name and number erm... just in case..of course I've got no interest in taking a trip on your land..
  7. Asked by a mate to put up the details of their show on a few sites so I'll put it on this thread if that's OK rather than starting another: RVWTC Show Sunday 7th July Eckington Miners Welfare Pipe Yard Lane Eckington S21 4FA J30 M1 midway between sheffield and Chesterfield on the A6135 All the usual classes plus trade stands.
  8. I agree completely that they are helpless but badgers are NOT the only carrier issue. You're telling me that Farmer Giles hasn't already been told by Old McDonald to shoot the badgers and then throw them in the road early morning to make it look like it was run over? Maybe put some paracetamol in a bit of dog food for them? Pretty darn naive your farmers aren't they? Go out, get a licence and blow any badger you see to kingdom come but when it fails to reduce the cases of bTB and the public cry for a full ban knowing the actaul science behind it then you've only yourselves to blame and
  9. To be fair I haven't read enough of the evidence/alternatives to reducing bTB to debate the suggestions your making BUT taking on board the areas you've highlighted such as spreading slurry and animal husbandry why would it make sense to spend even more money vaccinating a pest species rather than culling? Badgers are a pest species? Where is that stated? What pest activity do they carry out? Why would it make more sense to wipe out a species that has perfectly adequate vaccine to prevent the individual becoming a host or transport? Under that argument anyone with a common cold sho

  11. Going back a few years a group of us were heading down the pub, as we passed a "mates" house there's police out side and a fire engine just pulling up, anyhow all the usual "whats happening" "thats a mates house is he OK" etc. to the usual replies come on lads move on it's nothing to do with you. Anyhow on we went to the pub talk of what's Matt been up to know. Walked into the pub and Matt's sat there pint in hand, everyone's telling him he better get home police and fires there sumats happened to which he looked at his watch and replied f*ck me that's took them some time........... Turns out
  12. And that sums it up for me. Immigration has been good for this country over the years providing opportunties for those that wanted to better themselves, immigrants that moved to this great land appreciating the opportunity that they had been given, integrating into local communities, embracing our culutre, adding real benefit to those communities/this country be it in the NHS, local shops, restaurants etc. However what is really F*cked up is the type of immigration that we have seen over the past couple of decades pandered to by the lefty politicians and media immigrants coming here thinking
  13. I may be off the mark but by "My biggest concern is how do I no wether it's Charlie at home?" ...I'm assuming you mean that it's def fox and not badger? Like has been said everyone has to start somewhere and def the best idea is to go out with someone experienced that will show you the ropes, if you want to get a head start to know what signs to look out for go on the national working terrier federation website there's plenty of info on there on what signs to look out for and code of conduct for working a terrier to ground.
  14. Yes I have mate, they usually come up for a couple of days towards the start of the season, couldn't make it this year but it's been a good do when I have been out up here. I always try and get out with them or the Barlow when I get back home visting friends/family. You're right about them being a good pack they've some great land they hunt that usually provides some good viewing of them working a line. They're a good bunch that make you feel welcome and you're right about lot's of characters...LOL
  15. Also worth trying is massaging her with liniment before running her and once you're done. A good boneman reccomended me this when he looked over a bitch of mine it def reduces stiffness the next day in her. Edited to add- I was reccomended either Curacho or Green rub.
  16. For me a salmon on the Derwent bang next to the brewery above where the Cocker joins it, not the biggest but the first I'd ever caught (after lots of trying) . I was only 12 at the time and I can still remember how proud I was walking back up the town to home with this huge salmon I'd caught by myself...all 8lb of it LOL
  17. As with all hunts it'll depend where the meet is on that day, google them and you'll get a number off Bailey's, they'll be able to tell you where coming meets are.
  18. They're the Ecclesfield and holme valley now and meet on what was both sets of country. Had many a good day with the Ecclesfield.
  19. Taking the legalities aside as thats been answered and there's a topic pinned on it, if you're considering using a terrier to ground for the use of pest control then make sure you have someone experienced with you that knows what they are doing and holds a shotgun/firearms, it's not just a case of entering a terrier and then hoping for the best. Take the time to gain some experience with someone that knows what they are doing, get to know the law, what signs to look for to make sure it is a fox thats home and what to do once your terriers to ground..
  20. Why you choosing to have their dew claws off? Genuine question as its not something ive really come across with terriers, also if your off to the vets might save you a bob or two just getting them docked instead of all the dew claws as well.

there's a topic pinned on the deer forum with pics on a step by step guide for jointing different cuts, after following that a while back I always do boned rolled joint for roasting now (makes a cracking Sunday roast) give it a go it's easy enough to follow and once youve done it once it takes no time to do. Edited to add I've just seen you said cooking for one...if you do that roast joint you get a nice sunday lunch and enough left over for your sarnies for the start of the week lol
