  2. i dont take a good pic mate im buzzing inside though tyke is ten months and yes 2 of his last 3 rabbits has involved him getting in cover which i was pleased with.thanks for all your comments atb matt
  3. tyke caught his first rabbit last night so tonight i thought i would give him anotheer go well i slipped him while standin on a break in the hedge rabbit was about 20 yd away a couple of turns and the rabbit hit the hedge tyke pushed in after him the rabbit came out the other side and headed for some long grass by this time tyke was over the hedge and on him again then nothing the rabbit was no were to be seen we cast about tyke struck into the long grass next thing i hear is squeal and it was one in the bag the next was a squatter we walked up close and i slipped tyke the rabbit ran in a larg

  6. You can't beat the feeling. I was lucky my pup caught on his 2nd run and should have had the first (my fault), he's only been out once since then (first week of Jan) and got about 8 runs, only because I knew he was capable and I wanted to finish on a high, (which he did). Take him out now on nights which favour the dog because now he's got his first catch and his confidence you just need to build on it. thanks mate i think he would of probably caught sooner but until i got tyke i had never lamped before and probably wasnt giving him the best of chances atb matt

  8. my young bullx tyke finally caught his first rabbit tonight im a very happy man its been a 20 year dream to own a lurcher and lamp with it so im well pleased see entering a young dog on this page for the full story
  9. he finally caught 1 took him out tonight he had 3 runs the first went on for ages round a bloody tennis court no luck the second was on a wheat field the rabbit dropped into a ditch i lost sight of tyke only for him to reappear in the rough grassy paddock i put the lamp on him and he was running 1 it got a way but as he came back to me another got up it was quite along run and a couple of times i thought he lost it it eventually hit a hedge and tyke wnet in after it and it was game over im buzzing thanks everyone its been brilliant to come on here find out about lurchers get one and train it
  10. I coursed with them, but the number of hares was going down every year. why is that bud ? what were they lke to run ?do you think the levels compare to the fens?

  12. im just wondering does anyone know if anyone used to course on the somerset levels pre ban aand what it was like i think the levels are about the only place you can see a hare in somerset, the levels are the biggest land we have in somerset similiar to the fens it would be good to hear from anyone who has had experience on them

I have just started lamping with my 10mth old bullx and hes picked everything up looing down the beam running the rabbit and coming back when whistled the only problem is hes not yet caught anything although last night he put in a strike and the rabbit jumped straight up in the air which confused him and tonight he put in another strike and i was sure he had the rabbit but it managed to get free and dissappear into the grass should i continue taking him out each night giving him 3 or 4 runs or give him a break as i dont want him to lose confidence i really feel sorry for him as he really trys

  16. dont know loads about them but have heard that the bloke is the no 1 importe of picardys and has bred them for a while ,think they have some husky in them that was introduced by the french to improve the genepool thats about all i know atb matt

  18. I have finally found the best diet for my pup whos nine mths old im just wondering should i fedd him just once a day now or continue with the twice a day obvously i wouldnt be feeding him less just all of it at once just intrested to hear youre opinions cheers matt
