  3. Most sesnible post I've read on here. Key word is patience.... Thats the only thing that can ruin your dog. If your unsure if hes ready for something... He ain't ready. yeah great advise mate ill take it all on board im new to sport but only thing i dont get is how to train them [bANNED TEXT] they are ready some people say its just in them and they will do it as they grow but sum how im sure ther gunna need sum guidance??? tom do yo mean training the pup to hunt?if thats the case you dont need to train it as such take it on the land you intend to run i found mine as he gain
  4. i lamp at least 3 nights a week on the bunnies only got i hound
  5. too right, but to be fair most of the cub catchers(except those called out for pest control)they have to kill cubs because their dogs would never face a full grown one. whats wrong with starting a young inexperienced dog on young inexperienced quarry?i would of thought this would be the best way to bring a young dog on i agree running already entered dogs on cubs is unsporting atb matt if the young dog is of the right stuff it should have no problem starting on adult foxes when its old enough.if it can't then its a waster simple as that. my pup is of the right stuff its already done

  12. start of by getting the dog out in the field when its old enough 100 or 11 mth maybe older in some cases walk it on ground you intend to lamp in the daytime so its fammiliar and you are too with the land then wait for a dark windy cloudy night take youre pup out and let him see rabbits running in the beam try abnd find a squatter and slip youre dog on it most dogs with 50% or more sighthound are supposedly easy to start on the lamp ,i have only had experience with my bullx 1/3bull 2/3grey and he started on the lamp straight away no problem there is a link on here somewhere called starting a pu
  13. best advice is to not rush you will have the dog for a long time speak to people on here and get a clear idea of what quarry ,the type of land and how often you intend to hunt in your head ,theres plenty of litters about so you are in agood position take youre time mke sure the parents are at least 5 or six years old you will know when you find the right pup atb with youre search ps i came on here and was just like you i hadnt even lamped before i found myself a dog in the for sale section hes 10mths old now and i have had a brilliant time bringing him on so much so i want two dogs now cheers
